  1. I should read the link before I post stuff. the link clearly states that it is curbside and that it is for 1976. I vaguely remember Mark mentioning something about trouble with the suspension, so I guess that's why it is curbside. I does have the interior and roll cage. Perhaps they will offer the winged car later.
  2. I saw the prototype at NNL West and talked to Mark about it. The kit will be full detail and come with either Keyser or Holbert decals. The body is highly modified from the old AMT "IMSA" kit, with the flares corrected and a choice of a spoiler fro 1976 or a wing from 1977. I think Kurt Raitz did the mastering.
  3. It is a historical reference. The 365 GTB/4 and 365 GTS/4 cars were introduced in 1967, and were almost immediately -and unofficially- dubbed the "Daytona" in honor of the 1-2-3 victory of the Ferrari 330 P4 cars at the 1967 Daytona 24 hours. In first place was a P4 spyder, so it was appropriate that the 365 GTS/4 spyder had a 330 P4 spyder in the background.
  4. I LOVED my American Plastic Bricks so much that I kept them. In my High School Years, I used to build garages and commercial workshops as Christmas decorations and put them with some of my models under the tree.
  5. OK Old Nasty- based on the eyes, Elizabeth Montgomery.
  6. And THAT Testa Rossa body worked for about three hundredths of a second longer...
  7. The 240Z was a national championship winning car in SCCA C Production, not the Trans Am. The Porsche 911 was (dubiously) classified as a "sedan" due to its having 4 seats - the car was disallowed in 1970. If you want to convert stock kits to racers, '66 sand '67 Novas were raced, as were a '64 GTO and a few VW bugs and '64-'65 Falcons and Comets. Then there was the Group 44 '66 Dart...
  8. Nice work, Joe! This shows that even simple models can look great when built right.
  9. I just got back with a new toy: a 2016 Martin D28 John Lennon guitar. This is not the 75th anniversary edition but the follow up series. It has the Vintage Tone System which makes a new guitar sounds like a vintage one. This one is aged to sound like one from 1965, the year that Martin gave guitars to Lennon, McCartney and Harrison. It just booms right out of the box (it just arrived this morning and I watched the guy take the guitar and case out of the shipping carton). I was the first person not at the factory who touched it. What a thrill!
  10. Hello Rick! I helped out at the Barris auction, along with Don Graham, Doane Yawger and the late BruceTreadwell. That was a cray weekend! Good to hear from you, and looking forward to the exchange f thoughts.
  11. You guys are killing me! Those 1/20 dune buggies never showed up around here. I would get at least two at those prices....
  12. I just got one of those Monogram Vette Vans at a swap meet last week. It is based on the Tom Daniel Corvette.
  13. I just looked at two original issue Surf Woody kits that I got at the Barris auction in 1986. One has textured wheels and the other has smooth wheels. Go figure....
  14. The "model" thread has a banner in front; the "non model" thread has a banner after the "What did you get today" title. The "non model" thread was started quite a while ago, but evidently the definition was not modified. I'm not trying to be nasty- the similar titles fooled me for a long time until I noticed the banner location. I think all of the non model entries from this thread were moved to the other thread when it was created.
  15. Uhh,,,,guys, there is another "what did you get today" for NON model stuff,
  16. I think this is a revised TD drawing In Rod & Custom I recall it having a scoop atop the blower and wire front wheels.
  17. Chris, see my response on the other thread.
  18. Chris, there are two tie rods in the kit. the chrome one is if you want a detailed tie rod and there is an unplated one if you want poseable wheels. The extra wheel backs and wheel rings are not on the instructions. These parts are for the roadster version that had single rear slicks. They are shown on an original instruction sheet. Also, the top was not covered in vinyl. It was solid walnut, inside and out. If you google "Barris Surf Woody" you will find pics I took in 1983 when the car was at the Harrah Museum about to be auctioned. Unfortunately my old free Fotki site is no more. It had lots of reference stuff on the car and the kit.
  19. Dennis Doty combined a 1/8 scale E type and '65 Corvette in Model Car Science magazine. It was a multi part project that included a soldered brass chassis. I can't get to my copies right now, so I can't tell you what issues had the installments. I do remember that it was on the cover when finished.
  20. These bikes were in several MPC kits in the 1970s. I got mine in a Dodge pickup from about '75. If memory serves, I think one was a Husqvarna and the other was a Yamaha.
  21. Ed Sexton told me that he only brought the parts unique to the '48 coupe I guess the rest of the parts are shared with the convertible. Also note that the hood was glued on for display purposes (I .asked). I also want to thank Mr. Sexton for coming to the show.
  22. The earlier Chaparral 2s had fiberglass composite chassis, and the 2C was Hall's first aluminum monocoque. The 2C also had a shorter wheelbase and was the first car with the flipper tail. I believe one of the fiberglass cars later got the flipper tail. This is info I remember from reading a book on the Chaparrals.
  23. The '49 Mercury can be turned into a convertible by using some parts from he soon to be reissued 50 Ford Convertible. The Ford windshield frame is a separate piece as the kit has an optional chopped windshield for the custom version. You would also need he window ,glass and convertible boot. I find convertible conversions are easier if you cut the windshield header first and them work toward the rear, as this lessens the chance of breaking off the A pillars. For most convertible conversions you will need fabricate sun visors and the top boot, and for some you must change the shape of the windshield header (the Merc would be one of these if you couldn't use the Ford part). Hope this helps.
  24. As usual, I will be escorting vendors to their tables during set-up,
