  1. In 1/25 scale, 1 inch is exactly .040 inch ( or approximately 1 millimeter). So 3 scale inches is .120 inch. Years ago, I was told that the difference in a Mustang and Cougar was that the front suspension pieces were swapped side for side. The suspension has a 1-1/2 inch offset from the mounting points. On the Mustang, they angled rearward resulting in a shorter wheelbase, while the Cougar had them angling forward. The guy that told me this was the son of a Ford executive from the 60s (and a well known modeler)the late Randy Vandriass.
  2. David, I think I now understand your screen name. LOL
  3. Hello from Modesto. I'm one of the helpers at the NNL Western Nationals in Santa Clara. I hope you saw the show last month. We had 1100+ models and 400+ builders at the convention center by Levi Stadium. Next year it will be January 26 (or whatever the Saturday is near that date). Hope to meet you.
  4. Don't forget the '66 Hemi Under Glass with the Aurora-style box art. Could this be a diorama series with Aurora-style art?
  5. The M&S crew are great. I've been dealing with them for years. I'm sure Mark will make it right.
  6. The NNL Western Nationals just announced that the 2019 themes are "Wagons and Wings". so this thread is very timely.
  7. Thanks. I'll look at my local store, but I'm not holding my breath-My local HL doesn't carry the treadplate.
  8. Where were they located, by the models? Perhaps by crafting?
  9. John, you are a warped individual! I love it.
  10. I only saw Don at GSL, and he was always nice to me. We shared a lot of laughs and I relly admired his work, A truly nice guy and great modeler. You will be missed my friend!
  11. Here's a tip for you, Nick. I'm pretty sure that the Corvair engine from the AMT show rods (like the Depth Charger) is from the Meyers Tow'd. It already has a VW transaxle, and the fan belt is two piece- that is a pretty distinctive feature.
  12. Thanks, Dave - I never heard that. Heartbreaking.
  13. The Horse Hide Hauler is a derivative of the Surf Woody. As far as I know the XR-6 was never modified into anything else.
  14. I'll be one of the guys escorting you toyour vendor table during set-up.
  15. The black stripes and number 96 decals are for the yellow Allen Grant car. That car had a '56 F100 tow vehicle, so the '53 was the closest that AMT had. Shelby very rarely ran cars that weren't blue, but there were lots of private cars that weren't blue and had who-knows-what for a tow vehicle.
  16. Glad you two got in touch. Steve is a nice guy and so is Curt.
  17. Glad you two got in touch. Steve is a nice guy and so is Curt.
  18. The late Randy Vandraiss was usually the tallest, and Bob Heselton and I were close to you in size. Steve is still in the hobby and is active on the Spotlight Hobbies (formerly Hobby Heaven) board. Saw him and Curt last July.
  19. If I remember from 2009, someone showed THREE different '67-'68 Cougar bodies from MPC. They differ in the hood area. Note that the Dyno Don car has no scoop and the air intake is only in the windshield. I think the Model King kit had a scoop and a notch in the cowl. Hopefully Round 2 will have the correct body in the kit.
  20. I have known Steve and Curt for years. I was on the NNL West committee since 1990 and still help vendors find their tables during set up. We probably know each other.
  21. Was the "New Content" button removed, or did I just miss it?
  22. Just what was thinking of! Looks great.
  23. Hmmm... Dave Van said that he would be happy if another kit that he advised on would come out. Do I smell a Javelin? I would LOVE to see a '68 or '69.
  24. I totally agree with supporting your hobby shop. I buy models at the craft stores if I want a second kit, or if my shop can't get it. I always pay cash at my LHS. The reason is important: there is a 3% to 6% fee charged to the vendor when you use a credit card, and that comes directly from the shop's profit. By paying cash, you are helping to ensure the shop's existence.
