  1. peter31a makes a very good point. If you think back to how much of this hobby got started it was based on a couple of companies that had contracts with the American auto manufacturers to make "Promo" hand out in dealerships. They were popular and these companies started to offer basic no interior kits or already assembled models of the current model production cars. In the early '50's and especially after offering convertible models they started to include interiors. They enjoyed good sales and profits so they started to expand the body styles offered and each year they would offer the latest year models. By the mid to late '50's AMT started offering models of the '32 Ford and many others and I think that was when this hobby really started to grow beyond a simple showroom type model and they were even starting to offer Custom Options and what the manufactures thought was a Racing option. I think that if Revelle would start offering models of the current high interest models of today they would find it very profitable business model into the future. They would have a very big investment to start and wouldn't know 100% if they would be profitable so you can understand their reluctance to do this.
  2. In my mind this is SACRILEGE. I understand the Electric Car is gaining a place in market for new cars and many are embracing them and they be a major part of the future. This Porsche, even this so called inexpensive and easily attainable version, being converted to electric power is like drawing a mustache on the Mona Lisa because you think it looks better. I agree with misterNNL when it comes to the automobile. The sights and sounds are as they should be and that is the way they should be kept. I'm fine with someone wanting an electric car and buys one of the new offerings in the market place that they feel fulfills their needs. Maybe if this guy was doing old Yugo's I would be fine with it, but not something iconic like a Porsche and so many others that really represent something special from their point in time and should be respected for that.
  3. My thought was that the appearance of your model would be such that the may want to use a picture of it for their advertisements. I never thought of the Lawyer aspect. They always seem to be looking for the Fly poop in the Pepper.
  4. I have always thought this was a good looking subject in street or race trim. In the picture above look at the width of the rear tires. That is some serious rubber under that car.
  5. Great looking build. I have often purchased the Morning Rolls from Entenmann's, they are great. You might think of sending them a picture of your build. I'd like to know how appreciative they are of your build.
  6. A beautiful group of Corvettes. Super smooth paint and a great color combination with the interior. The longer I look at each one you notice the small changes that enhance the shape of the bodies.
  7. I have to agree with the others here. This not a subject that I would normally be interested in but with this build I'm thinking I'd better pick up this kit while it's on the shelf. The extra effort being put into this build really makes it interesting.
  8. A thought on the white striping. I would suggest the old spoon test on your paint issue. Think about using Tamiya White primer, since your using Tamiya paints anyway, as a base before trying to spray the White color coat. Most White paints regardless of manufactures have a hard time covering dark colors. Maybe even use a light coat of their Gray Primer then the White Primer and then the color coat. I would try it with a spoon or a discarded parts tree before trying it on the already painted body.
  9. The paint finish looks outstanding. I also like the stance and the wheels.
  10. The problems with the aging decals are an unfortunate problem. Using a Clear Coat over them has proven to be about the best solution. I have only used either Tamiya or Model Master clears with no problems. Many others here prefer sometimes "Hotter" paints and they would be better able to tell you of any problems if that is your choice.
  11. Revell has offered a very nice '55 Bel Air 2 door hardtop, a '56 210 2 door sedan.and In the '57 body style they also have a Bel Air 2 door sedan (post) and a 150 2 door. Revell also has a '57 Convertible but that may not be a typical Family Sedan. AMT has the Bel Air 2 door post sedan and 2 different versions of the '57 Bel Air 2 door hard top. There're may be others but these I have built and I know they are easily found today.
  12. I like that Laguna. This body style was very popular at that time in the 1:1, but never got the kits based on it that I would have thought. Very nice conversion.
  13. Looks real good and I like that color.
  14. Are you going to cast these ?
  15. It's just me, but I think all of the newer trucks regardless of manufacture have just gotten to big and all look like Tonks Trucks on steroids. I have owned full size 1/2 ton pickups thru the years but the newer ones are just seem overdone to me. If, and that's a very big if, I were going to get a new truck I would look at the Dodge and the GM offerings. While I have owned Ford pickups they were from the mid '50's and the time frame was the mid to late '60's. Traded my '60's El Camino for a '74 Chevy C-10 Step Side and customized it to my liking. This was replaced by a '79 Chevy. Step Side that I also customized and was used to tow a Ski Boat. The last one was a '95 Chevy X-Cab short bed that I also lowered and built a 383 Stroker Motor for it added the usual wheels and tires, sold it in 2010. That truck was like docking a boat when you tried to park it. My point is that the new trucks make the '95 look like a Mini Truck in size difference. These things have grown to the point that the DMV should have to test and issue special drivers licenses to anyone wanting to drive one of these things.
  16. I agree with you on the Grease movie cars. Who ever the advisor was had little or no knowledge of what the cars would have looked like in the time frame of the movie. The movie it's self was very entertaining some of the props used were lacking. Of course LNJ was enough to make someone leave and write bad checks but that's another matter. As for American Graffiti that was dead on in almost every level you can think of. I'm of a generation that can relate to that movie in every way and the cars were perfect . I feel that at sometime in my high school years I knew each and everyone of the characters in that movie.
  17. What a great idea in both scale and 1:1.
  18. OK I didn't know for sure as I haven't built either one.
  19. Just got back from HL. They had this kit with Smoke and the Bandit livery on the self. I have no idea but what it may have been out for a while, the only reason I noticed was because of the post.
  20. If the fidelity of the kit is even close to the pictured model this should be very big for anyone wanting to do a nice NASCAR build. I don't recall the Oldsmobile in this body style being done before.
  21. Do you know if this is the same engine that GM used in the Monte Carlo Turbo's or was it the Chevrolet engine in them ?
  22. Your fear of the "tomorrow" happened "Yesterday". We're all $!@#$%*.
  23. That's a great looking build. Maybe a silly question, but I think this was issued with a "Pontiac" engine. Many of the 1:1's were offered with the 403 cu in Olds engine because of emissions issues. Does anyone know if the Turbo model had the Chevrolet engine that I think the 1:1 was based on?
  24. Why all the "hate" on this kit ? If you don't like the subject then don't buy it. I along with more than a few others would welcome it back on the shelves. My hope would be that they could include all of the custom parts also so you could build it anyway you want or just "mine" it for parts. The movie version is a disservice to an otherwise good looking "Fat Fender" Ford.
  25. I like your concept and would like to see a 1:1 version. The only problem would be the Lottery thing. I'll enjoy watching your build.
