  1. What Mike said, I know nothing about the older motors... But most don't run gaskets over the valley. It is just a bead of gasket stuff across the front and back. And just gaskets on the intake runner inlets on the heads.
  2. Sweet.... Glad I could interest you in another category for your canvas.... Plus I say use Robert to the maximum extent, because he knows his stuff in the 10.5 arena and turbos..
  3. Ken, Gregg, Derrick Chris and Bryan... Thanks guys for stopping in and making sure I am working on this project. I am pretty happy with the way that it is turning out.. There for a bit it was a little sketchy, because I was beginning to worry. Dave, Thanks for posting up that Xtreme 10.5 Vette... that thing is bad! I have got to get out to an Outlaw Event or something to get some more reference pics.. I wanted to post up a pic, for Size... here is my Pro Mod Vette, up against a 1/12 Mustang I just bought today. My intentions are to begin playing with it as well and turn it into something like this. I just have to now go out and buy another mustang so I can get started! Man... what to do with all these extra model parts that will never be used.... what a shame!
  4. Man Ray that sure looks nice, you are coming out smelling like roses on this build. Looks like you have been pretty successful with no issues with the build straight out of the box. I wanted to post up.... Look what I came home with today for $18.00 and some change! I guess it was 50% off and the 40% coupon or something, either that or the lady at the register punched in the wrong price... I wasn't aware that this mustang was this big when compared to my 1/16 stretched pro mod corvette... NOW I just have to buy one more mustang and can get started dissecting them.
  5. Luc can you PM me some more of the pics of that truck... It looks bad!
  6. Ken, I don't know how you can Contort that styrene but man you do a fantastic job. Well I guess I should ask of it is styrene and not fiberglass...? Care to share your secret on,how you made that hood happen?
  7. Man Dave that is just awesome. I wish I had just half your talent, I would be dangerous! Lol... Do you mind sharing how you did the great detail of the aluminum welds? Because that is an awesome touch of detail.
  8. Oh oh... See I knew Robert would be waiting in the wings to just swoop down and provide whatever you needed for reference in 10-5! Oh and that is one HOT tri 5 car!
  9. I say 10-5 car and use Roberts expertise! But that wasn't one of your choices... Otherwise I say gasser.
  10. Brodie, you can contact Tim at TDR.innovations@gmail.com Just go to the Old TDR store front and, see what you want, then ask Tim if it is something he can upload in 1/16 for you. I do think they have on the new site the 6-71 street blower if that is all the bigger you are looking for. LUC - Actually if you were kidding about that 1/8 scale motor in that truck, it does look pretty mean and could pass as a Muscle Machine! I really didn't notice you had Lego rear wheels on it, so based on the way the picture was taken they pass off as nice size rear wheels and tires for the project! What size is that truck you posted up? Because I would say the Flashpoint motor is not far off, considering you would need to raise it up off the ground a scale 4-6" using a chopped 30's style frame or something like that.
  11. Greg, looking at the Paul Rowe intake it is clearly not to scale... Very evident once you put that,18-71 blower on top of it. Looks like you, need to break down and get the TDR block and convert it to a BAE like I am thinking of doing. Then build an intake.
  12. Man I like this Camaro Funny Car! I have never really been much of a flopper kind of guy but this combines two of my favorite subjects. The 69 camaro and drag racing.... I have been trying to hold myself back from buying a 1/16 funny car to start as a project... John you are making this really hard for me here.
  13. Man that looks really nice! Chuck, do you plan on going back at a later time then and redoing the wheel openings on your decals to match the body more?
  14. Thanks for clearing that up Mark, because I have never built an engine. Been around them growing up but never the opportunity to build one up from the ground. However when I do look at some of the blocks/heads from this company they look like they are flush from Left to right with the face of the block in relationship to the heads. I take it this must be an optical illusion based on the way the picture was taken?
  15. Hey Luc, that is one awesome project you have going on with that truck! The Flashpoint and Paul Rowe engines are smaller than the TDR 1/16, so they are a bit out of scale but if you aren't building to 1:1 you will be fine. Paul's engine looks really nice with all the details it comes with as well, just a bit pricey. The first TDR engine you have is WAY to big due to being 1/8th scale. On the new site, they don't have everything loaded, you would just need to contact Terry and let him know what you are wanting. He will try and get it scaled down and then loaded on the new site if it can be scaled down due to the detail and size. The 1/16 Block and heads are the scaled down version from the 1/8th kit. The reason why those are the only things on the new site, is because I had asked Terry to see if they could be scaled down from the larger kit and uploaded. He is a great guy and will work with you... Just remember, "The Squeaky Wheel gets the grease!". If we modelers don't ask for something from the TDR group, nothing will get updated from the old site to the new site. They really look for us to let them know what they should get updated the quickest. I hope this helps you out!
  16. I say the solid strip like you have in your pic or the dashes down the said with the strip along the bottom like this one. I have been eyeing the 1/12 Mustang at Hobby Lobby, and thinking pretty seriously of doing one up like this.
  17. MicroNitro - Jim, I would really be interested in casting the body when done but I know nothing about the process. From what I hear the initial purchase of the mold and resin is some what an investment. So I don't think it would be a cheap for me just starting out. I wouldn't mind finding someone that would be willing to do the casting though. Any takers out there in Forum Land? Rom -Thanks buddy I appreciate the complement, means quite a bit coming from someone that is always willing to work outside his comfort zone and stretch his abilities. I truly admire that in a builder. Pharr726 - Rick- Thanks for stopping in and checking my little project out. I know I don't post as often as most on here, so I hope I am at least getting some worth while pictures posted up for those interested! Gasser59 - Brad - Glad you could take a gander at my project, it is slow going but I think it is slowly taking shape. I had been pounding my head on desk trying to think how I was going to do the A-pillars and get the window's to look right. But I think it turned out Ok for someone's first try at this much body work. I am right there with you, way to much body work even for my taste! Definitely don't like doing it, but I hope that from all this time and patience will pay off with something that looks darn close.
  18. That is fuel injection. That tube thing on top where Carbs would be is the injector setup. The rubber hose then feeds directly into the roots blower.
  19. It really depends on what the final color would be. By shooting the flat black, one could actually tape off any stripes. Then just shoot a pear and/or clear over the flat for the rest of the car and you would be done. Myself, I am more fond of the Red with white strip or Gun Metal gray with white strip GT500KR's. I guess that is why Ford makes the big bucks because they paint these cars in so many different factory colors.
  20. Joe, Greg, Brad and Kane.... and everyone else that has been stopping in and viewing the thread. Thank you all for checking in and taking a gander at my most recent update on the rear of my build. Brad, I hear ya buddy... I haven't had the opportunity to do any recent work on the project, I was in Lorain, Ohio last week for work. Plus been side tracked turning my attention towards the Vette and messing with the body work on the nose.
  21. Glad you were able to find someone willing to trade with you. As for TDR, they are not for everyone. You have to determine how much time and money you are willing to put into your model and what you are trying to achieve. You may want to check what scale you were looking at because the +$150 is for the 1/8th Scale engines.
  22. Gotta love it when my block project encourages others to work in more detail.
  23. You can go the way suggested, if you are not looking for good detail and proper scale. My suggestion would be to contact Paul Rowe and get one of his whole engine kits. Or better yet for scale 1:1 would be to get the entire 426 blown hemi kit from TDR.
  24. "Look it's a Bird (fire chicken that is), no it's a Plane, NO its a Camaro once again!" Looking good, even looks like the roof has been extended from where it was originally?
  25. Mike, looking good by chance do you have the rear end and your 4 link bracket set to mock up that rear part of the chassis? Usually you want the back part to be somewhere in the neighborhood of the same width if not a little narrower. Just saying because it looks like you may be a bit on the wide side of the house. If you have already test fit the rear end and where the shocks are to mount and are good then I say "power forward!" Keep'em Updates coming!
