  1. The paint color and finish look great. Like how you did the side chrome trim. Great looking details on the dash and interior.
  2. The unit mentioned on the roof of the '59 Ford reminds me of units that used to be seen on some larger trucks and campers that were for an air conditioning system that could also be run while the vehicle was parked.
  3. Trying to tint the "glass" on any kit might best be approached with very light coats of any transparent colored paint. I have had fairly good results with very light dust coats of paint applied to the inside of the glass part. After masking the outside surface to prevent any overspray, I'll give a very light dusting on the inside mainly along the upper edge for an OEM type of tinting and a more even coat for something like a gasser. Waiting for a second or even a third coat after the first coat has setup. With the outside surface masked you will be able to see how dark the tint is getting after each coat by looking at the inside surface. Depending on the desired finish the glass can be dipped in Future Floor Wax to seal the color and add a high gloss to the finished glass.
  4. Very nice-looking carb. setup. I suggest a test fit for hood clearance before gluing this intake in place. Another possibility, that wouldn't be as nice but still a duel quad setup can be found in the AMT '60 Starliner custom kit the one with the blue car on the box.
  5. A story from when my wife ran the business office in a car dealership. The dealer was given to exaggerate if not outright lie about things in the managers meetings with the managers of all the departments. The managers devised a way to alert the other managers when he would start talking about something that they knew was not true. Whenever this happened, they would alert each other by lightly tapping the end of their pencil or pen on the table. He never found out what was going on if he ever even noticed.
  6. Depending on the era of the building you are wanting to represent, many service stations were built like Legos in that panels of sheet metal were used and bolted and or welded together.
  7. Saw this on the way to the store today. Bad picture, but how often do you see an International Harvester pickup done like this.

  9. Like the overall look of the body and bed finishes. The long bed step side bed would have been a great farm or construction vehicle. The tires look like a good set of mudders. I'll bet that winch cable gets pulled often though.

  13. Great looking distressed finish. Your mentioned fitment issues with the bed seems to be somewhat common with others who have built this kit. The interior and engine are clean looking.

  16. The body looks much cleaner without the stripes. The interior colors all look great together. Like the wheel and tire combination.

  19. Great looking body work. Never would have thought to use the nose off a '60 Plymouth and a '58 Chevy looking trunk lid. The added side trim and removing the Crown Vic roof trim makes the body look even longer and leaner.

  21. Round 2 has reissued the old AMT '60 Chevrolet pickup and it has a nice six-cylinder engine and an air cleaner that would be the correct shape if that helps.
  22. Great pictures, always enjoy the wide cross section of vehicles that show up at your car shows. That black '61 Chrysler with the cross-ram engine with the license plate stating it is a stick shift, that had to be a special-order car and one has to wonder about the back story to that one.
  23. I share your interest in the '66 Impala SS being an original owner of a 1:1 back in the day. I also built the AMT kit when it came out and it would still be a great kit and the price of one may be more affordable now with the Revell model on the market. I would suggest trying to build the Revell version as it is slightly better with additional detailing that AMT did not have. Much the same can be said for the Revell kit in the box you show.

  25. In addition to Dave Vans excellent suggestions a couple of additional considerations. Try using a clean dedicated paint brush to wet the model's surface. The brush can also be used to move the decal around after application on the model, a blunted toothpick is another tool that can be used to gently move the decal if it is still wet. Use a piece of paper towel to wick away any excess moisture by just touching the edge of the decal once it is positioned.
