  1. This truck has exploded all over my Facebook feed today with all the usual complaints about destroying an industry and a classic truck etc etc. I can't seem to find any information on it, especially from Kenworth. The images I have show a side view rendering, plus two pictures of an actual truck undergoing post delivery inspection it seems. The door emblems appear to say W980, which fits with Kenworth's naming scheme. To me this looks like a T880S with a longer hood. Does anyone know much more about this truck? What little I've seen suggest there will be a corresponding Peterbilt model to eventually supplant the 389.
  2. Just stopped at the Seabrook, NH store. The lady working was rearranging the shelves and putting in new labels; she said the new stock was coming in soon. I'll stop again on Friday when I'm driving through.
  3. Compare the Monogram 1:24 '70 Mustang with the Revell 1:25 '69 Mustang. That should clear up any lingering doubts. ? A comparison between Monogram 1:24 '73-'87 Chevy pickups and the MPC 1:25 versions will also show a big difference.
  4. The RC2 era Lil Red Express reissues suggest the '79 cab is a separate part of the tooling.
  5. The same tires are also used in the Datsun pickup kit and a couple of the Bronco kits. Some of them are a lot better and softer; seems to be lick of the draw.
  6. Just stopped at the Bangor, ME store. Pretty picked over, grabbed another Lindberg 37 Ford kit and a bunch of paint. They still have the Porsche 914, Mazda RX-7, Datsun 280ZX, and the S&H Torino.
  7. Seabrook, NH store has lots of clearance items that have been mentioned earlier. Including the Gama Goat.
  8. As I recall the boat is removable.
  9. My company has a batch of Cascadias that have air bags in addition to leaf springs on the front axle. Dump the air and the whole truck lowers. I believe Volvo also offered this as an option. I didn't notice that much of a handling difference.
  10. My "work space" is completely piled up with stuff ever since I moved it to my basement right before my son was born (January 2017). I have my main building supplies in a tackle box, paint in a Plano plastic organizer container for taking in the truck with me.
  11. I guess I need to find the older style grille to make my truck accurate! ?
  12. I'm a dork for inline 6 engines and incorporate them whenever I can. ?
  13. This past week I've noticed some Western Express trucks hauling Walmart trailers around here.
  14. No, this is an AMC 258ci, which was an optional engine in the later years.
  15. Where were you based out of, highway? I run strictly New England and only ever see Prime hauling for Walmart. Well, aside from Walmart's own trucks that is. There's a Walmart DC in Lewiston, ME that I drive by six times a week so lots of Walmart trucks coming and going.
  16. I never did end up getting the Moebius trailers so I don't know about the differences between them. In addition to those you mentioned, reefers have insulated doors that usually have a diamond pattern on them. Plus reefers have corrugated metal floors and dry vans have wood. And then you get into ducting... ☺
  17. One piece interior tub/chassis, no understood detail, spring/axle combo, integral roof; really decreases the parts count. I had to do a lot of digging to flesh out this engine compartment:
  18. Ah! I'm used to seeing modern hyrails with the train wheels at front and back rather than in the middle like that.
  19. What's that riggin' under the door on those things? ?
  20. I picked up one of these kits today. There are actually four wheel options in the kit: stock steel wheels, 1:20 wagon wheels, plated wheel covers, and plated deep turbine style. The sticker on the wrapping proclaimed three wheel options; since the turbine wheels don't fit either of the tire options that may be why. I hope someone will make resin copies of the full length roof and interior panels. The window pieces for the roof are still in the kit.
  21. If the only difference is the reefer unit itself one of those kits is inaccurate. There is quite a different between a reefer trailer and a dry van/plated trailer.
  22. Is there anyone that makes a 73-74 grille for this?
