From August 1-3 the U.S.127 Garage Sales were Held, Which I found a bought a complete and non built Ladder Chief fire truck kit. Sunday came , and Decatur Indiana has it's once a month flea market. This is where It became well worth buying two built truck kit's for $10.00 each. First is the rare and very pricey Ertl Transtar 4070 A, Then a very original California Hauler Peterbilt. I was a deal of a lifetime, and one I didn't pass on! -
So glad I went to the Flea Market in Decatur Indiana this morning! Maybe my luck is changing to good again? Spent $40.00 for these All were $10.00 each! Very happy that I got the Transtar 4070 A which will join my International truck collection. The Camaro will be getting shipped to a friend of mine. The Mustang is missing the front bumper, and is a screw bottom kit with no paint work done to it.

The state of Ohio want's to suspend my Licence even after I went a got the sr 22 they wanted, plus paid the reinstatement fee. I got a letter of supension today for not fileing an appeal. They gave three choices to stop the suspension I got the sr22 and paid the fee which was option #2 Option 3 was to send a check for 30.00 for an appeal. All this because of a one car mishap back in 2000!

BRBO 2020: International Paystar tractor
ranma replied to Sam I Am's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Center but about a tad small than the circle in the picture. This is for the air cleaner , so note the hole size on the air cleaner. -

Just two suggestions for you. 1. drill a hole in the hood where the vent goes. 2. The vent bars should go vertical. -
As much as I love station wagons, I would rather had seen round2 find and reissue the old MPC '68 Impala.

The 4300 "race truck" was put out when it was popular to race big rigs on race track's If one recalls Smokey and the Bandit 1 & 2 They called them Truck rodeo's. Most of the truck raced at those events were regular used trucks . Also if you look close at the 4300's photo you'll see that it was using the 4270 frame with the air ride suspension!

International Transtar 4200 Formerly a 4300
ranma replied to ranma's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The hood is longer on the Transtar 4300. Note the posted picture's of a 4300 and the 4200 I just made. -
With some minor cutting, and a little alteration A Transtar 4200 made from a Transtar 4300 kit. The only part's cut down was the hood, and the bandjo air cleaner. altered parts are the rear cab mount and the exhaust system. The cab mount was moved forward on the frame from it's original location on the 4300 frame. Thus a 4200 made from a Transtar 4300 kit. I painted the truck to match the Original 4200's molded in colors

with AMT issuing so many Coca Cola cars, I decided to kit bash a ERTL International S-Series 2575 with AMT's Ford Louisville. Mainly because the IH's frame was toast, and because I seen quite a few of those S-series working for Coca Cola. The 2575 parts include: the complete cab/hood, Fuel tanks, tires, wheels, front axle, Engine, raidiator, Battery box and front Bumper, while the Louisville supplied the rest.

Bought a built MPC stop light bandit '82 El Camino. Which was easy to get apart to go on and be STOCK. Since the hood from the '86 El Camino was the same as the '82 's stock hood I used the stock hood ,tires, wheel's and engine from the '86 El Camino. Not to waste the Stop light bandits custom parts I went and used those on the '86! "waste Not want Not " sort of thing.

Why would AMT do this?
ranma replied to highway's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
IMHO AMT/MPC semi truck kits are FAR below the ertl standard of detail! Really the Ertl tuck kits were far better detailed, and much easier to build! AMT didn't number their parts well nor was there instructions that great. Ertl parts fit was also better than AMT! Look at the AMT Ford Louisville kit's no hood hinges, Freightliners two part cab. Now compare those to any of the IH truck kit's that ertl produced! Also the AMT interior had very faint detail on the door panel's -
Why would AMT do this?
ranma replied to highway's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Maybe they did that for the same reason they dropped the ertl name off the kit's that were originally ertl, and switched them to AMT? Just because they could do it? -
Anyone know when round2 dropped the ertl name off the model kits? When they reissued the Great dane expandable trailer it now just has AMT and also say's Many unique AMT features as where the Original kit was ERTL...

Ertl"s International Transtar series of kits.
ranma replied to ranma's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
And this was more than likely what Harvester wanted for the kits, as they were made from IH blueprints. The change to the different suspension system would have been on the blueprints (IE) the Model to match that would have the change over as well. Harvester had control over the kits being issued by ertl. The First run issues of the 4070 a/transtar 4270 were sold to factory employee's through IH it's self. That was before they hit hobby store shelves in 1973.
