  1. Congratulations Steve! Maybe they added the extra N to avoid paying the NNL royalties? ? Just kidding! One of the big worries of running a show is errors on your printing order!
  2. Looks great! Moving forward, I understand there are challenges in getting the front chassis to sit right. Something about heater tubes along top of inner fenders.. others may be more specific
  3. This looks great! I look forward to watching the rest of the build!
  4. So here goes... What makes you decide to buy a certain model kit, is it? -subject matter/theme; muscle cars, sports rally, cars, pickups, hotrods, racing, classics, boat, plane, other...? Subject matter is everything! I’m all cars and light trucks. I tend to like more unusual vehicles, and more mainstreamers than a lot of modelers. I will buy four door sedans and wagons over a Hemi convertible. -does the box art sometimes make you purchase something you really didn't plan to, if so, give an example of such a kit? Our tribe are not the average kit consumers. We already know what’s in the box, we buy what we want even if it came in a plain white carton. Still, I appreciate nice box art and have favorites. I even have that famous Revell 57 Nomad beach scene box autographed by Bob Paeth -does the manufacturer brand influence your buying choice, and if so, which is your preferred and least preferred and why? Again, we know what’s in the box. We know which kits are the best choices for the subjects we seek. -what do you love about building a model kit and what's the least favorite part of the process? I enjoy the planning stage, seeing the model in my minds eye and pulling together the parts to make it happen. It’s magical to see it take shape on my bench, especially if it’s coming out like I imagined. My least favorite part is cleaning up parts.. mold seams, etc. and some of the routine parts of basic kit assembly. -does a high parts count scare you as too much of a challenge, or does a low parts count make you feel the product could be toylike? No, I like a nicely detailed model with full chassis, but I don’t need a multi piece starter! I will put a modern detail chassis under a 1960s era kit to replace simple chassis. If a kit is simple, I can always add details. -what type of kit do you prefer (glue, snap, full detail, curbside)? I like a full detail kit like recent Revell offerings. Still, I will buy a simple curbside kit and sometimes build a full detail model out of it, and other times just enjoy building what’s there. -do you like building options, and if so, what (engine upgrade, choice of wheels, decals, other)? Yes. I think the era of getting two complete engines can a kit is over but I’d love to see that again.. a six and V8, or an original engine and modern Engine.. the AMT 41 Plymouth is a good example. -if you wish to give manufacturers a "non-subject matter" suggestion what would it be I think current manufacturers are doing a good job, with Revell and Moebius losing momentum due to changes of ownership. 5. I agree! But for me, I got too smart as soon as I joined a club back in early 1980s. John Slivoski was an insider who would update us monthly. And I don’t get excited easily. I don’t understand the guys who need that new kit the day it comes out, and will pay full MSRP at the local hobby shop. For what? Bragging rights? Most of them grok the kit for an hour and it goes right back in the box. The closest I came was the Revell Land Rover... someone found a mail order place in England that had them cheap. I ordered and received it.. and of course still haven’t built it!
  6. I went out at lunchtime today to a plumbing supply house and figured I’d check out the second Ollie’s near work. Same picked over assortment.. the snap kit Corvettes and Camaro, Escalades and a few of the trucks left. I did grab the last two T-Birds which made the excursion worthwhile.
  7. How come the simplest jobs become a major thing? This weekend my wife reminded me that the sink in our first floor powder room was dripping. I quickly deduce it’s the cold water faucet and open it up. Rubber washer is damaged.. easy enuf? I get out my box of washers and guess what? I have nothing that even resembles it! Off to Lowe’s we go.. nothing like it on the racks. I ask and dept guy tells me to go to plumbing supply house. I check Hone Depot as well, no good! I check over the entire unit, over and under.. no makers mark at all! So I take the washer and the faucet cartridge with me and check it out on my lunch hour... first question Mr Plumbing Supply House asks is, “What brand?” If I knew that I wouldn’t be there! He Rummages a bit and tells me he can’t help. But if I can get make and model info he can order the entire cartridge! The washer I need has a unique shape. Guy at Lowe’s said it’s quite obvious it was molded that way and he’s never seen one like it. So tonight I will remove the entire faucet from the sink. I will go over the whole thing for clues but have a fear I’m buying a whole new faucet for the failure of a dime rubber washer! It sucks since it’s a very pretty brass one. May have come with the house new.. leave it to Toll Brothers, makers of very nice homes while cutting every possible corner. I can only wonder where they sourced this puppy!
  8. It’s like a plastic iron bar is glued over your head! I don’t know if it will break the roof, I just have to either remove, lesson it or remove it!
  9. Exactly. Whatever was holding on the perfectly molded trunk lid melted in brake fluid! The part broke off and I will need to glue it back and mold it in again. The transition between the Continental roof and 57 roof will be problematic. There was plastic added above the side windows and that all has come apart. The biggest obstacle is that our original builder had glued in a block of plastic to the headliner area. I will need to either remove or sand it flat.. of course this is the one bit that’s glued in solid! Maybe I’ll start messing with this tonight. yes, both doors stripped well but they are messy where builder glued in door cards.. I have spares I can use.
  10. A lot of us would spend $10 on a nice set of wheels and tires!
  11. Very nice!
  12. I’d go for it! Gotta start with an old glue bomb!
  13. Out of the pond. It stripped relatively easy, paint came off in big pieces. That reveals some imperfections and things they have fallen apart. I will allow this to dry overnight and will access the repairs.
  14. Hey it costs nothing to list items. Why not shoot for the moon?
