  1. I worked on the fitting of the 4x4 transfer case into my Jeepster today. I needed to create a bump in the floor alongside the transmission jump to allow for it to fit. I found a shape in my scrap box, cut it to size, then glued and putties it in. Floor now will sit flat! Putty drying, will sand it all tomorrow!
  2. Hey Nigel, I thought you might enjoy this.. An American version sold through Chevy dealers.. the Geo Tracker! I bought this new in 1991, still have her! Four wheel drive and air conditioning too!
  3. I built this one a long time ago! I had the photos out for a purple theme on another board. Well received there so I thought I’d share them here. AMT Dodge van.. originally was going to build a cube van. Then I looked at combining both ends to create a pickup cab. Then I created a stake bed to get experience working with bass wood. I kept the rear windows from the van doors but filled in the door line detail. Used kit tail lights too. I believe the paint was Pactra RC Colors with a clear coat. Viper wheels were originally put on temporarily but people liked it so they stayed. Important to anyone who wants to duplicate the cab.. the two roof areas do not mate well.. they are at different levels. The van roof may appear to be flat but it has a continuous curve. I had to add plastic inside the rear section since I sanded through the roof getting it all level. And here’s what was left of the van after the cuts. This section bummed around the model room and got used as a paint stand for years until I looked at it one day... And it became this! Never throw away old parts.. waste not, want not!
  4. Cool! Good to see you posting here!

    Great work! Keep on posting!
  6. Hey you! Post something!
  7. I urge people not to make hasty decisions right about now! We are months into this pandemic thing and we are not thinking straight! I know I’m not thing straight and worried about the future as I sit home. I’ve decided not to make life changing decisions and to just ride out the situation!
  8. I feel your pain! Going through the same thing with a Jeepster transfer case that won’t fit under the floor! A lot of rodders use aftermarket mini starters because of this. Just cut starter length down as needed and nobody should complain
  9. A couple people mentioned pinning so here are some illustrations.. I use straight pins. They are firm, strong and cut easy with a regular wire cutter. I pin everything I can. Above are two mirrors that have been drilled out and pins inserted. and here they are test fitted before paint. You should glue on the inside of the body and you won’t have any glue visible at all. The pins fit so tight in this one that I never glued them. Just press fit.
  10. Yes, I used Micro Kristal Kleer for years. Great product. You can just wipe off any that gets on glass with no ill effects. If you go to Hobby Lobby, this is the brand they sell. Works just as well. I also use this scrapbook double sided clear tape for installing glass. It comes in different widths, I like this 1/8” size. Bought at Michaels. You can use along with the above two cements too. I will sometimes tape the top edge and then use the glue in other three edges.
  11. Nothing like spellcheck! I wind up going back and fixing a lot of my posts, mostly from phone posts. The other day I was posting about my Jeepster and i typed as far as Je.. and it gave me choices of Jesus or Jews!
  12. Welcome to the board! I’m an American but lived in Pirmasens when I was a child.
  13. I’ve had sheets of self adhesive carpet, I believe it was for dollhouses. I avoided using it in cars for the reasons you state. I used the red in my Dodge A100 van
  14. Overall I think this looks amazing! I found one of these in a vendors box of old built ups at a show and it was a gluey mess! And of course he wanted enough that I felt I could get a new one! Still looking!
  15. With shortages of goods during the pandemic we should change this to “What I Didn’t Get Today”! We didn’t get a dishwasher! Ours died in June. Ordered one with two week delivery promised on June 12. Last week, July 12, we get a call to accept delivery for next day. That morning we get a call it was in error because they don’t have it! Two more trips back to Lowe’s since they don’t answer their phones... Today we asked the salesman what did they actually have in stock.. out of 20 or more on display, 3 in stock.. two very expensive and the third one he couldn’t find and said the inventory must be wrong. We ask our best option.. he says to hold out for the one we ordered since we bought it on sale and it’s now $200 more.. ETA? Mid August! So we hit another store and same story! So we wait! And we hand wash dishes..
  16. Very cool build! I’m still examining the photos and finding new details
  17. So sorry to hear this my friend! My mother had Altzheimers and we dealt with her decline and eventual death for many years. I know the angst and emotions, I wish you and your family the very best!
  18. On some American convertibles of this era, quarter panels, tulip panel (panel between rear glass and front of boot lid) and boot lid can be different shaped parts. Also the rear seat in a convertible can be more narrow to account for the pocket on each side that the roof bows fold down into. Sometimes with models of that era, the kit manufacturer only tooled the convertible interior and put it in the hardtop version of the kit too.
