  1. Some days I feel pretty good about life and others you just wonder is this all there is. Usually I just feel like a young man trapped in this old body. 74 in June and still no Toe Tag.
  2. Just had the same problem on my latest build. Not that it should matter but I was using Tamiya TS-49 Bright Red and just needed a little touchup around the windshield wipers. I have used a short drinking straw to spray just a little paint into a small cup. I only used just a very short shot from the spray can and I had more than enough to touch up my Bobo. I held the straw tight against the spray nozzle and had no problem with leakage between the straw and the nozzle.
  3. What are your build plans for this ?
  4. I like the style in which you are building this '36 especially the interior.
  5. I have enjoyed reading everyone's opinions on NASCAR and the France family and all the other aspects concerning what may or may not happen with NASCAR. Until a few years ago I had been an avid NASCAR fan going back to the early 1960's. Many things have changed thru the years and it seems that the more resent changes have not been better for the sport and is not working to attract any new fans either. When NASCAR built the new track here in Kansas we bought season tickets and had them for several years before we just stopped seeing the value in the expense. To be fair a lot had todo with the seats that were far to narrow for a bunch of sweaty bodies to sit in the hot sun for hours and have the person next to you blowing their smoke everywhere, it really had become a very unpleasant experience. The changes to the format of the races themselves have done nothing to improve my desire to even watch the races anymore. I liken the staged races of today with the way Football Games are stopped while the TV stations are on commercial break or even the seventh inning stretch thing. I would hope that they would return to Racing. Start with lightly modified showroom stock type cars. My personal preference would be Domestic only cars but that may no longer be a possibility. The race should run for the distance stated and only stopped for a Red Flag events such as a safety issue on track, not because someone's burger wrapper is flying around. The staged racing of today reminds me of short track racing with a couple of heat races to qualify for the main event. That was replaced years ago with 2 lap qualifications based on time to set the lineup for the race. They just need to get back to racing and leave the rest of the ongoing drama for reality TV.
  6. I think I better understand the color names now. The reason the Fawn Beige comes to my mind as a Lt. Metallic color was that in '61 my step mother was grinding my father very very hard for a new Chevrolet in that color. I haven't cared much for either every since. I do remember seeing a few '60's that were mostly the Bel Air models in the Beige color with the Copper interior and I always thought it was a great color combination. I didn't mean to side track your build over a question of color. I think your build looks like something Chevrolet could or should have marketed at that time.
  7. Thank you for sharing your pictures. So many outstanding builds and the level of detail and finish is outstanding.
  8. I have built a couple of them and they are actually very nice kits. As Snake45 pointed out some modifications would be needed to make a more main stream model. I have a future build of a standard SS with a small block. The trunk lid just needs the upper trim molding added between the tail lights, the engine call outs on the fender removed, and I'll be using the Small Block from the Revell Nova SS to complete the conversion. Beyond that the differences are minimal. Good luck with your build, I'd like to see what you do with it.
  9. I really like your wagon.
  10. The beige color you picked for the body, while a MoPar color, is very close to what GM used in 1960. The Fawn Beige color was different and the only reason I mentioned it was what seemed like your thinking that it was that color. The Copper color is almost a perfect match for what GM was using at that time. Sorry for the confusion. Either way I think this is going to look great and I'm looking forward to watching your build.
  11. Very sharp looking build. I like the detailing on the dash.
  12. Very nice paint job. The trim is very well done.

    My nomad

Very nice ageing, looks like it was abandoned in a field somewhere.

    '56 Chevy Nomad

Beautiful looking build. Every detail seems correct including the colors under the hood. I have never built a Stock Nomad, and now I think I'm going to have to.
  15. Your Beige body color seems very close to the Beige that Chevrolet was using at that time. The Fawn Beige was a very light Gold Metallic shade that became very popular in 1961 and beyond. The color combination you have used was not real common at that time and usually the ones I remember had the Copper as the primary color. I have seen it both ways and think this is a little more interesting looking. Your chrome trim and the interior look very nice.
  16. Looks real nice so far. I like your "carpet".
  17. Please, say it isn't so.
  18. I stand corrected. the Newman & Altman team later sold the rights to the Avanti to someone in Ohio and the State of Ohio guaranteed some loans to get the car in production. The company then was sold again and I think that was Florida and the new owner was killed in an auto accident. The whole thing went to Mexico and the new owner was busted in a big Ponzi scheme and was put in jail around 2006. Very sad ending.
  19. Besides his bad driving ability and deficient equipment issues, Just why would he be going to the Quickie Mart so many times a day ? Sounds as if the background story on your new neighbor might be a little more questionable then his ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  20. My understanding is that the round headlamps came about when production was moved to Canada. It may just be an old wives tail, but that is what I have been told by those who are sure that they know of such things.
  21. Looks like it has lived a very hard life. Well built.
  22. The Cab conversion looks perfect. The stance and overall appearance looks very realistic.
  23. Beautiful looking build. The paint is perfect, Black hides no flaws.
  24. Excellent detailing on this build.
  25. I like the NASCAR Chassis as it is ideal for this type of build. This body is perfect for a Road Racer type build.
