  1. I have mixed an acrylic paint with future for window tinting. I used Tamiya transparent colors. I shot several light coats til I got the coverage I wanted.
  2. Here is a pic of what I found.
  3. Hey Dr Cranky, after viewing your vid on youtube, i found some of those strips but they are a color changing style. Found them in a dollar store for 1 buck. I have not tried them yet, but after I do, will give you some feedback. Also bringing up the nail sections of the stores, I also found nail jewels, and I used some for blue dot tail lights on a car.
  4. Plastic Performance parts sell resin wheels of the vintage nascars and have the tires to go along with them.
  5. I found some at the Dollar General and it was just labeled Floor Shine, but a little balloon on the bottle said, compared to Pledge Future. It is an Acrylic Floor Finish and was only $2. I have used the original, and ran out, when I found this, works the same.
  6. One of my paint resources is an auto body paint supplier. They at their location, can mix any color paint, and put it in a spray can. This does add some cost, but you could get the factory color in a can if you wish. I would check on this in your area.
  7. warm water and a soft toothbrush, or q-tip
  8. They were run off the receiver pack battery which in most cases was 5 volts.
  9. Don't try to give it a wet coat. As it is drying, it is gasing out the thinner. Light mist coats, when the humidity is high, is a much better way for the paint to gas out and not blush. Just my thoughts and I paint in high humid conditions alot.
  10. How about removing some of the inner wheel well and leave the fenders on if they clear the tires? Just a thought. You could swap in a flathead Ford engine.
  11. I am doing a Pro Street Style dash in my Nova, and I went to the home improvement store and bought a piece of roof flashing. It is thin Aluminum and is in a "L" shape that measures 6"x6"x5". Can be cut with a knife(score and snap) or cut with scissors, alot of material to play with and cost about 50 cents a piece. You can use hole punches to make places for gauges. Just another thought from outside of the box...
  12. http://paintref.com/paintref/index.shtml This is my go to website for colors on vehicles
  13. http://www.emachineshop.com/ While I have not used them for any modelcar parts. I have used them for making parts for R/C Cars. They have made parts for me out of aluminum, delron, and lexan. They have a program (for free) that you can download, use to design a part and have the part made. They also can reproduce parts shipped to them.
  14. You can also order these direct through Tandy Leather http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/department/hardware/grommets-eyelets/grommets-eyelets.aspx
  15. Try putting it in a ziplock bag and put in the freezer overnight. This may cause the glue to become brittle and crack off easier.
  16. Craft Stores, I got mine at Pat Catans, Round and rectangle. They were about $2 each. Glass Stores that repair store fronts, sell mirrors, cut to size, but they are a little more expensive. But they can cut any size, shape.
  17. I guess you could go to that post and click on edit and erase it
  18. Thanks for backing me up on this Art. I purposely left out the smelling nice part, so others may find that out for themselves.
  19. I actually have my dehydrator running and right after spraying I place the parts right into it
  20. Don't forget to check the Salvation Army, thrift stores and second hand shops. I purchased several dehydrators from these type stores. I have a ronco, that I paid $3 for and an american harvest with temp control and fan, I just cut some of the trays out, leaving the outer ring for the height. This American Harvest cost me $8.
  21. I used talc powder mixed into my paints to make them appear flat. Only takes a little, or otherwise you will have to thin more.
  22. I went to revell.com, looked at the JJ Vega kit, and from looking at the instructions, looks like a hemi.
  23. I bend roll cage bars all the time, and I bend them around a mandrel the size I need, and apply heat from a hair dryer, while bending around the mandrel. Do not overheat. I bend rod, If I need a hollow end, I do the same as zenrat's post above.
  24. In his article, he said you could also use oil paints and mineral spirits. I use thinned acrylic paints myself.
  25. You can find several for under $500. My determining factor is the cost of the toners. Microcenter.com has a good selection, and you can price the toners. I have used the Brother and the Minolta at their store, and tested printing decals. Both printed what I had with good results. I still haven't decided which one I will get, yet.
