  1. Uh - oh . . . my favorite year ! Looks good so far , love that color !
  2. The finished build is here ! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87843
  3. For the paint I sprayed the body Gold first , then used pinstriping tape to layout all of the gold stripes . then I covered the entire body just leaving a small area exposed ( like the nose or a fender flare ) and sprayed flat black . I did this a dozen or so times to paint the complete body . I used flat black because it dries very fast ! In this photo the decals have also been applied . After touching up some of the stripes I sprayed some clear ! It's no where near perfect but hey , it's a car - toon right ? That's all Folks !
  4. The interior is next , lots of cutting and fitting here . Basically I fit all of the Revell pieces to the DW interior . After paint this is what it looks like . I also added steering to this build . Really , really simple setup here . nothing will ever be seen so I didn't spend a lot of time on this ! I found some really nice after market wheels and tires for 1/18 scale diecast , I use them on a lot of these DW models . I cut the centers out and replaced them with resin snowflakes and painted them gold . The tire lettering I printed myself and glued to the tires. After a couple of coats of Future they look decent .
  5. And here it is after a lot of filing , shaping , and sanding . After some more primer it still needs a lot of work ! The last body parts to transfer are the side vents . Time to put some tires under it and see how it looks ! Notice the T - tops have been cut out . After a lot more work the body is ready for paint .
  6. This post is for the guys who replied to my post in " Under Glass " . Of course the build started with a Deals Wheels kit and the body and some parts from a Revell Trans Am kit , I think it's the '78f Firebird kit , but they're all basically the same . I started by cutting the nose off of the Revell body , splitting it in two , and gluing it to the front . I also cut down the hood to fit and added some half round to increase the peaks . Next the taillight panel and rear bumper were cut to fit . Also the lower section of the rear window was cut from the Revell body and fit onto the DW body . I did some initial shaping and sanding before spraying some primer . I use Evercoat Polyester Putty to do the body work .
  7. A very big " Thank You " to everyone ! It's always a gamble to post a car - toon type of build on most forums , sometimes they are looked down on as not being worthy or something . I build mostly what is considered to be real models but I also build 1 or 2 of these every year just to relax and have a little fun . Most of them never get posted so it's a relief to get such a positive response ! I did take some photos during the build so I'll post a little WIP . . . look for " Bandit One " . Thanks again guys !
  8. Thanks much David ! Right back at ya with the Insani - T !

  15. Beautiful , I love the color !
  16. You're not the only one , I wasn't aware there was a national Vietnam Veterans Day either . Only that March 29th is recognized by about two dozen states as a day of " recognition " . Today the Governor of Utah signed a bill making today a state holiday in Utah , but I'm not sure if it is a holiday anywhere else . There was only a small article in today's paper here .
  17. Amen . I'm a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam . Thank you Jim for bringing this to everyones attention .
