WoW Lyle, that looks nice! Was it a REAL car or just Lindberg's wishful thinking? Yours looks nice, did it build easy, or did ya hafta put the "Willits" touch on it? Looks NICE for an old Palmer kit! -

Chuuuuuuccckkkkk, NO pictures? I don't think I've seen that kit either,Man pictures wooda been great! -
Nice job EC. The color combo is eye searing! It is different! Body color is close to the black cherry that they came in, in 96. Always did like that color, but mine only came in black!

Ain't that just a NICE lookin car? The 61/62 were my favorite years of early 60's Chevys. Not that the later ones(63/64) weren't nice, but I just think these two years are the most stylish. REALLY nice build Tom, It's nice to see ya finally got it!I know the feeling!!!!

Yeah,George, it looks like the snapper to me. Too bad they din't pop that as a true glue kit,I like the 3window MUCH better than the 5 window anyday! It's just a prettier style, more classier to me.Yeah Jody, put some lenses in them slots an call it a day!Looks good!

60's styled 2005 "RETRO-VETTE" COUPE
george 53 replied to E St. Kruiser50's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I dunno Dave, The closer it comes ta beein done, the more it looks different. It has a......retro-racer look. Like it shoulda been at Le Mans in 66/71 It LOOKS like a race car, kinda like a Cobra Daytona or somethin. Either way, I'm likein it! I think the wheels an tires you pick will be what makes this car, and THAT's sayin ALOT!!! After all the work that you've done, them rollers better be the mook!!! Great build!(as usual!) -

How Out-of-box is OOBS?
george 53 replied to gowjobs's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
PERFECT EXAMPLE of what I was sayin on another thread. That ya don't REALLY NEED extra detailing stuff alot of times! Mike Garrett, aka"raisin" and I were talking about this same thing at our last meeting. He has a BEAUTIFUL Black on red 60 Ford Galaxie, It's ALL detailed out with the P/E scripts, wired engine, fully detailed E/C, the works. Next to it sat a 62 Catalina with NO extra oob detailing, and just using washes and varying shades of paint, some contrasting colors, and BAM, it looks almost as nice(really, just as nice, but without the goodies!) as the fully detailed one, and it was an oob build. No extra detail, no wiring, nada! So it does prove to ME that a VERY NICE model CAN be built right out da box! Props out to my man Mike, for buildin such COOL models!!! -

Well It's always good to know da folks at da top!Put me down for 2 of them Cutlasses when they're ready Tonio! I'll be watchin this thread now! -
It IS a REALLY NICE job! Looks "factory",and believeable! Great conversion!
-
Ere ya go kid! Funny what a lil prime 'll do Eh? She's lookin good Tony, DON'T stop now!!!!
-
Quick rule of thought, If it has an opening hood and an engine in it, it NOT a promo. No detailed promos, other than what Bill mentioned, were ever sold/given away at the dealerships, caz they woulda been too expensive! The CHEEPSKATES!!
-
The engine compartment looks great! Mike Garret an I were just talking about this at our last club meeting. Sometimes folks just go over the top with the detailing and end up makin it TOO busy. Yours has just enough, it looks GREAT!
-
Even in PRIMER that body style is to KILL! It looks like it's movin at Mach10,JUST SITTIN THERE!!!!! If it looks this good in prime, it'll be a killer when it's done! Carry On!!!
-
I see the picture jus fine Harry, an I'm callin REAL! Yep, fer sure, allritie! Oh, and Good Morning Harry! hope you slept well.
-
Clay, Harry's on "Harry Time", it varies as to who's askin! Right now it's7:30 in Chi-Town you know, he's just now slippin into REM sleep. We GOTTA give 'im his beauty rest(Lord knows he NEEDS it!) Oh, the heck withit, WAKE UP HARRY!!!
-
Dr Dee, those kits DO come complete,Just add Geezermans imagineation! That is the essence of modeling to me, THAT's why I just HAFTA admire what these guys can do! Just go back in their memories, an build what THEY REMEMBER! I had TOTALLY forgotten about my coucins Ray an Teddy's 48 Chevy dunebuggy! It was just a chassis with rollbars welded in,but it was SURE ALOT OF FUN!!!! These builds remind me of simpler less complicated times.
-
Thanks Geeze! Finally, A use for that nasty lil red body that came in that kit! I used the chassis in a lil Fiat coupe I was buildin, and I'd been wondrin WHAT icud use that body for! It don't look undersized wit 1/2 of it gone!!!

Scratch built hearse
george 53 replied to slant6's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
WoW Will, that sounds COOL!!!! Ya know, it would probly be better if ya built the basic structure from Evergreen or somesuch plastic. Then, once the basic frame is done, you could cover it with real thin dollhouse veneers! Sounds like a KILLER build! -
Scale,scale,SCALE!!!!!!
george 53 replied to george 53's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ya know Harry,I let ALOT of nice kits go by,because of my mis-guided scale bigotry! I didn't start buying 24th scale cars/kits till about 20 yrs ago, and those were Danbury/Franklin Mint models. I do buy 24th scale models, but I just don't build'em! Scale bigotry rears it's UGLY head yet AGAIN!!!! Now that I see what your talkin about, I'm just gonna be happy with if it LOOKS GOOD to scale, I'm buyin it! -
Here goes the scale thingie I was talkin about in my other post! Does International make 2 different cab configurations? The lil dude really looked like he matched BOTH cabs pretty good. Who's right? I have a few D&G trucks in my collection, and THEY looked pretty well to scale with my Chevy, Ford,an Dodge pick ups!
