  1. They say sniffing dumb makes you glue, but it don't. I know.
  2. Scott, I think it is for military modelers who want to build dioramas about ISIS controlled areas. I'm sure the military guys wonder why mid-1960s Fords trucks are being released.
  3. Thank you for the great explanation. I wondered where the filled -in fender unit appeared, and I thought there was only one version of the Mod Rod.
  4. I never had the original kit, and I have a question. The original says that you can built the Ala Kart and the decals are even there, but how can that be without the side pipes and other mods to the body?
  5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when looking at the parts trees I noticed ONE drive axle and Twin I-Beams. So unlike the box art, this is a two wheel drive kit. I'll be happy with that, but some people won't.
  6. The road racer also has a shorter nose like the drag car, so it is a pretty major conversion.
  7. Beppe, you probably don't know that Bill Harrison, Randy Vandraiss, and Bruce Treadwell have all passed away.
  8. You probably do. I was on the committee for years, and worked the registration desk or ticket booth. I "retired' from the committee, but I still help the vendors find their tables before the door open, plus I help out in a pinch. I'm one of a handful of people who have been to all of the NNLs. Hope to see you there in February.
  9. Have you attended the NNL Western Nationals at the Convention Center next to Levi's Stadium? Next year's show will be February 4. This is one of the shows featured in the current issue of Scale Auto. We usually have over 1100 modelers, 400-500 people and over 80 swap meet tables. It is the second biggest display in the country. Hope to meet you there.
  10. Tere arebox art pics of a lot of these if you look at the "old unbuilt kits" on spotlight hobbies.
  11. Did you ever notice how much the Super Car resembled GM's Firebird III turbine car?
  12. I rarely buydiecasts, so I have a question. Where would I go to get one of these?
  13. Snake, I doubt they will do the surgery for a few floaters. I had serious bleeding in both eyes - I had over 90% blockage in each eye. The doctor did the surgery on my right eye because it was the worst. The surgery was done in Oct 2008, and my left eye has about 4 "strings" of blood that will apparently never dissolve but they will not replace the fluid in that eye. This does show that there are many reasons to be an organ donor. I have no idea who the person was, but I'm forever grateful to him or her.
  14. All of us are pulling for you. Best of luck.
  15. I hope all turns out well for you. Good luck.
  16. Michael, do you have Diabetes? I do, and my ophthalmologist explained to me that the disease causes abnormal, thin-walled veins to from in the retina, and the extra sugar in my blood causes them to burst and bleed into the eye. I have had numerous laser treatments to cauderize the veins in both eyes, and have even had to have the fluid in one eye removed and replaced. PLEASE have yourself tested for Diabetes and act accordingly. Diabetes is the number one cause of blindness in America and has many other consequences. It would be q good idea to see an ophthalmologist for a thorough exam. Good luck to you.
  17. Actually, in the 70s AMT had a "Dune Buggy" version of the Woody with a flat floor, z couple of seats and a top something like the one in the Meyers Manx kit. Proves that great minds think alike.
  18. Curb, I took the 4 lower photos of the car at the old Harrah Auto Collection in the summer of 1983. It was under one of the outdoor sheds-actually tin roof awnings, and My Mother the Car was about 20 feet away. I think the picture of the car in the sun was by Roy Sorenson.
  19. I decant and airbrush all of my spray can paint into airbrush bottles, and have not had evaporation problems. I have 2 ounce bottles of Tamiya white and gray primer at the ready, plus Testors wet look clear. I put a little additional Tamiya lacquer until it has 2% milk consistency. To decant the paint, I hot glue a drinking straw to a spray can nozzle, then let the paint gas out for a couple of days. Slowly open the lid about every 8 hours to let some propellant out. Be careful- the paint will gush out everywhere unless you just crack it open and then wait a bit to remove it. I clean the straw and nozzle with cheap lacquer thinner and occaisionally have to re-glue it.
  20. Slusher, what kit is that chrome tree from?
  21. Tim always had a smile and warm handshake when he saw me. He was such a fun guy and a great builder. may he be remembered fondly for a long time. Condolences to his family and friends,
  22. Would the strategy been more valid if a Penske, Ganassi or Andretti crew chief had tried it? I think not. Also please remember that the same weekend that Danica used fuel strategy to win the IRL race, Dale Junior used fuel strategy to win his first race for Hendrick. I don't recall anyone bemoaning that victory.
  23. Sorry, I don't have pics of the prototype. Mark did say it was based on the AMT kit. Obviously, I have forgotten who did the conversion, but it was a well known Bay Area builder. Mark only had the unprimed body and said he was waiting for the interior and chassis. That's when he said something about having trouble with the suspension. He didn't elaborate, but I assume it was trouble with casting it. I thought the master looked really good.
