Great looking paint finish and color. You even got the "Dish Slot" mags that were so popular at the time. Might take a closer look at the wheels on my Avatar. nice looking engine details and the spoiler adds some character to the body.

Great looking engine detailing, especially since it's out in the open. Like the paint color and smooth finish. I remember those AMT kits of the 1958 model cars. They were the first ones that didn't seem more like toys as I recall.

It hurts to have to strip a paint job, but sometimes it's best to start over and not try and keep covering a paint job that goes bad. The color does look good though.

7-22-23 Car Showespo replied to espo's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks) You would really want it if you had heard it running. The picture of the engine with the red intake manifold is that cars engine. The young child in the picture is the son of the owner. The car is more than a weekend driver for them. The red Torino is a real Cobra Jet car that the owner had been looking for for a long time. There are pictures of the engine and the fender emblems here as well.

68 chevelle SS interior colorsespo replied to Chuckyg1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers I was thinking further about the information I had given you the other day. I don't think it was as good as it could have been, so this morning I looked around again on google and just entered "1968 Chevelle Interiors". Far better results with pictures of actual cars with blue interiors. Be careful of the pictures you look at as some of them are actually of the '66 & '67 interiors and they are easily identified by looking at the shape of the dashboard. The pictures seem to indicate that the interior seat, door panels, carpet and most of the dashboard are all the same shade of blue based on the photos. The area of the dash around the gauges, steering column and steering wheel all are done in black.

Friday, a week ago I got my Baja Bug order on time as promised and packaged in such a way the shipper couldn't even damage it. 100% satisfied.

60 Ford ramp truckespo replied to falcon wagon's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Like seeing this bed on the older cab truck. What did you use for the front push bumper?

Great looking build. Like the color combination between the body and the top.
-
Both builds look great. The history associated with the two different body styles is interesting.

Wasn't the Vibrasonic and option for the radio at that time?

I remember your builds on the '63 Biscayne , and the Impala Convertible. The silver body with red trim here should look great. If you're going for an absolute stock showroom model, check the wheels color with the full hub cap. I think those would have had a black painted wheel on cars with the full wheel covers. You questioned the 283 engine. The 283 would have been available in any full-size Chevrolet body style with the 170hp 2 bbl. carb. The other options would have been a 250 hp or 300 hp 327 cu. in engine, and a 380 hp or 409 hp 409 cu. in. engines.

Zolland Design (great inspiration!)espo replied to NOBLNG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars) Both have some really interesting looking designs. The Zolland Designs has a wide variety of body styles and I notice they seem to like the '5 & '56 Buick body side chrome. The AMCASR Guide seems more focused on the Corvette body.

The kit was originally offered with the then new '70 Ford Mustang Fastback kit as cargo for the bed, if that's any help at all.

Whichever color you think about using try a spray out on a picnic spoon is the best way to see if it will give you the color you are after. This will also save you from striping the interior if the color doesn't look right to you.

68 chevelle SS interior colorsespo replied to Chuckyg1's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers Have you checked online at Google? Look up Google images and tell it what year and model you are looking for. You will be given several options to look at, and many of the pictures are of original or restored vehicles. As I recall on the Chevelles many of the low line models would have a black steering column and wheel. As you move into say a Malibu or SS style interior you will notice a more color coordinated look. Many of the interior colors, and your blue color as well, will have a slightly darker shade on the dash and seating surface along with some door panels and the carpet will be a darker shade.

Tamiya offers a color called Mica Red TS-39 also Bright Mica Red TS-85. You would want to top it with a flat or a very low sheen topcoat since a majority of these interiors were a cloth finish on the seating surface. The seat backs and door panels as well as the dash would be some sort of vinyl, so maybe a little more sheen than the seating surfaces.

No matter what you are going to try I suggest first testing it in an out of the way area that will not be noticed if anything goes wrong. You could start with just water on a Q-Tip and see what happens. The only cleaner or soap I would try is a dish washing product called Dawn. This stuff doesn't even affect my delicate hands. This product has also been used to clean oil spills off of bird life, really. In recovery efforts to save bird life caught in an oil spill rescuers have actually used Dawn dish soap to clean them without harming the birds or their feathers. This leads me to wonder if it would be something to consider for a cleanup on your Promo.

1960 Chevrolet C10espo replied to espo's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial Thank you for looking and your comments. The biggest challenge was getting the 348 engine in the chassis. The engine is wide enough that it had to be installed after the cab and chassis were together.

Always fun to revisit a kit that you enjoyed in the past. While the original is still great looking, you can notice many improvements in the finishes and detailing. These should always be displayed side by side.

Beautiful color, one of my favorites, and finish. The GSX graphics look good. These cars were often underestimated when it came to drag racing.

There are several ways to do this and for the most part I think it has to do with the tire you are using in the first place. What I have done is to first soak the tire in some Purple Power for an hour or so, followed by a good rinse with tape water. I'll spray the sidewall with a light coat of Tamiya clear and allow to dry. Next apply the decals and again allow them time to set. This is followed by a light second coat of clear and allowed to dry. At this point the appearance of the sidewall should be smooth and the edge of the decal unseen. A light coat of a flat or semi-gloss clear should give you the final appearance you are after. Remember when I mentioned the tire being important to the final finish? A couple of things to consider and may determine how you go about this process if you go this way. Should the tire be of a design that is very flexible or requiring a lot of man handling to mount of the wheel, you might think of mounting it on the wheel first and mask the wheel off before you start painting the tires. With a lot of flexing of the sidewalls to mount the tires it is likely that the paint on the sidewalls could crack. I'm sure there will be may others giving you information on how they decal the tire sidewalls, I would carful look at each suggestion and see what you think will work best for what you're trying to do.

I agree with everyone else on this color. Almost looks like it could glow in the dark. The body trim is all cleanlt done and the stance looks right on.
-
Beautiful looking deep blue color and the silver stripes are a nice accent without detracting from the blue color. The chrome trim is all cleanly done.
