  1. No problem, I got ya. You're right most chrome needs to be stripped any way for seems etc. Chrome just doesn't look right some times I,m guessing a lot of modelers never seen this kit before so they're surprised when they see the satin finish.
  2. Correct but when those kits came out originally in 79,80 Alcad didn't exist for that matter a lot of paints ,aftermarket stuff and supplies didn't either. Modelers had to be more creative. For anyone buying that kit that was Monograms intent more so than a defect.
  3. Wandered about that Found some on evilbay $99 free shipping
  4. The Astro chassis makes an excellent universal chassis. If I remember right White during the 60s and 70s used a tube shaped crossmember which was carried over to some Western Star trucks to this day. I know my 2004 WS had them as did a friends 1968 White 7000. Glad I could help Jakebus.
  5. Found a picture of the intake style I remember hope it helps.
  6. The Monogram 1/16 kits are supposed to have that satin finish on the wheels and tanks it was their way to simulate aluminum
  7. Longbox55 is right I had a 96 f250 460 truck with the ttb on coils. Seems to be based on gvw options. As you know f250s and 350s have options for gvws (gross vehicle weight) ratings.
  8. Interesting, been thinking about Euro truck project for a change of pace. Italeri makes some nice Euro truck kits. If we let them know were out here by participating they'll bring on some new kits.
  9. The truck and trailers aren't bad considering they're 43 years old. They still can be built up nicely.I guarantee there are more model L700s than real ones as it was not a hot seller.
  10. They used Ford blue on Cat Cummins And Detroit in the early 70s
  11. Wonderful build. I wonder what the exchange rate is between the dollar and the pound. That kit sells for 100 to 135 dollars here in the states. Might be cheaper to buy it online from overseas. I want to build one myself as it would be something a little different.
  12. Nice build, Looks like this kit is worth the price.
  13. these pics show the 84" and 88" cabs. The red and white truck is a 1980 with 88" cab The dk gray and white truck is a 1977 with 84" cab. (note the 84" cab has 4 grab handle while the 88" cab has 3)
  14. Actually lasted into the early 90s some states were stubborn. Oregon was one of the last. All states and Canadian provinces are part of IRP now.
  15. The l 700 with the black van,the Coke version, the flat with 40 Ford, the red Skelly tanker and the chrome tanker are readily available at normal prices at many online hobby shops, Ebay,LHS etc a quick web search will find them. The trailers seperately and the crushed car load version have yet to be released. As far as the L 700 and various trailers go they've been released many times since IMC introduced them in 1969 under Lindberg and Testors names. I would check with Model Round up they have many scarce kits even though these aren't scarce yet. Generally you can get any of them for 40 bucks or less.
  16. Sorry I should have been clearer I was directing my question to Cargostar. There is (was?) a 113" bbc prostar that uses the Max force 13 ,ISM Cummins and C13 Cat. Of course the Cat is no longer available and if Navistars plans are true the Cummins won't be either. Never the less thanks Dave keep em coming.
  17. Why was this post moved? It isn't general truck discussion it's posting on a model.
  18. Thanks Tim always enlightning. I remember a lot of 335 Cummins at that time.
  19. I believe Tim said it's about a 1970 but yeah he should.
