  1. You are probably just shooting too close to the body.
  2. Nice construction of the engine. Welcome to the forum. Hope to see you finish that duesie!!
  3. You may be correct that the blower drive has its own compartment, but the intake it sits on is in both of those compartments. That is where I found the notches at the bottom does not cover it. If you look at the bottom of the box in your first photo, the second bank of blowers, the notch continues into the other compartments. I have an arrow pointing to where I am talking about.
  4. Thanks Ace, for the clarification. I thought this was sorta a fake out.
  5. Yes I do know a blower makes a distinct sound. But if you connect a belt to a blower on a bench it would make that sound also. I was looking more at the intake ports, at the bottom of the box, It looks as if the notches would be the culprit for air leakage to the compartment where the belts go through. I have never had to make a manifold, because all the parts for my big block 454 could be purchased. I had a Mooneyham 471 on a 454 in a 70 Chevelle for several years.
  6. After watching this vid. Something is funny. At 5:13 in the vid it shows the manifold construction. The manifold was made from wood, covered in aluminum. With the blowers mounted, it looks as if there would be a air leak, through the slots provided for the belt drives. I have very little knowledge about the diesel engine, but just looks like the blowers are there just for "wow" effect. Stacy David shared a similar vid on Facebook today. I did a little more research to find this one. You REAL mechanics may have more insight, but just looks like a big fake out to me.
  7. Here is some video of the recovery of the Vettes from the sinkhole at the Corvette Museum.
  8. I met Tom, many moons ago at a car meet. He was approachable and really personable. I still have a cartoon, he made at that show, Pasted in one of photo books. My condolences to his family and friends.
  9. Nice build is a lot easier to say then, That is a nice collection of parts assembled systematically and finished with the utmost collaboration of pigments. I also won a bet with a professor when I claimed that I IS can be used properly, when he claimed it couldn't be and would pass me with honors if I could prove it, I did, I is the ninth letter of the alphabet. I won my case and the "A" that went along with it!!!
  10. Too bad the Government will add emissions equipment, and restrict it's speed to a whopping 120mph. LOL
  11. You can use the body, with a torino taledega chassis.
  12. Really nice builds. Filling out the complete years of Daytona. Keep em coming!!!!
  13. 1969 Daytona Winner-Leeroy Yarbrough, Mercury Cyclone Polar Lights kit
  14. At the local Family Dollar Store (Chain) they have their label brand says compares to future. It cost $2 and it is the same as the Name Brand. Just an FYI for you. I apply future to my tires, before I paint the lettering.

  16. http://www.flex-i-file.com/ Here is the link to the flexi file webpage
  17. Being frugal, I always look for cheap storage of Createx size paint storage. At the Michaels craft store, I found these memory boxes, that measure 7 1/2 x 11 x 4 1/2 inch tall.. I numbered the lids of each bottle of paint, on the lid numbered and put a corresponding color of each bottle for a quick and cheap storage option. hope this might help others as well.

  19. Liquid electrical tape, can be found at Radio Shack, Harbor Freight. Also Plier handle dip.
  20. LMAO, Sorry Paul, but it sounds like your wife is tolerant of your hobby. My wife is happy that my hobby now keeps me at home more, and less travelling across the states. With the exception of a few shows that I attend. Also the toys I now purchase are less in cost than the 1:1 racing, and also the R/C car racing.
  21. Tom, thank-you for the PDF you offered. It was very informative, and right now I am in the middle of purchasing a Woody, so I can try it out. The only thing I don't have is a rapidograph pen, but that should one of my next purchases when I get to the Micheals store. Again, THANK-YOU, that should make my woodgrain much better than the method I had been using.
  22. Let's not go there. If I asked my wife that, i would have been asked how can you see out those black eyes...LOL Remember Valentines Day is friday. Buy her some flowers and buy yourself a few more kits. Just tell her I said it was OK....LMAO
  23. I found 2 pics of the harnesses in the JPS Could be a 3 inch wide belt, looking at the driver strapped in.
  24. No prob Al. Make it to St. Michaels on May 3rd. More vendors, and also our Spring Fling model contest. Theme of 50 years of Mustang, and sub-theme, the 49 Ford is ready to collect social security. You can find all the info on our website, http://northcoastautomotivemodelers.webs.com/
  25. You could try a manufacturers website. The only one I am familiar with is Simpson http://simpsonraceproducts.com/ My belts from back in 1979 were 1 3/4 inch wide. I think that size is still available, although different locking mechanisms.
