USA-1 CORVETTE LSR TEAM! WIP Photos! Finished Now!
JasonFL replied to Ira's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Glad to see your back at it. One of my favorite projects of yours. Im liking the smooth look after choppin those fins off. I was liking the taillights so I'm interested to see how you go about doing the new rear. Keep it going Ira -
Awesome, thanks Billy. I'll look more into that. I've just been hunting around for a nice set of pipes for my Merc.

Isn't that the Camaro he designed and built with YearOne? Pretty expensive kit none the less

That's friggin awesome Rich. They got that book done fast, you just finished those models not that long ago. Congrats, your builds deserve the recognition. -
Z'd, ZEED FRAMES SIMPLIFIED TUTORIAL
JasonFL replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I found your tutorial on another site a long time ago and used it on my 32 5 window ford and have to say it worked great. Everything lined up and was very easy to do. Thanks for posting it again Bill, great tutorial. -
I appreciate everyone's input but times are rough and I'm pretty strapped for cash. I can't even afford to send things out if I wanted to trade for materials or different parts. Believe me, I would love to have a bunch of different styrene but I use what I have. So on that note, does anyone have any other advice?
-
Thanks guys, I'll keep that in mind when I'm looking around for more material.

Like most of you guys on here I try and use a lot of things I have laying around the house. I've herd a lot of you guys saying you use old credit/gift cards, but when I tried to sand it down it seemed to have film on it. Ive used other plastic materials but haven't tried to paint on them yet. So my question to you guys is, how does everyone go about prepping the tiny parts and different materials like credit/gift cards, straws, the plastic tabs you use to close your bread, etc. Should I be soaking these in something first then sand? I usually prep everything first with a scuff pad so the glue and filler have something to stick to. Then when finished I wash the whole model with soapy water and rinse before paint but I had never used foreign plastic before. Any advice and tips I can get from you guys is always appreciated.

Man billy, this thing turned out b-e-a-utiful. You did some really nice work here, a lot of fun to watch the build. Gives me a lot of inspiration with my Merc build. Along with everything else, I really liked the exhaust you used, did you end up scratch building that or did it come out of another kit?

Heyyy there he is! Welcome back, glad to hear everything is going well for ya. Looking forward to seeing you get back to the bench.

Mannn, this thing is looking good! Keep it going -
Man, loving this build Rich. Glad to see someone slam this thing on the ground and that front end is ridiculous. I'm really wanting to build one now. Just curious but how are you doing the suspension? It looks like your just doing it simple and going axle over frame? Look forward to the rest of the build, keep it going.

I personally would like to see the rear slammed down and throw a cool bike in the back.

JasonFL replied to Albie D's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I know what you mean, if it wasnt for everyone on here I would of never attempted half the things I've done. Haha...well the Merc is coming along, very slowly but surely. Got the rear suspension all figured out but couldn't fit the exhaust so now I'm trying to decided were I want to run them. Maybe some side pipes. I'm gonna have to build them from scratch cause the chrome ones they gave aren't long enough. I'll keep you up to date, thanks for the interest. -

I'm with Todd, with all that work you mine as well body drop it. -
The front suspension came out great, very nice job. Just curious but I was wondering what kind of pins you used and if you had any photos of them?

You both have some really cool customs going on. As for you, I'm not sure I would call this build "mild" ahaha. Your doing some intense chopping but it's going to look mean when done. Liking that scratch built grill, keep it going, I'll be watching both builds. -

JasonFL replied to slowlylearning's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
If Mopar68 did make you cut this up you should thank him cause this is coming out cool as hell. I love that you slammed it but I really like what you did with that rear wheel opening. The front is different, looking forward to seeing what you do with it. Keep it going, I'll defiantly be watching and welcome to the site btw, a lot of great people with cool projects here. -
This is the only way I like these bugs, chopped and dropped. I personally like it missing that B pillar, gives it more of a stretched look. I saw a guy who chopped, dropped, and widened a bug before, looked so bada$$. Can't wait to see it done, keep it up.

Now that's a cool idea, very different. I haven't seen anything like this done. Gonna look really cool when it's all done, nice job so far.

65 Riviera Mid-school Cruiser Flaked Paint 6-6
JasonFL replied to Albie D's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Another amazing build by Albie. Man I love your style and I'm jealous as hell of the cool custom treatments you've done to the front and rear of this car. Filling those headlights in and putting that floating grill in there was perfect. I love how you made the rear all smooth with the frenched in plate. There's so much you can do with tail light options. Personally I think the round ones would look good we're you have placed them or maybe even lower next to the plate box. The other red taillights to me look way to big so I wouldn't use them and the chrome spear looking ones don't look half bad. If it were me I might go with one big thin LED light across the back or maybe 2 on each side or even 4 with 2 LEDs (one on top of the other) on each side. Hope that makes sense, sorry for all the reading, I'm sure you'll come up with something killer. Sucks about the paint but I think that color was perfect, good luck with round 2. Can't wait to see this thing all laid out with the rear and paint done. Keep it up, you know I'll be watching for sure. -
Id have to agree with everyone else, beautiful job on that grill. I'll too have to remember that trick the next time I need to build one. Gonna be a great looking little cruiser, can't wait to see it with that laid on there. I'll be watching this one.

Wow! Amazing job. Unbelievable details you put into this. I'll be honest, I didn't even know you had finished this project until I saw someone had posted it up on Facebook and even then I didn't know it was your model until I took a second look. Excellent work, you nailed every little detail.
-
First off i just wanted to say this thing came out great looking, you nailed it. Personally I think every little detail is just right but I was looking at what you both had said about the front rim and thought maybe if you just added a chrome trim lip around the rim and left the middle black it would match the sorta theme you got going on with the rear rim. Just a thought, either way you decided to go it still looks killer. Very nice job

Ahh that sucks. Have you asked anyone on the forum what might have happened? I'm curious to know what it could of been. Maybe some grease/dirt or possibly could of been the weather you painted in? Could be a number of things.
