1960 Chevrolet C10espo replied to espo's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Thankyou Steve. I have only done a hand full of truck beds and really like doing Woodies. Detail challenges in our hobby can be the most rewarding, and frustrating.

1960 Chevrolet C10espo replied to espo's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Thanks for the interest. I have owned a few of your "Sunday Trucks" and like the term. We just used to call them "Pretty Trucks".

Had 13 "Scam Likely" calls yesterday. So far today only 4, but it is still early.

International Harvester Scout IIespo replied to Jonathan's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Another seating option might be found in either of the early 1950's Chevrolet or Ford pickup kits. Their interiors were mostly exposed painted metal and seating that you wouldn't want to drive more than a couple of hours on. Think of a very industrial and rugged type vehicle, along the order of a Blacksmiths Anvil. They were built to last, and they usually did. Just not built for the comfort that many take for granted even for the time. These were products of a company that built Farm Equipment, so they understood building a durable vehicle.

Odds & Ends you'd Like to Seeespo replied to Calb56's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed I guess you could say it was ahead of its time. I prefer to call it the answer for the question that nobody asked.

Eight Robo Calls so far today and that's from 11:30 am to 3:15 pm. I don't need any help with my past due taxes since I don't have any due. I don't need 50% off on my cable TV. Just got another call!

Funny how the meaning can change as we get older.

When these were new, I was working for a Chevrolet dealer. Ours sat on the lot for over a year and we never even worked a deal on it. Every Chevrolet dealer got stuck with one of these. we even started offering a big commission bonus to any salesman that could sell it. Never worked a deal in over a year.

Two wheel drive 72 Blazerespo replied to jdhog's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Like the 2 wheel drive conversion. The Corvette wheels would work depending on the look you're after but notice that they are a directional design and when you do your final mounting remember to make sure of the wheel's direction.

International Harvester Scout IIespo replied to Jonathan's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Like the color. Looks like they are including the V8 engine in this kit. Knew a guy who had one back when these were rooming the streets. His was the 4 cyl. What IH did was just like Pontiac when they did their 4 cyl for the Tempest. They both just lobed off the right cylinder bank from their V8 engines and that's how they created their basic 4 cyl. engines.

The frame sure looks to be a challenge. May have to do with the tooling in use at that time, but this was not an uncommon issue. Sounds like you might just as well strip all of the chrome parts and redo them with some of the chrome paints on the market now.

Used to have just over half an acre to mow. We had several planting areas and trees to go around. The grass grew very lush with our unlimited water supply. Used a Sears 48" rider that had three baskets on the back that look much like your new rider. That is why I mentioned the baskets. I would cut the grass at least 3" to 4" high and still would fill 3 or 4 of those 42 gal. Husky brand trash bags with the clippings. Finally got smart and started mulching. After 8 or 9 years the engine was starting to use so much oil it looked like it was a diesel. Replaced it with a John Deere but 42" deck at my wife's suggestion. She couldn't understand how a two blade would take longer to mow with than a three-blade deck. Besides taking almost another twenty minutes to mow I would also use more gas. I could never explain to her how or why.
-
With a 48" deck you may need a bigger bagger unless you're mowing every couple of days.

A great little documentary about The Dark Side of The Moonespo replied to Mike C's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge #1. I have forgotten just how long ago this was all created. #2 The more you listen to the words you start to realize just how perinate they are even today. #3 Just need to sit down and tune out whatever is going on around you and just close your eyes and listen.

AMT Wild Hoss Broncoespo replied to catpack68's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Great looking trim on the smooth black paint. The interior looks well done. Like the engine and wheel & tires combination.

Always fun to build a model of your own vehicle. Wasn't sure about the paint finish until I saw the picture of your truck, they look the same. Like how you used parts from so many different sources, and they all look like they are from the same kit. Just need a couple of Moon Eyes decals to be complete. I'll mail you a couple if needed.
