GUY HAS MORE $$$$ THAN SENSE. Would love to get that engine and trans., if its still any good, for my '10 Charger RT. The thing is with that hard of a hit he could very well of damaged the engine and in turn the transmission.

I think the Tamiya color your looking for is TS-92 Metallic Orange. I just used this on a '57 Ford and loved the way it turned out. Its a one coat type paint and I used Tamiya white primer. You could paint a couple of picnic spoons with white, silver, or gold to see which would give you what your looking for. Another option would be Testors #1831M Fiery Orange. It is a very high metallic almost metal flake like finish. Hope that will help.

Revell's Datsun-510 Tuner Series has a set of American looking wheels with very nice low profile tires. I think they offered a similar wheel and tire in their 240Z release also.

Very nice clean looking build. That is the ride height when they were new. I got a '66 Impala SS new, 396 and 4-speed. Before I got home I stopped at Scotty's Muffler shop in San Bernardino Ca. and had glass packs installed and had him warm up the front springs just a touch. Great car but insurance was as much as the car payment. Your model brings back fond memories.

Good idea on the stir sticks. I have used some Ice cream sticks from a bar called Magnum. My wife keeps me supplied. Made a push bumper for a '50 Ford pickup. Mounted with a bent fine wire. I drilled into the bottom of the "bumper" then bent at a 90 degree and into a drilled bracket I glued to the top of the bumper mount. It all looks very convincing and its removable. The sticks are a little wider then the coffee sticks and look like a solid piece, although you could score it and make it look like two pieces with a little more integrity. Just a thought. Are you going to try wider rear tires or stay with what you have now ?

Looks cool. Bet you could clear your driveway real fast with that this winter.

Like the flat bed idea. Did the front suspension in the kit have an I beam setup or did you ad that ? the side rails on the bed are very realistic with the gas filler and running lights.

A lot of good engineering on your part. I like that your using the inline. What sort of intake are you thinking? Have you thought about a turbo or maybe an early Corvette side draft setup. Or just hang an old Jimmy blower on the side.

The model looks out standing. It would be very hard to give up that nice of a Starliner. Really like the truck and your Garage Mahaul.

Tim, I like the way your build is going. If you still haven't decided on a color yet you might look at something bold and bright. Testors one coat lacquers has a lot of colors to consider. I just finished a model with their Fiery Orange, think of the OEM Sierra Gold on steroids. They have lots of yellows ,reds, golds, and silvers. Or a candy color like red or green. Tamiya has some pearls like their green. Just ideas.

I really like the tail lights, that's the one thing that I never liked about the 1:1 '58 Fords. Some guys used to use Pontiac tail lights or something on that order. These are much better. The grill and bumper looks almost like it should hang down a little lower, maybe a very small solid spacer between the body and the grill to drop it down maybe a couple scale inches? Look forward to see what all you do, I know it will be good.

Your '48 looks great. I like your idea of changing the hood. I'll use that when I build mine.

Look forward to see how your Gasser turns out. I also bought this kit thinking it might have been built off of the new '57 Chevy. I put it back in the box for another day. Where did you get the front axle setup ? Depending on how far you want to go you might replace the Fire Wall with a flat sheet of plastic as many of the gassers did that. Roll Bars would be one idea. Leave the back seat out and some light weight bucket seats. Real easy to go into an Altered class with an engine set back and the rear end slides forward to just behind the doors.

You say "it won't be stock", so what will it be ? Day two? East Coast or West Coast style or something in between ? What colors do you like. Solids, Metallic, Candy, Pearls, or Metal Flake. Depending on what your doing, a Pearl white roof would look good with a darker color body, most colors would be darker wouldn't they. Maybe a darker color Pearl body. You might try a Metal Flake or metallic roof with a pearl body. Would a primer body be something you would want to try?
