I remember seeing a Similar Thunderbird at Dover a few times. But it was White. Dover Downs IS only 75 milts North of me!!! 72 was the first time I went, I want to say it was #10, and from Norfolk area. ONLY team to drive past my house both directions (Using Bay Bridge--Tunnel between Virginia Beach & Cape Charles--Northampton & Southampton counties)

I expected the higher price when Model King pieces were first announced. Look at Revell's SSP series. They are priced higher then regular issue kits. I also believe Ertl's Buyer's Choice kits were more than regular run kits back then too Though I Only ever got the 63 Galaxie Sportsroof NEW! (I ordered it through another Hobby Shop when BC-1 came out- - I actually ordered it & the Mercury, but only got the Ford then) I Was shocked at How expensive the first one I saw was. The First run.box art 59 Imperial was $32.99 at the Hobby Shop back then. I Did Not get it then, (And that place Closed a few years ago as the city took the building for Chamber Of Commerce services,) But Did get one a few years ago in trade. I got the second run/box art version. I would buy more if I could!! Will we see it re-issued again soon as a Retro-Deluxe kit???

I save empty Kit boxes They com in handy for Resto's found at Yardsales, flea markets, or that evil auction site. Those Collector card boxes that are used as mailers, and replacement Promo boxes can not hold disassembled kit too well!!! And, Yes, I have empty Cereal boxes. They do have Collectible versions every so often. (Star Wars Collectible Pen inside and Mural on back in sections to name one) They aslo come in handy as Storage containers for Parts, disassembled kits etc. If any one here has any empty kit boxes, And the Mini Boxes from Retro-Deluxe kits I will Gladly take them. I need as many as I can get!!!!! Some kit boxes have 2 & 3 models in them!!! MK 64 Comet Caliente has a Combination 57 Squire, Resin, Ranchero & original parts build up as well as a 64 Falcon Sprint Futura Convertible Promno in it Besides the Comet! Modern Classics issue Benz Gullwing box has Promo & Turista Turismo issue 62 Galaxie Hardtops in it!! I have a Cereal box wit 2 67 T-Birds in it another has 2 Crhysler Turbines!! Should I go on?? I want Boxes to store resto projects as they offer better protection (parts loss, damage/broken parts) than bags or NO storage container!!!!!

All re-issues of the AMT 63 Impala include Both the Promo/craftsman engine insert for the chassis as well as the engine to place under the hood. I am not sure though if they ever corrected the lack of Radiator wall/firewall. I have the Prestige issue and the one after that, but none of the later issues. I used one in a stretched Monogram 59 Impala chassis for my Resin (Miller Memorabilia) 60 Olds 98 Convertible Here's hoping if they Retro-Deluxe this one they punch out those cast in place tail lights and tool up separate lenses. Due to the shape & detail it is IMPOSSIBLE to make them look good as is They are too small, and have too deep an inset, and center to foil and use clear red paint!! I am Not sure simply painting them flat red will look too good either!! If I can get a set of Original lenses, Or resin copies, I will drill them out on ALL of the bodies I have!!

BMF Original Chrome?
Edsel-Dan replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I checked ordering directly, Shipping on One sheet was $12.oo!! NO way!!!!!!!!! Even if they Had Scotty's Transporter from the Enterprise.!! -
They did it in the "Bluprinter" Newsletter/magazine they were publishing at the time too. I have all the issues from that run to what it became when merged with their Collectibles/Diecast called Replica, through to the very last issue. I remember the biggest complaint afterwards was the name of one kit "Polyglass Gasser" NOT including that it was a 62 Pontiac Bonneville. NO mention of What it was at all!!!! That one would have had Many more votes if they had. I have the the first 4 kits from that series, 63 1/2 Galaxie Sports roof, 64 Murcury Park Lane Marauder and STP Turbine Wedge all being BC-1 issues, the Gurney/Olsonite Eagle I have is an Original Only the Galaxie did I manage to get NEW!!. All others were Later trades/purchases

The "Cooter's" issue 72 Cheyenne was the Last issue of the Original Annual 67-72 Chevy Pickup from the MPC tooling. Evidently it was Lost, That is why the AMT 72 GMC Short-bed Stepside was modified into the Cheyenne Longbox Fleetside we have had re-issued no less than 4 times '95 And to think the Modified Pickup kit commands over $35-40.oo with that many re-issues, is it any wonder why the Cooter's version demands So much more??!! I Would Love to see the Tow truck option return, but likely that was lost with the rest of the Annual Fleetside since that is what was Last offered from that tooling!!
-
Their Triumph kit Built just ended today Was under $20.oo last I looked. I know the Rolls & Mercedes were re-issued by at least 2 different companies After Hubley. I almost bought the Rolls in Pittsburgh as an Entex kit, but got the Estes Flying Klingon Battle Cruiser instead. (I already had Enterprise and AM a Trekkie) I Think Minicraft was the last to offer the Rolls. They had 2 box art, One a Phnatom "Squire" Woody!! After this time, I Would guess only those tools are left, and the Fords were scrapped. Afterall, The Rolls, Mercedes and Triumph would sell better in Europe & Asia Or the "New" owner would think so back then ??Late 60's-early 70's??

MAny years ago I had the Convertible version of this. Or PArts of it. It was Hot-Rodded and could not be restored to stock I got rid of it a year or 2 after getting it It was ??, what, Maybe 10 years before either version was re-issued I would Still love to get the Wally's 'Value Decorated' issue of the Convert!!> I will definitely look at this one. I wonder how long before the convertible is re-issued. I see the Boot cover in the parts pic!!

I have 3 of the Promo of the wagon, and fin ally got a Built of the kit. I have a Box for the Fairlane Sedan!!! I too wish these could be re-issued. I have Sedan & wagon 61's, but Neither is complete Worse, Wagon was Cut open to Pretend to be a Ranchero!!! Still a 4dr, and with second seat!!! Both 60 & 61 Sedan kits would be Correct Andy Griffith Mayberry Sherriff car!!!!!!! I know the Rolls, Mercedes, and "" were re-issued by Entex, and others, but, What Did happen to the tooling for these Fords??????

Revell 1956 Chrysler New Yorker
Edsel-Dan replied to 72 Charger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have 3 each of the 56 Chrysler kit 2 of the Stock Original's included the Box. I am Surprised Rev/AMT got all the parts in those Tiny boxes!!!!!!! It is BARELY as large as the kit builds, but Not tall (thick) enough to put a Built one in!!!!! Sadly, I only have 1 set of the 3 Figures out of 3 otherwise complete Stock 56 Chrysler's!! None were included in the Customized version I can offer the grill & hubcaps for resin casting. (offered before, but No one took me up on it) I think I have at least one of ALL the 56's versions of these kits They were First issued as 55's!!!!!! Surprising that the Ford Sunliner was re-tooled to Stock before being re-issue in the SSP program, while the Chrysler was Left Custom!!! Evidently the Cadillac & Lincoln Mark were never Customized!!. I Do wish they would re-issue the Buick & Mercury!!!!!! Those 2 always hit $40.oo PLUS when listed anymore!!!!! -
We need a '60 El Camino
Edsel-Dan replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would Love to see the Original AMT/SMP 60 El CAmino re-issued, as well as the Jr Trophy Wagon kit. And they DON'T have to change anything for me to want them Craftsman kits are Fine I have 2 of the 61 Galaxie, (And Falcon Ranchero from BEFORE the alteration of the kit to include the BBC) and 1 each of the Model King 59 Imperial & 64 Comet I would be in line to get more of those if they ever re-issue them!!! I do see the Imperial at low prices, but that Comet is NEVER below $35.oo!!!!!!!! Since Revell/Monogram has Not done any further kits from the 59/60 Impala series, I Doubt we will see any now (I had Hoped for a Convertible of the 60, but.....................................................) As for El Camino, Sedan Delivery & Wagon .......................................... All I can say is I Hope the 57 Del Rio sells WELL and that the 49 Mercury Woody is! I don't have either yet!! I Do want the woody, but MUST replace that Custom/Lowrider engine!! I Passed on their Chopped coupe. Unless I am building a replica of a Specific car/truck I ONLY buy kits not that can be built Stock out of the box!! I Don't have the friends others do that Give them Parts, etc, to Fix Non-stock kits!! And Now, I may be looking at getting OUT of the Hobby more than buying New kits!!!!!!!!! -
I think this looks like what "Mobsteel" did on the 54 Packard they 'Restofied' on the first show. Chrome was $14,000.oo + for all parts to $8,500.oo Just for the Grill!!!!!! I believe it is a 3 gun system. Base/adhesive, Water, And 'Chrome' And you have to Rinse every step Even while spraying the 'Chrome' Mobsteel is on NBC Sports (220 on DirecTV!)

As was said before, You CAN'T re-issue a kit that Tooling was Scrapped!!!!!!! That is why MOST Jo-Han kits & Promos are GONE FOREVER!!!! I myself am HAPPY for this one to came back! The "Custom Curbside Cruiser was a GREAT kit! I have ONE, but wanted more Try to get one right now for $20.oo!!!!!!!! They Might Start at that, but Climb over 30 to even 40-50.oo FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will pass on the Plastic axles and adapt to standard 1/16 inch Music Wire ones link in AMT & MPC kits. EASY to do-- Plastruct or Evergreen 1/8 tube drill out to 3/32 inner diameter inserted into axle mount on wheel, then 3/32 tube drilled out for 1/16 rod inserted into 1/8 tube Last just use AMT/MPC axle of correct length, or Cut one from New rod!! Plastruct 1/16 inch ABS coated rod is another option. (And Easier to ct than Music wire/rod!!!!!!!!) I am hoping the other Old Jo-Han Snap kits announced as the New IMC will eventually got re-issued by Moebius/Model King as well as the 59 Dodge show at iHobby last year. I do not know what other Old Jo-Han pieces MIGHT exist, but likely only a Few other X-El promo offerings. I Do wish the 31 Cadillac's were there, and most if not all the USA Oldies I am Betting that Most Not issued to some degree AFTER Okey too Full control do Not exist in Full anymore. ie 66 Cadillac Ambulance/Hearse & 68 Fury Police!!!

Cars of American Graffiti
Edsel-Dan replied to MGL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yea. That is the "Fun part of starting with a Diecast. So using 2 AMT Modern Tool Pacers might be a better choice But still, Stretching the body in the correct location(s)!!!! -
Cars of American Graffiti
Edsel-Dan replied to MGL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
OK, Thanks for the info on the EDSEL!! Roof looks close enough to a 59 Edsel or Fairlane thatif you had one you could get away with it Though it might have to be lengthened But, I would not know where to lengthen the body itself! I have the 3 Rev Diecast kits, and the AMT 656 T'Bird -
Cars of American Graffiti
Edsel-Dan replied to MGL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not sure But their 58 Pacer was out Years before the Hollywood series came out!! I have a few including the Fake Graffiti one!!! Still looking for others though!!! Also think her Corsair was 2 Tone Blue Wasnt the roof darker than the body?? Not sure if the Scallop was also darker though Only watched that movie Once, and that was some time ago Don't have a VHS or DVD copy!!!!! -
Cars of American Graffiti
Edsel-Dan replied to MGL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Cindy William's 58 EDSEL was a CORSAIR 4dr. Not sure if Hardtop or Sedan. The kit is a PACER 2dr Hardtop!!! It will take a LOT of work to convert-- Stretch the Body AND Wheelbase and a Different Roof!! Pacer & Ranger aka Junior Series were built on Ford platform and sheetmetal was also Corsair & Citation, aka Senior Series were Mercury based. Best bet would be to start with a Franklin Mint Citation Convertible But filling in the scallop where you take the Citation medallion out........ Also, Where to get the roof?? -
it SHOULD be Similar to the Nomad, as it was Based of of that!! Also, Front Brake backing plates were deleted in the Sedan, and Never returned the the Nomad Also Lost in the Nomad was the Rear seat back rear faceCargo Floor extention!! I have the Stock Sedan, and a few Nomad from After that tool modification Here is hoping they realize the mistake the made and return/retool those parts!!!

Next up from Moebius ?
Edsel-Dan replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Polar Lights would more likely do the Impala as AMT did the Modern Tool coupe kit. and they are technically one company now. But, I don't think it will be anytime soon. The last New tooling Automotive kit they did was the TV Batmobile 3 versions all based on the same parts!!! I would TRY to buy one if they did it, But would PRAY for a Fill Stock build as I never watched stupidnational!! CHARMED yes, that NO!!!
