Matt, it's lookin good, the interior work looks good too.Don't worry bout the engine, ALL small blocks look the same from the outside, unless it's a late model LT-1 block, then it won't have a distributor in the back, but BEHIND the water pump!

NONE of Mongrams 55/6/7 kits are accurate. They're just as bad as Revells early 55/6/7 Chevys. Those poor kits are only good for parts, and I have NEVER seen a built up one look acceptable. They were too busy tryin to come up with "working features" to make them even slightly accurate and buildable.I still see some of those early kits goin for more bucks that they're worth. The artwork on the ORIGINAL 57 Nomad release is the only good thing about them!

I think a TURBO would REALLY kick some arse! Again,GREAT job.

Grandt Line makes some BEAUTIFUL nut w/washers in various sizes that'll work for 1/25th models, and the AMT 71 Charger has a real nice lookin Carter carb. So do the Revell 68/9 Dart kits. Hope this helps. -

george 53 replied to E St. Kruiser50's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Ok NOW yer slackin! ONLY 47 peices? Couldn't do an EVEN 50? just 3 little lousy peices an we'd have a Jen-u-wine half a hunnert peice dash! Ok that's enough now. I like it, an Clay an Custom hearse'll, just hafta get in line, caz if I can't have Hollywood, this'n 'll do. Great job Dave, as usual! -
Welcome Foxer! I saw that kit at the last show I went to. Yeah, Ray has alot of RARE stuff, but check it out closely to see if it's worth the hassle to build it. He is kinda hit an miss in his castings, but most of his stuff is workable without too much trouble. I've gotten quite a few models from him, so I'm talkin from expirence. Sometime he's the ONLY game in town! Looks like your gonna do alright there,kidd-o. Let us see some wip pics as you build yer lil Plymouth.
-
Ok Harry, I checked it out in the blown up(pic) mode, and all I could see to tell me was that cut out in the side glass, there looks to be a SLIDING section in it, TOO detailed for a model, to me. I go for REAL, probly wrong, it looks so nice though, I can't say, FOR SURE, but, that's my vote, an I'm stickin too it!!!

You guys should see this Bad Boy up close! Mike actually let me pick it up an scope it! Pictures don't really do this car justice, it's even MORE impressive when you see it live! Mike's a REAL talented builder, an he hasn't been at it 1/2 as long as some of us!!!GREAT BUILD Mike, I'm REALLY glad you posted it! Show the 62 Catalina, so they can see what we were talkin about detailing. His Cat's a REAL nice ride too, only not as detailed,BUT JUST as nice!!!

Such a shame. Good bet by the time those cars get to be worked on,they'll just be rusted hulks. Parts'll be so hard to find an expensive, that they'll just be towed away an scrapped. I HATE hoarders. They just let stuff rust away rather than let it go to be restored. How much longer ya think that Chevelle can last without proper storage?

looks good Ed. Man that engine compartment looks like it could swallow a jet engine, it looks so big! Was the top of the line engine a 394 that year? Either way, GREAT save an GREAT build!!!!

Caswell Plastic Plating System
george 53 replied to a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Caswell Plating System? What is it? Do you dip the parts, as in real chrome plating? I used to watch a freind plate stuff in his shop, and man, it was labor intensive! Ya gotta watch how long it stays in the solutions and wear ALL KINDS of protective clothing! Is this process similar? Can't see useing harsh chemicals on plastic. Sounds very interesting if it's safe,AND it works! -
41 Phantom Willys Roadster begins..! (Update) 3/20
george 53 replied to Hizoot's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Just wondrin what was so wrong about the Willy's? Ithink it's a nice kit. Is it somehow not properly purportioned? It LOOKS right, And it does build into a nice kit. Plus, it can be used for some GREAT parts! -
Real nice build Bern. I think you sure did capture the look you were goin for,I like it! Thats probly what most of 'em looked like back then, varieing on what the owner could afford, no doubt. Looks nice, Yep, I like it!

Benefits of a paint booth?
george 53 replied to Aaronw's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Aaron,If your S/O has a sensitive nose, a spraybooth is a God send! I built mine from an old 70 cfm bathroom fan, an an old microwave stand. My 1st one vented outside, my 2nd one vents into a water/charcole filter system that TOTALLY kills any fumes or smells. It doesn't need outdoor venting. But if you get one, you'll be glad you did! -
