Selling your builds?
freakshow12 replied to Dragfreak's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have sold several for 1k. Many for 500+. Did a lot of commissioned builds for 900-1k. Burned out. Gave it up. Don't get rid of your builds. I have many I wish i had hung on to. I store mine in plastic tool boxes. Make a tray to replace the lift out tray and boom. Ten models fit. I keep them all now. But I only build a few a year now -
Monaro pro street...Its Finished

That will do just fine! As I said, I'm in no way a burgandy guy but I think it would have fit too. I'm going to have to get some of the blue you used. It's brilliant! Love it -

Finally some progress in the right direction! Cot some paint and detailing done on the rear end! I got a fuel tank in that I like and made a sump for it. Getting closer to some real results on this one. Thanks for looking -
Glad to hear things are coming along. Best wishes to you and a big thanks to the friends you have helping out.

Sweet. Why do I see a nice burgandy/ maroon on this with some nice Chrome work. And I'm not even a maroon guy! -

That's great you will make the deadline. I usually decal very last. I don't like clearing over them since that's not how 1:1 cars are -

I use styrene pins and ca glue to hold it together. X pipes are super easy to make that way too -
Something to Ponder
freakshow12 replied to jwrass's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Agreed. I'm on a few different boards and some sections are absolutely dead. Why waste the bandwidth? Change the nascar section name to general racing, leave the drag racing section alone and call it a day. Me personally, I have no desire to look at an open wheel race car just as the op has no desire to see trucks! -
Looks good. It's a 55 though

I always do the over axle bend first, then I just work my way out until I clear everything that needs room to work. Here are a couple others. On the mustang I made the tailpipes. The kit ones are brutal! Even for a stock 5.0 they are wrong -

Thanks. I use some shiny 2.95 mm solder for pipes. Bends and drills nicely. This system I think is going to be flat black. Mufflers are aluminum tubing -

Had a good day today. Rear suspension is ready to be broken down for paint. Cal tracs turned out ok. Exhaust is figured out. 3" pipe to modified stock tips. Next up is a fuel cell. Got some black on the rims too -
The stripe is a little more purple than the 1:1 but there is no other source. I'm sure it will look ok. I was wanting the yellow to red stripe on the blue. There is a pic of that combo I posted in here somewhere. But that won't work now with my engine either unless I change the valve covers which I can do as I have several sets here. Let me know which way you want to go
-
Those stripes are from the first issue as this was built when it was brand new. I've included a couple engine shots to show that you really can't see the headers/ manifolds so whichever way you choose to go shouldn't be a big deal
-
If I could add my 2 cents to the dilemma. Lol 1. No traction bars. Think that was decided earlier. With the wheel and tire choice it will look silly 2 the stripes look better off the paper. The engine will look stupid if the stripes are not on the car imho. 3. I agree headers are the way to go. They will clear everything barely. The cut is not too bad to do. I can put up a couple pics of that and stripes on one of my gt's 4. The headers will need plug boot clearance, did I do them both? I did one side for sure. Manifolds will keep the underside clean and front clearance at a premium. I look forward to seeing this come together

Mustang Cobra II decals?
freakshow12 replied to atomicholiday's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have used his stuff many times. Beautiful! I have 2 sets of his 78 king cobra decals. Now to build one. I would suggest getting 2 sets of whatever you need. Just in case as they are quite delicate, which is good as they go down perfectly but can be tricky at the same time. -
1981 McLaren M81 Mustang? 1:25? 1:24?
freakshow12 replied to JDMallday's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have never built one yet. I have been gathering them up as they are kind of hard to find. They come with a collector card etc. I will build my opened one someday -
A pair of 66 Novas- small update for now on the wagon

Awesome Jim! When I got my material I believe black and white were the options. -
Yup those are mine. The opened up mustang is mine as well.

We may have. I had all the stuff from the twister mach 1 down the front row of that table. Silver truck, camaro, blown super bee, cuda, fox body etc http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=100666&page=1
