Oh man..... Greg, that is looking just out right NASTY! great idea building from the cylinder bores out...never thought of doing it that way! If you plan to run anything in the cylinders, my suggestion would be to go to either brass or aluminum. I find the styrene just has to much friction. I knew you couldn't handle not getting that 69 Camaro from TDR, do you plan on building it alongside this one?

Scott on the ruler, I have to agree some times smaller is better but it sounds like you and I both have the same issue. I have noticed with having 2 projects going I am starting to lose parts for some time and having to search all over to find them. My thought was having this longer not only for wheel base set up but putting it directly on the plastic windows to mark out the holes for rivets. With that said you could do every scale 1/2" or 1", what ever makes sense. Do this for a specific length then go to every 1" or 1 1/2" kind of like you would see a scale ruler. Then the user could go back and use what part of the ruler they needed for hole placement, with the ultimate end result of the wheel base C2C. Myself, I say go for what is currently being used... so if it is Carbon then we just have a solid one. Now I would assume that the front rotor then would still be steel correct? But then again, I am only one single builder, so I would like to hear from others.

Nice job Ray on the BMF! The BMF on the heat shields looks really nice. Even the engine looks very clean do you plan on doing any sort of weathering? The reason why I ask, is I have never done much in the area of weathering my cars or parts so this is a technique I need to work on more to perfect.... So I like to learn from others on how this is accomplished. -
Thanks Scott for the update... you know how I feel about the parts already from our discussions. It looks like you decided not to go with the Multimedia route then for the Brake leavers and butterfly wheel and the T Handles for the Dual NOS bracket? So am I reading this right about the ruler, it is marked off in 1" increments C2C for each scale? What is the overall length of this ruler going to be? Is it then just 1" x 1" (in 1:1)? This might be kinda cool because it would tell you where to drill Holes for window screws for Lexan windows or rivets on trailers and such... so I think it is a great idea. In fact I wouldn't mind seeing it actually in a longer length. For those building 1/16 scale if the ruler would be at least 7.1875" C2C this would give everyone a Center 2 Center layout for a 115" wheelbase for a Pro Mod build and they could go down from their based on NHRA Pro Mod, Pro Stock and so on you would have something written in the center saying which points would be for what wheel base... Just a though.

Man Joe those rear wheels and tires with the decals look friking awesome! I sent you a PM for some insight from you... I have been looking for stencils for the Hoosier due to not wanting to end up with this so called silvering effect. Looks like yours came out exceptionally well! On that Paul Rowe motor, what are those two pieces at the bottom, is that the off set part for the distributor?

57 chevy pro mod w.i.p (updates 11/11/12)
eviltwincustoms replied to tyrone's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Tyrone, it has already been said multiple times, but you are just KILLING this one! Two thumbs up on the chassis and I think you know how to hinge the doors with your eyes closed! Care to share with inquiring minds on your secretive paint job? -
I have to agree with Robert, the build looks killer and I think that second try at your chassis you knocked it out of the PARK! Great execution. I have to totally agree, build the car how you would build it if you had the money available now and it was a 1:1. If you are running up against these guys and seeing it done, and it would be something you would run... Why that Heck not!?

Man, I bet it was just like Christmas when you brought that piece of equipment home. I don't think I would have any place to put anything that large in my house. Congrats on your new purchase!- 369 replies

Very cool build! No need to move this thread because we have had others post their bikes in here as well. I say as long as it is a large scale, continue to keep posting updates right where you are at! Bikes are a rare breed, and I love seeing what builders can do with them.... Keep those updates coming.

Man KEN.... I must have been sleeping, not sure how I missed these updates! I also appreciate the details you providing, this is great information you shared. I know nothing about sprint cars, and you make it look so easy.... It almost makes me want to try my hand at one of these just to see how much work you put into them. So are you building these for someone or are they going into your collection?

1/16th 69 Camaro ProMod 7/22/14 motor painted
eviltwincustoms replied to Romell R's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks Robert, that makes perfect since now that you say that. Now I feel stupid... Rom doing brass work sure isn't easy so I have to give you props for taking it on, because I know it is outside of my current modelling skills. I have the utmost respect for you doing what you are doing on this build to test your skills. Based on that pic, do you have plans to go back and fill in those holes and drill them in their proper place?- 245 replies

I agree as well... You are definitely a rare breed, and our community sure can use more like yourself in making decals.
-
Gregg are you done making it snow in your house? I want to see more details on,that chassis of yours, so I can learn some more new building techniques!
-
Clay any updates for us onlookers? Anxiously waiting for that next post with more crazy details.

Very cool looking car... I also took a look at the review, looks like you will have a sweet Cobra when finished. I'm more into the Pro Mod scene at the moment, would be cool buying two of these and turning it into a 1/12 scale Mustang shelby cobra Pro Mod.... Then I would have two boxes of parts I would never use all over again. -

Very cool looking Rom..... On that Block do you have closer pics to better see if one cylinder bank sets back further on one side? From the pictures I have looked it for this specific 5.3bore it looks like the passengers side sits back. This is where I struggled with mine, where you almost need to build it out of solid styrene. Then drill out each cylinder and insert aluminum or brass cylinder walls. I am still thinking of redoing mine this way so I can get the block to turn out better for the valley to insert push rods and lifters. Either way I am tuned in and waiting with baited breath on your updates.- 245 replies
