Pro Stock Firebird "Pit Diorama"
eviltwincustoms replied to Mister Twister's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Wow... what a forum HOG!.... j/k This is an awesome build, the only thing this is missing is the pit crew scrambling around getting ready for the next round of eliminations. -
Hey Greg nice updates! I received my 1/16 scale Lenco tranny parts and I have to say that thing has a lot of detail. Only thing is the parts are so flippin small, I need a microscope. So did you drill a hold through everything to keep your center point aligned for the rod coming out the back of the Reverse section?

1969 Camaro outlaw prostreet updates 11/19/11

I have to agree with Robert, this is a very clean build and very well executed! I wish I could plumb a NOS engine as quickly as you can and look that great. What Stump said as well about you having an eye for detail, you capture every little detail I am just in awe... -

Very cool master cylinder bracket Chris... Sounds like you will be away from building for a couple weeks then with the OT coming on. Good thing is you will have some extra play money once finished! -

Man, I would like to find something like that in a Hedge Row these days. Nice touch with the Piston/Rod and the busted windshield. -
1;12 57 Chevy wheels ?
eviltwincustoms replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Your better off having Jim (MicroNitro) machining NEW wheels out of aluminum for it. If you have a picture or a drawing, he can machine pretty much anything you can dig up. -
So those of you with inquiring minds and have gone and purchased the 526 Hemi resin motor from Terry at Flashpoint motorsports... AS you see it on Derricks awesome build up of his motor is the correct way to place the heads and valve covers.

Fantastic job even for a Curbside build, looks like you didn't spare any expense on making this one as detailed as the rest! -
bobbit bumpers and mixers
eviltwincustoms replied to jacobus's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I would think that not only the bumper going into the tire... But not having it the trucker is more likely to drive into something and right over it without knowing. This would be very easy for a trucker to do, I know from Experience! I was sitting at a light and a big rig was in the left lane coming off of the interstate and decided to turn right. NO Turn signal. Needless to say his Right Front Tire was kissing my drivers door. When he decided to get out, he told me he was wondering why his truck wouldn't move forward! DUH!!! maybe because you were up against something? -

Tyrone, any plans in adding styrene along the rocker panels as well to transition off of your front valance? -
63 Pro Mod Vette.......Updated 09/28/14
eviltwincustoms replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Nice job on the update on the wheel wells... I am curious to know the base color as well. Guessing that military green or how about that Carhartt yellow gold color... Not much of the outdoors camo, shootem up, freeze your butt off in a tree stand kinda guy. But this is definitely a graphic that is off the beaten path. -
British tri chev gassers - anyone interested?
eviltwincustoms replied to Andrew's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I have never been much of a Gasser fan, but that "Roarin Rat" looks pretty mean. -
That is a great idea, I would go as far as to photocopy and put the original away. Put the photocopy in a shadow box with your completed build of the car.

It will be less than $80, because Tower Hobbies is selling the Peterbilt now for $71.99 and I placed an order with my local hobby store and they did one better for $5.00 off to stay locally instead of ordering off the internet. So I would assume the Kenworth will be about the same price. Oh and that $350 no one is paying that kind of money for the older models... you can get them still in shrink wrap for the $150 or less in mint condish.

Gareth, I am still pretty new to the Big Scale stuff but I venture to say, because I have not seen Hide nor Hair of anything in a Carb for 1/16 to be specific to what you are looking for. You may try the 1/16, I think it is the 1965 Street/Strip Corvette it may have Carbs on it. If not, you will be left to mock them up in Styrene and build from scratch the basic form. Same thing with your bucket seats use what comes with the kit and fabricate the necessary parts to make it recline and you should be good.

You can get them at Hobby Lobby or your local Hobby store.... or even Micro-Mark has them in stock! Chris I do have a question for you... I have never used Printing Plate, but does it have the same properties and the thin TIN plate that you can get at the Hobby stores? -
Keith, I just want to say that this is very heart felt and I appreciate you sharing your experience. I don't even what to think what I would have done if that was me opening up the box and finding out it was once my father's. This will be a great kit, and one that you will cherish forever knowing the story behind it.

I like that Vega, nice work.

I have to agree with everyone else! That rear end is just amazing, the detail you have into that and it being 1/25th scale to boot, is awesome work!

So hopefully someone can help me out here, and Derrick I see you have your valve covers mounted to the heads. I have been trying to figure out which way is the correct way to mount the heads up. To me, when I was looking at the heads and valve covers and I see Derrick has them mounted this was as well. The heads and Intake seem to fit and line up with the Intake for the blower. But...doesn't this mean the heads are upside down based on the taper on the Valve Covers? Should the heads with the taper go towards the top to match the valve covers? I have been looking all over the NET trying to figure this 10 Million Dollar question out. i am puzzled.

Looks pretty darn snazzy to me from here. Now will the bottom seat plate be going under your side panels for the finished look? So Chris what did you end up going with for that bottom substrate to get your end result? You are holding out on us! -

eviltwincustoms replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
count me in as well on the Pro Stock Wing, not much for the Top Fuel spoiler. They just don't look right on a door slammer. -
Mark, it really depends on the driver and how he wants his car... And for the builder just how much detail do you want to put into a Door Panel when it isn't seen but only when the door is open. Here are some reference pics that I used when building up my door and a pic of my actual door I built for my Pro Mod. And this last one was the Reference pic that I used for my build. here is my door on my 70.5 Pro Mod Camaro I hope this gives you some ideas to play with.

Nice job on the bike! Very detailed, would like to see more of the chain thing on the top that sticks up (what is that?) Sorry don't know much about bikes. By chance have you researched the aftermarket PE parts you can get for these 1/12 bikes? It is very expensive, but the different parts will show off even more of your fantastic bike build. They have after market kits for PE brake rotors, front fork and even a very detailed individual chain links with gears...
