  1. Deleting cookies did nothing. I guess the feature doesn't like me.
  2. I just tried something...when I am not logged in, the view new content works, but it says no new content when I am logged in. Hmmmm...
  3. Everything else seems to be working OK. I can see pictures and open up topics in the categories. It is just so much more convent to check out the new items with the function rather than hunting for things.
  4. Clicking on it does nothing.
  5. Yes there is. it looks like a torn sheet of paper. I will go to the home page and click on it, because it did nothing when on this page.
  6. I can't- I have a Microsoft Surface that only accepts IE. I tried logging off and signing in again, and have also played with the options in the left hand column to no avail.
  7. That didn't work. Any other suggestions?
  8. Am I the only one who had this case function? Since Saturday, all I get is a statement that there is no new content. And just when I was getting to rely on it...
  9. It was a fun show as usual. The relaxed atmosphere gives plenty of time to talk. Sorry I managed to miss you, although I did photograph your models. Maybe we'll get to talk in May.
  10. Hello. There is a fairly active group in Northern California, but our biggest event the NNL Western Nationals in Santa Clara was held February 1. There is a car show/swap meet/model show at the Stockton Fairgrounds on Apriln13. I will be there as will a number of guys from Modesto, Sacramento, Stockton, Antioch and the Bay Area. Hope you can attend so we can corrupt-er I mean meet you.
  11. After watching FP1 and FP2, I am wondering about the durability of the cars. Something might happen that hasn't occurred since the sixties- fewer finishers than there are points paying positions.
  12. Casey, as I understand it sink marks are caused by a combination of the part thickness and the mold cooling time.-thicker parts require more cooling time inside the mold machine, which slows down production. If the part is not cool enough when removed from the mold, the plastic will shrink until it cools. I bet that your "shrink lines" have some sort of framework on the opposite side of the parts..
  13. At least three of these combos are do-able with models that were released in the last then years or so. The '53 Ford pickup was released as a private issue with the Service Trailer about 3 Christmases ago. If the 289 Cobra was added, this would be the "Cobra Race Team". The trailer along with the '69 Ford and GT500 would be the kit pictured on page 2 of this thread, and the Model King Falcon with the promo style 64 Galaxie and trailer would make another one. Can anyone think of other possibilities? I seem to remember the 53 Pickup with both the Parnelli Jones Roadster and the Grant King Sprint Car, but the latter two haven't been released in a loooong time.
  14. How do they get to the engine on the RV? The cab won't tilt with the camper over it.
  15. Does any caster do Flintstone figures for the Lindberg kit, or are there toy figures the correct size?
  16. x2 for Modesto Hobby & Crafts. I've been going there since 1972.
  17. Congratulations, Ira! As always it was great to see you and Dolores. Sorry you had to miss hearing the applause that was so well deserved. And it was also great to talk to Steve, John and the rest of the people. I think that the social side of s show is a big part of what makes going to them so much fun. Just about everyone there is willing to talk to you, and there are very few bad attitudes or egos. And when you meet guys like Ira or Tim Boyd or Terry Jessee or anybody else, you find that they are regular guys who are very willing to give you tips or answer questions. They also are nice people and like to joke around. You can make some lifelong friends pretty easily at some of these shows, and that is the value of them, whether it GSL, NNL East or any of the dozens of others that you can attend.
  18. People, this pair is even more stunning in person than in the photos. I hope many of you get the chance that I had yesterday. Great job, John, and thanks for the build thread.
  19. I had a great time also. There are great model, good parts and kits a nice people what's not to like. congrats on the model pic-nice car!
  20. Great idea! Let's also add a category for road racing, drifting, rallying, dirt tracks, rat rods, donks, lowriders, cars with air suspension, airplanes, tanks, real space, Indy cars,sci-fi, mud bogging, formula 1, figures and whatever else more than two members are interested in. Just think how easy it will be to find stuff when there are 500 or 1000 categories! Or we could make the current setup work for us.
  21. I will be there. As usual, I will be escorting vendors to their tables before the doors open. I hope I can meet members there in person.
  22. There was no model in 1965 because Mercury didn't want a promo of one. The annuals back then were modified from promo tools that were requested by and paid for by the auto manufacturers.
  23. I hate you, John! Knowing you, it will be done in about three hours and get People's Choice at NNL West. Hope to see you there on Feb 1.
  24. I just thought of a couple more kit designers, both from AMT: Dave Carlock and John Boettger
  25. Let's see how many other kit designers we can name. I'll start. Jim Keeler (Revell & Aurora) Bob Paeth (Revell) Budd Anderson (Revell, AMT & MPC) Tom West (MPC, Accurate Miniatures & Galaxie) Tom "PhantomPhan" Montgomery (AMT)
