67-72 chevy pickup differences question
Edsel-Dan replied to 01blueedge's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Try mounting the 67 Grill in the Custom grill. Does not matter if it is the older version with No lights, or later one with 2 center mounted lights It closely resembles the body work of the smaller opening, and should fill in the area to fit the smaller 67/68 grill into the 69-72 grill opening. I had thought of trying that too untill I got the resin conversion. here are my 2. Original; and resin conversion; Fit is not 100%, but will do the job quickly. and is easier than trying to scratch-fill that area!! Strip the chrome If you want before cutting; Cut out the center of the custom grill, then Carefully file/sand/shape to fit the 67/68 grill. You will paint this piece anyway!!, it is sheet metal not chrome!! Weather depending, I can take a pic or 2 tomorrow showing what part I am talking about using -
Didn't Revell offer a 67 Coronet kit??
-
Testor's offered the Classic Metal Works Diecast 98+ C-V in Kit form. I have 2 I am working on. A CHP specific kit, and a Denver/Chicago/NYPD Generic. Got 3 of those D/C/NY generic's Cheap at Toys R Us back when!! All 3 boxes ware torn/crushed on the shelf. They were even plain White!! Decals took care of all markings., and 3 different lightbars were included. Sorry, Sold/traded the 2 extra's I had LONG time ago!! We were lucky in that 3 different Diecast companys offered this body style! Welly, CMW, and Whoever did the W-M Motorworks pieces.

AMT '66-'69 Riviera decals?
Edsel-Dan replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The recent AMT 66 Riv is a NEW Tool from 99 or so, and NOT connected in any way but name to the OLD 69. I think my issue (Countdown Series) of the 69 had stripes & license plates. My Modern Tool 66 Also Only had License plates. Ertl was doing that then!!! -
Cool New Stuff from Aoshima - Tamiya Reissue...
Edsel-Dan replied to Erik Smith's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Dragon USA has the "GameBox" truck listed for Under $25.oo!!!! That surprised me as it is also listed as 1/24!!!! They also showed a Food vendor version! -
I don't remember AMT doing the 4dr T-Bird. Just the 2dr. And AMT NEVER Did ANT 'Squire!! Only one EVER done in kit form was Revell's 57!! Hubley Did offer60-62 Ford Country Sedan Wagons, and Decals were included in at least the 60 to Replicate the Squire. PMC offered the 59 Country Sedan. Some one did offer a 58 as a promo, Not sure if AMT or PMC, but you will Not find a very straight one. I think Ford wagon Promo's were also offered from about 55 to 57, but again, Warped only will be found now outside of resin copies.

converting plans to a specific scale
Edsel-Dan replied to kennb's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
1/12 is EASY. 1 Inch = 1 Foot!!! Look for a Drafting triangle ruler. A Ruler that has THREE measuring sides, and 2 Different Scales on each side.. I have one myself. Left me find it and I can Try to take a Pic. But we got Rain again, and not suppose to clear before Mon!!!! (Think about the Drafting type drawing you may have done in High school Shop class!!) -

How well will a LIGHT Dye work on that BLACK rubber/Vinyl though???
-
Actually, There IS a Difference between the 900 & 1000 cabs! Look under the Windshield! 900's have LITTLE ledge there, and the Front is Just as round as the windshield area. On 1000's, there Is a bit of a ledge, and a Sharper Corner to the 'Grill area body work at the "A" pillars I have enough Aurora 900 kits and AMT 1000 kits to See that difference. Here is a 900; And here is a 1000; It is Not as easy to see, but look at the pic's of 1000's above, and Note the Lack od Ledge on my Glod 900. The 900 Is wider that the 700/800 cab, the 1000 added a little to the Nose area and More trim

AMT's "Showroom Replica's" are Unassembled Promos, and therefore, No engine. ie, Curbside. and have an old-School 'everything molded in' on the chassis Not bad, But if they are like the 2009+ Dodge Challengers have Vinyl/Rubber seats, so you are stuck with a Black interior!! If they Had to make them in Vinyl/Rubber, why not do the White, so we could At Least try Acrylic paints to alter the color??

Need info for scratch build
Edsel-Dan replied to Blackwolf's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Hobby Shops can usually get you K&S rod if they don't carry it regularly. Just Watch watch you pick. I bought a 3 pack of 1/16 Rod, but got "Music Wire" It is almost Impossible to Cut!! I have to use Vise-Grips and adjust Down to Final cut. Then File the cut smooth. If I had my rotary tool tool available, I could likely cut it faster, easier, and Smoother!! -
Welcome to the show. I have Family up that way. Robinson/Moon/Coraopolis/Kennedy for one, and Mercer the other. Use to have family on The Island in th Ohio. Right Under the I-79 Bridge!! I would love to get back up that way some day!!

1/25 Lawn & Garden tractor
Edsel-Dan replied to mjsjr's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think it was Loomis, But I lost all contact with him. -
Yea. I have the kit, and it is molded in that Pearl Yellow. Also, the pic's on the linked page That are shown here. I have seen errors saying the 83 Riviera Pace Car was also in multiple colors. I had painted the interior on my 60 Olds Gray, but then read that it was Blue, so repainted it. I mixed various shades. Question here, Which is correct?? I also see the 62 Studebaker built with both Red, & Blue interiors, but read that the Pace Car had Blue As for Shades of Color, that is Subjective to each persons' eyes!!! I have read thet the 50 Mercury was Cream, but the Pic above shows it yellow.

Here are some others I have "in-Progress" 62 Studebaker; I am trying to simulate the Daytona trim on this one. I just added a strip of Evergreen across the Dip running 'Straight' across the side. I am not sure how accurate it is as I only did it based on OLD pictures. Tires are "Firestone Wide-Whiyes" from Lindberg's 53 Ford kit. 67 Camaro, converted from AMT (Matchbox era tooling) hardtop; Windshield frame is from an MPC 69 Camaro Pace car kit body!! And my MPC 86 Vette. Stuck with the Yellow body color!!!! I have already posted a pic of my 59 Buick, but can add one here. and the 4 Built are in the Indy Pace car folder in my photobucket "Models" albums Here; http://s145.photobucket.com/user/EdselDan/library/Models/Indy%20500%20Pace%20cars?sort=3&page=1
