1955 Chevy Nomad completed chassis, ready for body
JasonFL replied to toddy427's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Lol....that was pretty funny. I'm with her tho, unreal. The detail you did is crazy, very nice work. -
You build them fast and beautiful. This one came out great doc and the decals are killer. I actually really like those first rims you had in the mock up photo, they weren't the stock steeliness are they? Looking good tho, nice work.

Thanks for the help Josh, I think I'm just gonna have to bite down and open that sucker up. Your making some real nice progress with the build. The frame and the inside of the trunk are looking real good. I'm looking forward to seeing more, keep it going.

Love the way this thing is starting to look. I was more a fan of the first grill combo but the second combo is right up there, it's a nice suttle touch. What I'm really loven tho is that color you sprayed on the roof with the lace design on top. It's coming along, I'll be watching. Keep it up.

Project: "Inferno" 49 Merc - *Update p17* 3/13/15
JasonFL replied to JasonFL's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I also shaved the tires down a bit to help with clearance and get it down a bit lower. Weapons of choice: power drill, bolt, 2 wing nuts, a spacer, and some sanding materials. I used wing nuts with a smooth side so the ridges didn't dig into the tire. They also fit perfectly into the tire. Left side: unshaven Right side : shaved Not much difference but you can see its a little smaller then the original. That's it for right now. I'll try and get some progress photos up of the rear frame section soon. Thanks for looking. -
Project: "Inferno" 49 Merc - *Update p17* 3/13/15

Just to clean the interior up a bit I shaved the dashboard smooth of the clock, radio, glovebox/lock, and those lines, not to sure what they are. Then I followed that nice body line all the way through. -
Project: "Inferno" 49 Merc - *Update p17* 3/13/15
JasonFL replied to JasonFL's topic in WIP: Model Cars
First off thanks everyone for their help and input so far. Its been a lot of help so keep it coming, its much appreciated. Haven't gotten to much done lately. I finally figured out what I'm doing with the rear so that's being finished up as we speak. In the meantime I did a few simple mods to clean it up a bit. I started by moving the mirror down onto the door. Thought it looked better then were it was so I made a tiny hole with a thumb tac (only thing i had small enough to make the hole). I use black marker as an etching guide Then I made it flow with the body. -
That Merc is looking killer. Doing some nice subtle mods. Lovin the added trim and tail lights not to mention the perfect stance, lower is always better. I'm working on a Merc myself, slammed with some other mods, I was thinking about opening my trunk but wasnt sure how I should position my blade to get the job done. I'm guessing you just cut straight down but I wanted to ask and see how you went about it and see if you had any plans for the trunk. I'd appreciate any help you could give me, thanks. I'll defiantly be watching this build, keep up the good work.

Watching the paint dry. Rat Roaster (It's dry! Well sort of.) 3/20/13
JasonFL replied to rmvw guy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Ah ok, thanks Ron. That's how I thought you would of done it, I couldn't think of any other way. I never understood why they put those tabs somewhere else that's not going to be seen. Would really help things out a great deal. Thanks for the tip with the hot glue, I'll have to try that. Right now I'm just folding some tape over, then throwing it on the back of the parts with it raised off a piece of cardboard. Seems to work, so far no problems. -
Wow! B-E-A-Utiful color. Keep it comin

You do some beautiful paint work. I'm excited to see how your going to use them colors on that roadster. I just have one question. when you paint the parts on the tree, what do you do when you have to take the parts off and there's that nasty spot were it attached? I haven't attempted any paint work to this caliber so I'm trying to get some ideas on how you guys do this. Thanks for any help, I'll be keeping my eye on the build. -
Awesome job! I was expecting to see a rally car but not all that. You really made it look like realistic, well done.

I'd have to agree. You always have some kick a$$ build threads, always fun to watch. Keep it up, I'll be looking for the next build. -

Nice build rich. I'm diggin the roof and trunk lid mods ya did. -
Great looking build, love the color combo and detail you put into it. I'm sure you know how I feel about this build already. Well done.

These are also some nice s10's kev. You did some real nice work here with some cool details. I think I'm still more a fan for the old school copper build tho. That last photo was a tease, really looking forward to seeing what that's going to look like. Keep it up.

That's one clean little s10. Like the copper color along with the penny air cleaner but the chevy logo shaped rear view mirror was a cool little touch. Nice looking build. -
Came out looking great Bob. The colors you chose and mods you did are spot on. Very nice build
-
Wow! Some impressive work. I'm glad you were able to find some build photos, you did a great job blending that boat and making it look exactly like the car. Thanks again for sharing.

They are both really nice but I think you nailed that wide tire look. I'd definitely build the kit if it looked like that. Nice touch with the missile. Great lookin builds but if I had to choice one it'd be the wide tire build.
