  1. Beautiful car ! The trim work on the body looks great , the engine detailing is great , and the chassis looks great . It even has mirrors ! But the rear axle looks a little out of alignment , might just be the photo .
  2. This one is a mess ! The JoHan Petty Superbird built in '70 or '71 . Wrong color , straws for exhaust , aluminum foil on the firewall ? I'll rebuild it one day . And last is a kit I probably will never build . Purchased in the mid 80's , I'll wait for the reissue to build one .
  3. This is an MPC Petty Charger that I built in 1973 . I've taken it apart and started a rebuild using only the original parts .
  4. Okay , I have a few Petty cars to share with you . The first one is an original MPC Petty Plymouth that I built in 1972 . The kit didn't have the STP decals so I did some hand painting . This is how it looks today , unrestored .
  5. Thanks Bart and Pat . I'm going to give Steve a call and see if he has another one !
  6. Great job ! This fulfills my need for longroofs for the day !
  7. Really nice shop truck , it looks pretty cool ! The stuff in the bed looks very realistic . And good choice going with those wheels , they look much better than stock .
  8. Just one of those things that I never got around to . I have several built models from the 70's packed away , along with some old slot cars .
  9. Wow ! She's a beauty ! ! The white roof and the BMF look great ! And it was molded in that color ? Amazing .
  10. Thanks for the comments guys . The paint is Pactra Enamel sprayed onto the bare plastic with no primer and no clear coat ! Also , you can't see it in the photo , but the price sticker says $2.39 ! ! I bought it in 1977 at a Kmart .
  11. Looks great Bruce ! Love the color . First time I've seen the El Camino version built . . . I like it !
  12. I have to agree with George . . . The hood made a huge difference in the look of the car !
  13. A really great job ! It looks beautiful , and nice work on all the decals and trim work .

    Drop test!

Put it back together and forget about the custom wheels , It looks much better with the stock caps and white walls !
  15. I built this back in 1977 and a couple months later I packed it up for another move courtesy of the Air Force . I've been looking for another one and this morning I decided to unpack it and see what kind of shape it was in . To my surprise only the front wheels and the sidepipes had fallen off ! Not bad for 35 years worth of moves ! This was built straight out of the box , which is something I rarely do anymore . I'd like to build another and display them side by side .
  16. It may be free , but there is no exposure and little chance of selling anything . The previous post shows that even poeple on this forum don't know about it .
  17. Turned out very nice ! I used that Glitter Blast on my Manx too , it really looks at home on them . Good Luck !
  18. Mike , Now that's different but kinda cool looking ! Hard to make out some of the details , how about a clearer picture ?
  19. I asked a friend on another forum and he gave me the exact link you need . http://www.matchboxk...products_id=736
  20. Looks really great Jim ! Beautiful paint as usual , and it looks like you are detailing a little more with each build . The interior looks super clean , and the engine has a lot of details added . Maybe you can post another photo of it ?
  21. It looks real good from here ! The paint looks fine instead of using BMF . What did you use inside the light bar ? It looks like colored reflectors .
  22. I consider myself semi-retired as I still do a few jobs here and there to make my fun money . I usually spend several hours at my bench every day , but only actaully work on a build for about an hour . I also have my computer at my bench and I do my drafting there too ( fun money ! ) .
  23. Oh my ! Those are incredible ! I sure hope he had family to enjoy his artwork . Bless you Tapper .
  24. Okay Mike , I've been working on mine the last couple of weeks and I just fit the pieces together to take some pictures . There is still quite a bit of body work to do , and I'm going to replace the side molding using a smaller size 1/2 round rod . I also want to get the ride height lower than it is . Everything else fits pretty good , still need to work on the inner door panels . That's about it for now . If you have any suggestions , let me know before it's too late ! Thanks . BOB .
