I built myself storage shelving for my eBay Store (selling first day covers to stamp collectors) from shoe racks. I bought them on eBay and beefed them up by adding bases and a stiffening bar up the back. Then I screwed them to the wall and banded the three together. Very sturdy. The reason I post here is that they'd be good for model car boxes, my configuration will hold 90 shoe boxes. Total investment $124.

Netflix sucks, but somehow modelers who still think that models should cost $2, will happily pay their inflated subscription price.

Since we are poking at driving commercials, here's one that's been airing lately that just laughable! And it's so ludacris that it's message is completely muted. Stoners just laugh at it! I'm upset that our public monies paid for this stupidity! It's about stoned driving... it starts out with four quick scenes of each of these people smoking pot by themselves on their way to get together. Then they get into the car and realize everyone is stoned and nobody should be driving, so they just hang out in their yard. First, anyone who ever smoked pot in their youth know.. 1. Four people wouldn't each have their own stash. There is always that one guy who never has weed, beer, cigarettes or money for McDonalds. That is the group mooch. 2. If you were on your way to meet 3 other people, you wouldn't want to be the only one stoned. 3. Even less attractive to be the only straight person with 3 stoned people you are supposed to chauffer somewhere! 4. Smoking pot is a community thing. You'd want to flash that doobie and share it with your three friends after you got to your destination 5. At least one of the guys would drive! Remember that old, "I drive better stoned than straight!" guy? Take that frickin commercial off the air! There! I feel much better now!

Model club meeting on Saturday. Summer meeting and only 5 guys showed up. But good guys! So we had a great conversation and business meeting around a table while eating pizza. Couldn't plan a better day! ?

Refunds are the curse of eBay sellers, as the whiny children want to return most of what they purchase

"Mint condition" is in the eyes of the guy who is trying to sell you something, and in most cases you won't agree

Attic finds are the best, especially when you find a long lost model car collection!

I would be honored to kick it off! I believe I already have a worthy candidate on my Shelf of Shame! Give me a few days. -
Frickin eBay! Their site has been funky lately, especially when listing. Either you get the "We cannot find that page" with the little kid looking up into his hood, or your saves just fail. As I'm trying to get a lot done, this is taking me double / triple the time per listing!

Super model, I'll be following this thread for sure! I've always wanted to build a Jolly in 1:24 scale but those wicker seats stopped me!

Yes. We have the one with the panels that match the cabinets. The first time my sister came to visit she asked if we had a refrigerator because she didn't see one! And the suckers have two compressors-- one for each the refrig and freezer.. already replaced one!

I'm pleased because I avoided a repair bill. My house has this huge built in Sub-Zero refrigerator. It had been dripping water lately and the ice bin was freezing solid so I figured it was the hose to the ice maker or the unit itself. I took a look and discovered that behind the lower bins in the refrigerator there is a drip ledge with a drain that was clogged with icky yellow muck. I cleared it, no more problem! Seems there is a condensate drain. I had no idea!

Service stations were named that in the old days when a guy wearing a white shirt and bow tie would run out, fill your gas, check your oil and tire pressure, while cleaning your windshield.

Great Volare! The last version of the Volare was a 1980 model and was out not all that long ago. As the mold exists, we may see it again. Unfortunately the mold was updated from the 1977 era car we'd rather see. It's interesting that there is interest now in this kit. Back in the late 1980s when I got back to the hobby, you couldn't give that kit away! I was buying them to pilfer the Suburbanite snow tires for my light truck builds. I was paying $5 a car! Then eBay came around and I sold some of them for $10-20 each and thought I had beat the market!

A great thought! I'd say the theme should be "Bring Out Your Dead"! Let's all pull one more unfinished model off the shelf and finish it in his honor! Thoughts? -
STRIPPER with LOTS of PICTURES * repainting a Beetle

Nice recovery! One comment for your friend... use Tamiya tape, at least at the critical separation mark. As you have painted the lighter color first, once you have the tape in place, spray the mating tape line with the lighter color (then let it dry) before spraying the other side with the purple. Then at least any paint that has crept under the tape would be the lighter color!- 21 replies
