  1. Timothy, Ralph And I have known each other for over 20 years. And Tom, thanks for the karma, but I have been on the board for a long time- I don't post a whole lot.
  2. Greetings. I'm in Modesto, and my wife's sister and her husband live in Elk Grove. I also volunteer at the NNL Western Nationals in Santa Clara. I'm one of the very few who have attended every one of them.
  3. Snake, i suspect that you are comparing Revell,or Monogram kits that were tooled in the '50s with kits of the same vehicles that were retooled much later. I bet Atlantis got the molds for the '60s era '55 Chevy with all the fiddly stuff and the '90s tools for that car went to the German group- why keep two molds when one is far superior?
  4. I bet the Twister Vega and the upcoming Jenkins and Larson Pro Stocks will share a lot of parts, like chassis, engine and interior.
  5. Around California, Courier models are scarce. I heard that the frame fits perfectly under the AMT'49 Mercury to provide a more modern front suspension and it lowers the model automatically. I never did it, but I sure wish I could find a set of uncut bed sides left over from somebody's conversion...
  6. How about RE-customizing a custom model? Bob Paeth redid an Orange Hauler back in the 60s, and a few people have built modified Monkee mobiles. Get a Tom Daniel or Barris kit and have at it!
  7. Very nice!
  8. Great reference! Thanks for all the effort!
  9. He eventually cut the roof off because the tiny interior was too hot. One year at a vintage race at Sears Point I helped him push it up a small incline to get to his paddock spot. He was really nice, and we talked for about a half hour.
  10. Espo, each of his posts is for one specific year. The one you quoted is all of the 1958 AMT and SMP annual kits. His next post was all of the 1959 annuals, and the third post was all of the 1960 annuals. A great resource and a lot of work.
  11. Don Shoemacher had the nickname "supershoe". His early cars were called "Stardust" and he also drove the Wonder Wagon cars, to name a few. Currently a team owner.
  12. Thanks for this. I have a built one and the plans will help me disassemble it. Your reviews are also fun to go through.
  13. Nice job! A question about the front suspension. Did you just butt glue the trailing arms together, or sis you pin them or elsewise reinforce them? zi never had any luck gluing parts with such small contact area. Any tricks would be appreciated.
  14. I use pieces of flash to fill sink holes. I put liquid glue in the hole put a small piece of flash in, use an old x-acto blade to push it down in the hole. I sometimes brush a light coat of liquid glue on top of the flash, and occasionally need to apply a second layer of flash to fill deep sink marks. Of course, once dry you need to sand or file the repair to shape. I have also used flash to fill ejection pin marks. This is particularly handy on the bodies of old-tool Round 2 reissues
  15. The family of John Prine posted that he is in critical condition with the virus and was put on a ventilator yesterday.

  17. I have gotten 91% alcohol at Target in the pharmacy. Also, home improvement stores have it in the paint dept.
  18. Yeah, Dolores and I are keeping the dog happy- going to the park and then staying home. Are Steve and Andy, et al doing alright?
  19. Did I ever tell you that I hate you? Great job old buddy!
  20. there should be armed guards in the passenger seats, LOL.
  21. I have four Martins and two Guilds. I play Folk Rock. Got my first guitar in 1965.
  22. How about the seat from the AMT '53 or Revell '56 pickup? Maybe for a starting point?
  23. I see so many people make a comment like "All they need to do is tool up a new (insert some major body or interior part here)". Tim clearly stated that it can take months or years to do this type of thing. But I have a question for someone in the know: what is a ballpark figure for the cost for Round 2 to tool up the new parts for the "64 Cutlass? $25.000? $50,000? More (or less)? Perhaps there would be fewer such "tool up" comments if modelers were aware of the costs involved.
  24. Are there any Isuzu engines Modelled? After all, the "Chevy LUV" was just a badge-engineered Isuzu P'UP.
  25. Ed Sexton said a few things to me and other people when I was at the booth yesterday. First, the '29 coupe will have the Buick engine when issued. Secondly, the Rubicon has parts that were tooled at the same time as the Tomb Raider kit but were never used. So the "new parts" must be an insert. He told the man asking about the Jeep that it was meant to be a more "normal Rubicon, and that it is curbside. Lastly, he said that the Firebomb is all ready to go and they are just waiting for Tom Daniel to sign the contract. Whether that means that all is agreed upon and it is a matter of Daniel mailing it back or that they are miles apart on the money, Sexton didn't say.
