Ok, Who hides there kits :)

A friend of mine who owns a hobby shop just bought a model collection in an estate sale. The guy who passed away had collected more than 4000 models of every type you can think of. On top of that he had detail sets for aircraft, tanks, and cars in the 100s. Made me wonder if his wife knew he had all of this stashed away in a rather large attick. There sure are some great kits in this collection but I feel sorry for the guy as I am going through it helping my friend inventory everything. -
Really nice funny car Brett. 3 days is tough but you make it look easy.

Welcome aboard. You are going to love that kit.

Model Building as stress relief...
Rob McKee replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Darin, I am very sorry to hear about your wife. I find model building to be relaxing. It allows my to direct my creative energy onto a canvas of plastic. I do find it tougher to do when I am under extreme stress because I have a lack of focus. The important thing to keep in mind while you are experiencing this difficult time is to take some time for yourself as well. Sounds like you do so by modelling which is great. Rob -

My first wife was brutal about my hobby. I would get the gears for buying a couple of kits on payday. This was back when kits were priced around the 10 - 15 dollar amount. At the same time she would smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day which were priced around 6 dollars a pack. Do the math: 2 kits every couple of weeks max $30 2 packs of smoke a day $168 On top of that she didn't work for 9 years. I supported her and I would get the gears for a couple of model kits. Needless to say she is gone. However, I still have to support her with spousal support. New wife, awesome supporter of the hobby and takes a real interest in what I do. -
Looks good Jarod, I tried to strip the chrome on the engine with bleach and it wouldn't go. I'll be watching your build here.

Very creative idea. Looks great so far. Rob -
Great looking Black Widow David. I have one of these sitting on the shelf to build. I hope I can make it look as good as yours. Rob

Manny, that is some awesome looking work you do. I agree with Ian, that bus is amazing. Welcome aboard! Rob -
That's good to know Todd. I have been thinking of getting one to save my Eclipse from acrylic paint. That way I can use one for oil base and the other for water base. I may just pull the trigger on this one now. Thanks

Hey Nick, that looks great. The interior is awesome with the colors and detail you put into it. I can't wait to see the end result. Rob

That looks great. I hear this kit is a real bear to build though. There is one sitting on the shelf at the hobby shop. I have been eyeing it for awhile. Is it worthwhile?

I was looking at them in the hobby shop and they seem kinda nice. The trigger is a little stiff but other than that it looks like a decent airbrush. Of course I haven't tried one.

What's with the Gremlin?

I am going to get one of these kits for sure. I remember them running around the roads here when I was in my teens. They really weren't the best looking car on the road but I love the nostalgia behind all this. I would really like to see the AMC Hornet in a kit. Did they make one? -
Starting in on a kit I have had laying around for ages. I am participating in a GB on another forum where I am building this kit along with the Jungle Jim Vega. The van and trailer will be painted and decaled in JJ colors to match the race car. I realize the JJ used a ramp truck to transport his Funny cars around but I thought this would look cool. First step as usual, a bath to get the parts nice and clean. Interesting to note, there is a small slip of paper inside the plastic bag saying "Made in Denmark". Considering this is a Revell kit. Rob

This is my first post here in "Under Glass". I completed this kit as part of Dr. Cranky's 3 day build. It was a lot of fun to be a part of this power build and even more gratifying to actually finish a build. Thanks Dr. Cranky for putting the build together. There were some fantastic builds completed in 3 days. I always loved this car when I was a kid. The 78 came out 3 years before I got my drivers license but I didn't have the means to get one once I was driving. If you are in a modelling rut like I was just try to build a kit in 3 days. Thanks for looking. Rob

Been ask to build one of my trailers

That is very cool that you would dedicate your time and effort to do this for him. Just be honest about your material costs up front and there shouldn't be a problem. What I mean by that is don't under estimate your costs. Of course the kit and sheet plastic costs money but don't forget paint and other supplies. Paint is expensive these days. Good luck with everything.
