Done some more work on 64 Have chassis ready save for suspension You can ALMOST see the spare tire well added from the AMT 65 Chevelle wagon kit under the Right Exhaust tips I did cut those off and reposition them slightly I am now wondering if I should try this chassis under the 65 GTO/Tempest wagon project Where might I find a CHEAP set of AMT Annual 64 Tempest/GTO rims????? Promo pieces can be cut down to outer rims fairly easy, so....... the Polar-Lights rims are to large in diameter, almost matching the Monogram 1/24 kit rims Plus, The Hardtop has Wire basket hubcaps instead of the GTO rims like the Convertible kit did!! Why has Round2 not re-issued the convertible kit yet with already giving us a Second of the Hardtop
-
Actually that Mini-Lindy is more likely 1/64 ish scale Remember those were designed to Matchbox size back then For those who wanted a Matchbox Kit And YES, I have a few of that Mini-Lindy Van!! I also have this one A one piece "Blow-Molded" Bank Promo It looks a little smaller than 1/25, but I am glad to have found it!!!! more pics here: http://s145.photobucket.com/user/EdselDan/library/Models/Projects/67 Chevy Van Bank Promo?sort=3&page=1 I do not know if it would be good enough to use for resin casting due to the make up of the piece Also the rear doors were cut open at some point Likely to remove any $$$ put in it back when

The "Wall Mounts" were in 1961 era STYLINE kits the ONLY 2 kits from that series re-issued since then are the Ranchero with Newly tooled 60 grill and the 61 Town-Victoria Galaxie First in RC2's Buyer's Choice, then Round2's Retro-Deluxe The Modern Tool 60 Starliner NEVER had that Wall-Mount!! I do not believe the Original Annual did either Nor the Craftsman re-issue
-
Since Round2 has re-issed the 64 GTO Twice, both Hardtop, I wonder why this one has not been re-issed or announced for re-issue

Anyone remember the P M C company
Edsel-Dan replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Not sure on the "California Models" But around that time Bob Swartz from Savannah, Mo did offer the 59 Country Sedan & Ranchero in Resin Tan Brown in color I still have 1 or 2 left of those he sent me for the use of my bodies You can tell they are mine by the drilled out tail-light locations to ude the Revell parts And the extended lower rear body to sit on the Rev Chassis Also the Ranchero had the slots opened for the Fender Ornaments Bob Called his Company "Model Cars & Parts" This 59 EDSEL Villager Body is from one of Bob's Wagon castings. The EDSEL front clip was also one of his I wish I knew what happened to him It would be nice to get those PMC bodies of mine back out there in Resin This Villager was to go to him for casting too!!!! -
I love that trailer Have 1 to finish Wish they would hurry up and re-issue it!!! Wish the turbine was in 1/25 instead of 1/20!!
-
Had 1 each hardtop & Convert Wish I still did Convert was Nice Turq. Metallic Tires look too wide for my taste, and maybe too tall of a rim/hubcap, but.... Only 65 Coronet available so....

Actually, Shell MIGHT be Steel, Aluminum, or Fiberglass But 2x4 Framework in there!!!!! Watch "How It's Made" and see Travel/Camping trailers being produced They Still use 2x2 & 2x4 framing!! And even Plywood panels!!! That AMT El Camino Camper would be a Mid even Early 60's piece, so NO Space Tech material in that one ALL OLD-School Framing, etc Steel likely Steel, But MIGHT be Aircraft grade Aluminum too as Jets were out from Boeing & McDonald-Douglas/DC But would cost been prohibitive??? Cap shells had 2x4 Frame work in the Mid-late 80's as I measured one back the to create a model of for some of my pickup kits Have the Drawings ready to go!!!

OK got the body started on the 64 & 67 Making better progress on the 67, but SHOULD have done it the same as the 65 & 64, by using only the Pillars and Not upper quarters under the windows Here is the 64 body; The lump in the left rear Quarter is fixed I had to disassemble this area, then re-assemble it at the window line first After that set, I added the Wedge in the mid Quarter to Lift the rear corner I did have to cut the wedge down I would LOVE a set of the Photo-Etch details, but.......... Maybe if some one used my builds as Resin masters I could get some For now the plan is that all of mine will wear GTO trim, Badges, & Script I can Easily (and FREELY) Foil Cast all those from Twins in the collection!! I have the Last Non-Butchered 65 GTO kit in the Collection the Elegance Series "Street Sleeper" And I have an Original Interior tub to modify Though I actually need a second due to the 4dr body!!! I can also use a second pair of Polar-Lights interior panels for the same reason Modify the interior to 4dr spec Lastly, I need at least 1 Revell/Monogram 59 Impala kit Tail-light as I only have one left and I carved the 65 Wagon tail lights out of a set 64's look Identical, so....... Sadly I will be better of with one of the After-market members here Casting resin copies of my work!! Money is Below Minimal right now!!!!!!

Anyone remember the P M C company
Edsel-Dan replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
OK I can add a little The 59 Ford Wagon was the mid-level 4dr Country Sedan I have Both Styrene Toy, and Deluxe Dealer Acetate Promo!! Both have the same flat tin plate chassis with flywheel/friction motor!! The toy is Body only with silver/gray bumpers The Promo has interior, Windows and Hubcaps in the tires Deluxe Promo: Toy being Rebuilt with Revel Skyliner parts Note the Minor Twist to the interior, and overall Shrinking oif the 2-tone Promo vs the Turq Styrene Toy body The Revell Grill fits almost perfectly And Yes do remove the front bumper extensions, Strip the chrome and glue to the front fender Surprisingly, The mold parting line Should be LEFT there as those were still Separate parts even when chromed!!!!!!! BUT, Revell NEVER had clear red lenses for their Fairlane 500 Skyliner I have TWO built Originals, and the lens is cast with the Bezel and Chrome I did Drill/inset the tail light area to accept the Rev piece See here the work done to adapt the PMC body to accept the Rev chassis And the tail lights; AMT DID have the clear-red lenses in their Galaxie kits I also have the Ranchero Toy issue Bob Swartz in Savannah, Mo did offer resin copies of both of MY PMC 59 Fords at one time But I have not heard of him in many years Were Bagged kits done only in Acetate? or also styrene?? I now wonder if the 'Admiral Blue' Chevy promo I have is PMC one of those above has the paint name on the roof like mine I have A Fleetline fastback And folder with more pictures; http://s145.photobucket.com/user/EdselDan/library/Models/Chevy Fleetline bank?sort=3&page=1 -
OK 64 & 67 are started, but fitting Rev 66 Malibu wagon roof to MPC 67 GTO is NOT going as easily as 65 bash went nor the Polar-Lights 64/AMT 65 wagon roof bash Revell Wagon body is wider than MPC 67 GTO!! Now I need a Rev/Mono 66 for the fourth of this group I SHOULD also get to finishing the 65!!!! If I can take some pics later today, Sat, or Sun I will start an 'In-Progress' thread Also, If anyone has Different pics send them to me!!!!!

AMT American La France Pumper Re-issue?
Edsel-Dan replied to hooknladderno1's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Yes, I would say that Round2 WILL re-issue the other 2 ALF kits soon Both will likely be Retro-Deluxe with Original Box Art like the Aero- Chief we got last Feb (1 year ago) I wonder how long before we get a Deluxe Combined Aerial kit that can be built as Either Ladder Chief or Aero Chief!!! -
Actually, I believe that Camper came in the 64 Annual than the 65 Annual El Camino kits And I believe it fits the n64/65 better as it would have been tooled for it I too thought it had originally been in the 59, but was wrong Also testing one in a 59 showed a poor fit The Bunk Underside sits directly on the ElCo's Cab Roof NOT good in real life! You would create a Dent in the Steel roof or Crack the FiberGlass of the Camper Unless the Skin of that camper is Aluminum. That would still Dent And with all the Scraping, Think of how much paint would be rubbed off Both!!! I need to try the fit again. I am trying to remember if the Camper sat fully in the 59's Bed or was held Up off near the front due to the Resting on the roof THAT would cause the camper to completely fail -- Break apart while riding down the road Definitely NOT something you want!!! I* know that only the Small bed cap was in the Construction issue 65 ElCo Twin to the Crew Chief Blazer That one stayed in the kit til the Buyer's Choice I THINKI Or was it the Nostalgia issue that finally gave us back the full Camper??? Which one is included now?? Why not both??
-
Dragon USA should have them too. But closer to $10.oo SALE price each There is also at least one more set, 4 "Cowboy/Indian" Girls (Women) And YES I would like to get both sets Though I am LOUSY at figures!!!!
-
A side note here Most likely ONLY 1 version of these True 1/32 kits can return The Charger & Cordoba are the Same kit with alterations to replicate the Chrysler Grill, etc The Charger tail light section over the corner of the rear quarter was left in place The Granada/Monarch and Omega/etc, As well as Monte Carlo/Buick Century will likely be the same UNLESS tooling for the different Grills, etc was separate and not altered!! I would LOVE to see these back and with Round2 running the All Stars 1/32 kits not We just MIGHT get lucky here

When did American Satco close?? I wanted their red-line, Blue Streak, Gold Line & White Stripe/Sidewall tires I wanted the 66 Chevy Pick up Too!!! And is the Monogram/Revell 65 what became of their announced kit?? Also Yes, The AMT 71 Petty Road Runner WAS the MPC kit! Don't Forget at the same time they announced the Petty kit return., they announced the Original Annual 60 Ford Sunliner was to be re-issued I know the tooling needed a Lot of work then, but do they still have it now???

Revell model history
Edsel-Dan replied to Vietnam Vet67's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I looked at a March issue of M Hemmings Motor News a few days ago But All I saw on Collectibles was a Marx 'Electric' Slot car set Not a Revell history So was it in the March issue, Or Feb, or even Jan?? Or was it a DIFFERENT Hemmings Magazine?? -

Unique TV/Movie vehicle
Edsel-Dan replied to BobbyHill16's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, Revell needs to re-issue that J10 Honcho kit!! I can tell you some of the cars shown ARE out there as Kits The Star Car & the Truckster are available as FREE Paper kits The Landram was being developed, but stalled a few years ago due to difficulties at the articulation point Also AMT had PLANNED the Defender Coupe from VIPER, but dropped it when NBC cancelled the show They Could had done it though as VIPER did continue to run in First-run Sindication Did they ever offer it on DVD??? Another I would Love to see in kit form, The Dodge D300 Utility from EMERGENCY And YES a paper model IS out there The Crown And Ward LaFrance would also be nice to see a paper Model of the Crown was also started, but stalled -
SnapTite kits for a 7 year old
Edsel-Dan replied to smhardesty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have seen but never gotten the Grave Digger, but have built MANY of the other Snap kits out there The 1/32 kits from Monogram are very nice though ONLY the 70 Mach-1 & Cobra roadster are completely Stock!! The Cobra Did come standard with Sidepipe mufflers!! The 69 Camaro, 78 Vette, & 68 GTO are stock but with sidepipes This is the method of hiding the body/chassis mounting lugs The 55 Chevy is part street machine, part Pro Street drag Roll bar and 2 Bucket seats are the only option for the interior The 34 Coupe is the "ZZTop Eliminator" I have SEVERAL sets of the 6 kits from the Halloween, Winter Ice & Spy/Tech issues I was emptying Wal-Marts of them at $1.oo each to as little as 50 CENTS each I have more of the Halloween series than any others Here are the 6 Halloween kits The other series included the same cars The Cobra, a 79 Camaro, and Mustang were not included I do not think they have been re-issued at all The Semi trucks are all decent kits too I have had many of them, and hope more get re-issued. I have the Mack R with Tank trailer, and am looking for the Freightliner Conventional with box van/refer trailer The MACK CF Pumper was first offered in the early-mid 80's The original 2 kits were molded in red & Yellow This is the ONLY Yellow offering They showed the Deluge gun on the Red kit, the 3 beam Flood light on the yellow Both kits were Identical except plastic & box art The Second issue was a Tie in to the Movie Backdraft Decals/stickers were for Chicago engine 17 though in the movie the Ladder was the MACK! The kit stayed Chicago 17 and box art was kept the same though with out BACKDRAFT labeling I believe the HERO's 2 kit was next with the Mack pumper and the Malibu police sedan That Malibu was also offered in BACKDRAFT box art The current run of the kit Copy-write dated 2012 and later, has the base for the Deluge molded to the roof and the headlight lenses now molded in-place on the chrome front grill/bumper piece So if you want the Clear headlights and/or the Search/flood light option you need an Older issue of the kit Again, I have SEVERAL of this kit, and do look for deals on it all the time I have 3 or 4 box lots of parts for them too I have MANY plan ideas for them too!! I need to get back to the 3 In-Progress pro!!jects -
