Jesse I think I just relived that moment of your childhood but with the George Follmer Trans am Javelin. This puppy was sealed until this morning when I finally opened him after arguing with myself about breaking the seal. The decals are like new, the tires are almost fresh, the chrome didn't wear through any wheres, and the body is fresh from the molds. You couldn't ask for a cleaner vintage kit, much less a johan And here it is with it's brother .

So have you single handedly paid off the tooling costs for the Hornets yet? Nice builds Chuck.

Jeeze man, so do you have to go through state roadway registration and FFA registration if you buy a real one?

Hey guys, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I'm almost done with a gasser build and I need to tint all the glass orange. I've tried future and food coloring along with airbrushing tamiya clear orange. I looked for a can of testors translucent orange but didn't find one at my LHS. What do you guys suggest.

You gotta do an ad for muffler bearings. Something like "Mr. Muffler premium Muffler bearings" or you could do "Kool Kat catalytic converters"

Hello this is Mors Mutual insurance, how may we help you?

Looks nice so far. At least the censorship isn't as bad as MPC airbrushing out the confederate flag on the Dukes kit.

Chattanooga ModelCon 2014 ( Jan. 10 & 11 )
Austin T replied to Sixgunner68's topic in Contests and Shows
I think I'll go again this year, been the last two years. I love the new venue but I don't care to much for the awards either, they look like coasters. I hope Mike and the boys come up with something a little better this year. -

bicentennial special editions
Austin T replied to Austin T's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank you very much for the pictures. I think I know what I'm going to do with my Mack now. Is there a place with more pictures of the truck, I can't seem to find any. -
I know that during the Bicentennial there were a few trucks with some very patriotic paint jobs. Did Mack ever offer one for the R model?Or did anyone ever custom paint one? Thinking about building my R model and want to do something a little unusual and patriotic.

Hobby Shops... Are They Viable Today?
Austin T replied to Tom Geiger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I hate to say so,but that is far from the truth. It will cost the owner 800 for a car that MSRPs at 1000 and sets for eight months. Not to mention Amazon sells the same car for 750.99. The myth that RC holds up hobby shops is one that I believed in as well, then I worked at one. I might even go as far to say RC is a contributing factor to the closure of LHS's, but not drastically. -
Hobby Shops... Are They Viable Today?
Austin T replied to Tom Geiger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well the HobbyTown I work at now is almost done with it's store closing sale. A few of the things that hurt us enough to shut us down are places like amazon and other places were you can buy things cheaper, yes I know with shipping that it almost is even but sadly people don't understand that. Another big part is that a good part of the hobby industry is going down the hole, this means with quality and treatment of the hobby shops by the company. All of those big RC cars that everyone things make a killing for a hobby shop never really make more than 100 profit for the store, and that's for a decent Nitro that's 700 or 800 Dollars. Without toys or something to draw in non hobby enthusiasts a hobby shop will die fast. Going back to what I said about quality if you go to a hobby shop that does RC and look you will see more than half the selection of products are replacement parts, not upgrade parts. The company makes some of their money selling expensive cars and trucks but makes a killing selling replacement parts, after all why would you want something build with quality nowadays? One that I've seen recently is the smart phone shoppers, they can scan the bar code with their hone and have an app that tells them the place with the cheapest price. One customer was bragging about it to me the other day, it's just insulting. -
