  1. Awesome! I'm pumped! Thanks for letting me join. This will be my first community build so I'm looking forward to it. Ill get started on putting some photos up. I'll throw a few up from start to current but if it's cool with you I'll throw up the build page so everyone can see all the photos to the build.
  2. Then after all that I picked it up to show my wife and in slow motion it slipped out of my hands and into the air. Felt like it was in the air for ever. Luckily not to much damage. Built these gusset plates with dimple holes to give the frame some strength. Still have photos to upload so more updates to come. Opinions Welcomed.
  3. With such nice control arms now this area just looked ugly as sin so I cleaned it up. Much better.
  4. This hole was already there so I figured why not make it match. Then I added this accent dimple to both sides just for the hell of it. Why not the upper control arms.
  5. More Updates I really didn't like the look of the rear end through the bridge setup so I decided to clean it up. The first piece was cut out then used my wife's hole puncher to cut the edges off. Works great when you unscrew the bottom, then you can see where to cut it. I wanted the second piece to look like a metal dimple die punched it out. The dimples had to be the same size and spaced holes as the ones cut out in the middle section of the frame. I used one drill bit to make the hole and another drill bit 2x bigger and turned it counter clockwise. Took a lot of test tries but that was the best way to give it a smooth look.
  6. Thankyou James and Richard
  7. Hey Michael, glad to hear everything is alright after your hospital visit. I've been wanting to join/start a community page like this for a while. I'm getting back to the Merc so maybe this will help me finish it sometime this decade. I've read the rules and regulations and if it's alright with you and everyone else Id like to jump in on this party. The Merc is already started but I build slower then a snail. If I can't use the Merc I have a van in the box I could try and get done. Just let me know
  8. Thanks Mike. I was wondering what that grille was for.
  9. Thanks Michael, Darren, and James
  10. Thanks Pat, Doc, and Marcos
  11. To help the flow I shaved down the corners of each bumper at the same angle as the body line and shaped them to fit the side skirts. Added a little curve to the front of the skirts for more attitude. I'll up load more photos to photobucket this weekend.
  12. I got rid of the old brackets and made new ones so it would slide right in place and line up without thinking twice. I also put a bracket behind the new plastic for extra backing support. While doing the skirts I shaved the the tail light buckets and old bumper holes.
  13. Long story short, been having a lot of family things going on amongst other things so I put the project aside for a month or two. I was able to upload some photos tho so I'll try and get this build up to date. Like I said before I wanted the skirt to flow so I started by shaping the top part to match the body line but then it just drops off so I'm going to make it flow into to bumper as well. Started by leveling the bottom out and then used an old scrap piece from the hood to make it sit flush on the ground. Then I cut a rough piece of plastic out, glued it on, and stared shaping. This is the end result compared to stock. After using some filler I was pretty pleased with it.
  14. I just have to say I admire builders like you. You make me want to be a better builder knowing you made something so badass but just keep working it till you get it just right. I myself would of stopped a long time ago but I love what you keep doing. Can't wait to see the end result.
  15. Ok, thanks guys. I figure the Future was for extra shine, i thought thats what they were doing with the elmers. I just didn't understand why they would use a different glue for windows and why not just use the clear testors/super glue? Why a whole different glue just for that? Thanks for the info, I should of cleared up my question
  16. That's alright, thanks anyways. Just curious how it looked/worked. Great looking build tho, nice work.
  17. Wow! Just wow. I mean you do some gorgeous work but that first build is out of this world. What a killer combo, thanks for posting them up. Can't wait to see more.
  18. Very sorry to hear about your loss. She's sounds like a wonderful person, my condolences to you and your family.
  19. This thing is so bad a$$. I love the flow of it. I'm glad your first idea didn't work out cause what you did with the side panels and the pinstripes with the flames on the roof are my favorite part. Nice job sticking with it, ended up being a great looking bike.
  20. Real nice, clean lookin build. I freakin love that color. Just curious but do you have any photos of the working suspension? Been thinking about making my own for my van build.
  21. BTW, I myself just use a little tape or a dab of the tester glue to mock up. Easy to get it back off and then on final assembly I'll use a little super glue to secure everything down. I've also herd of guys usin Elmer's white glue but I've never tried it myself.
  22. Genius! I've seen this done on real 1:1 builds and never thought to use it on the models. This is gonna save me tons of aggravation of trying to get everything mocked and sitting the same height every time. Just one thing, how do you go about building the rear suspension once the rear is in position? I had a lot of trouble with that building the Mercs air suspension. Still not sure how everyone uses the pins to mock up, I don't think I'd have to much luck with that.
  23. Just curious but what is it that you do with the glue? I mean I herd of guys using that other product, Future, just not sure for what or how to.
  24. That already looks like a cool kit but you just take em' to another level. Love how your doing all that wood work. Any chance we can get a photo of all the boats? Or if there are other build pages just point me in the right direction. Awesome build, can't wait to see it on the trailer behind the car.
