1950 oldsmobile custom finished! 02/1/2013
JasonFL replied to streetmachine11's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Lol...Great minds think alike. Must be a Jason thing. Can't wait to see how it all turned out, I really like those colors. -
I was also curious about this myself. I was going to make a post about it after I stopped on his profile tonight and it said he hasn't been on since nov. hope everything's alright. I've only been on this site a couple years and it doesn't seem like him to not post for so long.

50 Chevy pickup bomb
JasonFL replied to ridinframe's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Very clean and simple build and looks great laid out. I love all the added little details. Would love to see some more photos of that frame with the air ride set up. Really nice looking build. -

Very cool build. Love that color combo. Nice touch with the surf boards, great looking build. -
That thing is just sick! I mean really sick! I love that long slammed look. The dully fenders made a hell of a difference, great idea. Some real nice work getting everything to flow together. I'm also loving that old school dragger slammed down on those resin wheel. You need to start a build thread on that thing soon, real soon. I'm definitely watching this one, keep up the good work.

Hey bob, some excellent work you did. The chop top made a world of difference. I'm not a fan on the car on the box art or the image of the real thing but I do think it has potential. I think your on the right track, the things that bother me some are for one, those nasty door handles, takes away from that beautiful molding. The next would be (not sure how to explain it) but its the the rounded bulge body line of the station wagon. I wouldn't say delete it but I would delete the part that runs into and through that once again beautiful molding. And for that front bumper, I know why it looked good flipped. It's because it made the car look like its not coming to such a point. If you look at it from a side view the way it originally is you can see that the bottom the bumper looks hiked up but when you flipped it the bottom of the bumper lined up with the bottom of the cars rocker (maybe get rid of the fog light set up). Hope that made sense. I would either flip it like you had it or cut it in half and extend it down to line up. These are just my opinions, other then that I think everything else looks great. Can't wait to see it all finished up, I'll be watching.

Love how you did that air ride set up. It's making me want to open the trunk on my Merc so I can add all that stuff with the spare tire. I can't wait to see it all painted up in that orange with that gorgeous color you have on the roof. What a combo! You should add a little color to the interior, like painting the air tank brackets orange and the compressors same as the roof. Just a suggestion, either way its turning out real nice. -
Thanks again James for taking the time to explain everything to me. I haven't been to the bench much lately but I can't wait to try this out. I got lots of extra parts tree so I'll practice a lot before attempting it on a project. Can't wait to see the Nomad in that pearl white

I would have to agree. The car doesn't have any individualism. I personally think they veer further and further away from what we all know as the classic American corvette, this to me looks like a European version. They said its based off the stingray but I don't see it. If anything I think they should of at least added the split back window to give it some separation from the rest. Overall I think they missed the mark but that's just my opinion.

1965 and 1968 elcamino

I would of done the same. Everything looks better slammed ...lol. -
Thanks James, i appreciate you explaining that to me. I'm not sure my skill level is there yet tho. The two things I wasn't sure about is when you said "Then I glued a small piece of tree sprue to the inside of the fender..right under the hole". Did you just glue a round piece on the inside and drill through that to hold the antenna? Seems like it would be difficult to drill through that without it poppin back off. The other thing I was curious about is how you stretched the sprue that small into that little tear drop shape? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand how you did it. Such a cool modification, I would like to attempt it one day, maybe on the Merc I got on the bench.

That's a pretty good idea. Phones now a days can take some pretty nice photos. I have a few blank canvases, I'll have to try that when I can finally finish a model. -

I have a set of die cast trucks sitting the same way on the shelf but I have yet to see anyone build the two trucks and position them like that. The lifted ones cool with the stack but I'm all about going down. I would personally keep the ext cab and body drop that thing on the ground with those nice rims. Some nice work so far. Looking forward to seeing how you finish it up, keep it going. -

JasonFL replied to bug1623's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The black one doesn't look bad, not a fan of the camper on the back tho. But I'm really liking the slammed el camino, now that looks sweet. I have to get one of these to build one day. Nice job. -
It's coming, slowly but surely. Haven't really had the chance to sit down and get that rear set up finished. I've done some small things here and there but I lost some motivation along with a lot of family stuff going on. Hopefully I'll get a chance to work on it in the next few nights. Thanks for asking. What you got on your workbench now?

I'm usually not a fan of how people do these things up unless they are slammed and shaved but Im liking how you did this one. It's just clean and simple and something about that rim combo on this car just looks right. Nice build.

I really like that interior and those wheels look great on this car with it dropped down. Clean build, nice job.

This one really turned out beautiful. Like I said before, I wasn't a fan of the color until you added the wood panels. Nice touch with the surf board. Another cool build, looking forward to the next one.
