5 model cars or trucks you wish were made.
Rob McKee replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Good advice Modelmartin. I guess the last thing I need is another model kit that I will never get to. -
With the talk of scale wieght...
Rob McKee replied to JustBill's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Actually a lot of model railroaders use scale time as well. If they are trying to keep some kind of a time table to emulate operations this is the way to go. http://www.model-railroad-infoguy.com/fast-clock.html As for speed, I have N-scale trains and I just go by eye. Running full out would emulate a bullet train on steroids. -

What? Silverado is not made by Ford. Having said that, I would love to see a 2004 F-150. -
Bob, how is this racist? Have you never chuckled at a child who cannot pronouce a work correctly? Have you never chuckled at a friend who has made a mistake? I live my life in a diverse society. I have been laughed at for my accent when a word I have said is misunderstood and have chuckled as others as well. Try smiling instead of lashing out and may find a new friend. Nobody has mentioned the singers race or religion but yourself. I think people like yourself do things like this so you can hold your chest out and feel you have made a difference. The only diffence I can see is you are not welcome here when you are calling us : "inbred, toothless reneck moron who's mother is also his sister" Way to save the world Bob.

That is incredible. Someone should take this on as a 1/25 diorama. -
Build count for 2011
Rob McKee replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lots of kits on the go, none of them are finished. I am really going to try and wrap up the 69 Charger I started back in July. I also have 4 aircraft models on the go and I think I can wrap up the Mustang P-51 I am working on as well. So, if all of the planets line up I should be able to say 2. -
He actually has a really good voice. But I really hope Jesus doesn't take my Wii.

First time sharing in You Tube
Rob McKee replied to cruz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Your You-Tube video looks great. One of these days I am going to try out the nail polish paint job. -
I think you got a really good deal. That airbrush is a star, I just love mine. Is the compressor noisy? I had one similar to that before and it would wake the dead when it went off. Rob

Maybe I will try this idea.

I agree, if this works well it would save me a ton of time.

Interesting. I haven't heard of one of these used in the past. Where did you find your ultrasonic cleaner? What model is it? Thanks, Rob

Craig, sorry to hear what happened to your brother. I hope he didn't end up with any injuries that will haunt him for life. My comment wasn't directed at the window tint, more towards the way the Police tend to setup to get the average guy driving his car not causing any real problems. I had an experience some time ago where a cop was setup in the driveway of a home watching for people who didn't make a full stop at a stop sign. Normally I would have no issue with this but the stop sign was useless. There was no traffic or pedestrians crossing the path of the road and therefore nobody stopped at the sign. It shouldn't have been there in the first place but someone saw it fit to put it there in advance of a contruction project. Once the new subdivision was in place the sign made sense. Anyway, he setup there at 7 am nailing those who were on their way to work. Just a cash grab in my opinion. Needless to say I got pulled over. I told the cop how I felt about his presence there and he wrote me a warning. Man, I lost it on him verbally and I thought I would end up in the clink. Funny thing is, the Police never returned to this spot and a few weeks later the stop sign was removed.

I hear you there. I think they come after the working guy because they know we will pay the tickets. If they went after the real bad ass people it would be more work and usually nothing comes out of it.

My Inspirational Model Car
Rob McKee replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My inspiration to build models as models and not just a big hunk of glue was my cousin David McKee. He was doing chop tops, opening doors, and trunk lids when we were just kids. He still models today and I would love to see him post some of his work here. This site has so many very talented builders but I am always amazed by the build Rommel and John Teresi undertake. The detail is absolutley amazing. Rob -
Models in Walmart.....
Rob McKee replied to coolplastic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just thought of something. At the same hobby shop I mentioned above, he stocks about a hundred kits (both Revell and AMT) that he sells for $9.95. He told me his distributor cleans house every so often and he buys all he can allowing him to mark them at this price. This makes it a little easier for kids or those on a very tight budget to get into the hobby. So, is Walmart really the best deal? Are our LHS owners pricing clearouts like this fairly? This shop has been open for 32 years now. He has a very loyal group of regulars who frequent his store (sometimes for the beer) other times to buy. I usually do both because I like beer, and I love models. It is a perfect world. -

I have some great memories of going into the hobby shop excited about all of the kits they had. I also have some fond memories of going into K-Mart with my Grandfather and brother. He would buy us each a couple of kits and we couldn't wait to get home to get building. I am lucky with the hobby shops in my area. One of them is owned by a good friend of mine. I often go in and have a couple of beers with a small group of regulars who all share the modelling bug. We have some great laughs. -

Just like every car has a turn signal and everyone driving cars knows how to use it, but they don't. Things that make me go hmm.....
