  1. Beautiful paint and trim work ! Your detailing under the hood is outstanding ! Sorry , but I have to agree about the wheels . Maybe if they were chrome rims with black centers ? Ignore all us old guys . . . if you like it , that's what counts . Nice work .
  2. Thanks Chuck and Casey . I'm really looking forward to building this one !
  3. Okay , I'm about half way with my current project so I moved this one onto my bench . I hope a Nash still qualifies as an AMC ! I'm not sure of the year , maybe '54 or '55 ? I originally was going to do a pro street but have decided to do a mid 60's type hot rod , with pieces that would have been used back then . I don't seem to be very good at doing a work - in - progress , so I'll just post photos when I'm finished . And maybe a couple updates along the way . BOB .
  4. Wow ! The taillights look great !!! Very creative using what you could find .
  5. Holy Decals !!! Did all of those things come in the kit ? Amazing work , it looks great !
  6. I like what you've done here . The faded paint , rust and primered spots look great ! Also the interior with the spring popped thru the seat is cool . I don't get out much , so can you explain the things on the roof ?
  7. A cut - down windshield would look great on this bird ! I say "go for it !" . Take your time with a razor saw or cut-off wheel on a Dremel and don't force it . Also cover the entire windshield with masking tape to protect it . Use real masking tape , not blue painters tape . It will actually add some strength to the plastic and help stop any flexing ( bad ) that will occur .
  8. Really sad news . I was actually watching The Andy Griffith Show , like I do everyday , when I saw the news on the net .
  9. I'm not sure the type of flat white paint would cause a problem . The Testors clear lacquers aren't hot enough to react with other types of paint . Possibly it's the way you applied it , maybe too heavy a coat ? Also it could be the weather conditions when you sprayed . Very high humidity can cause a lot of weird things to happen ! As a last resort , strip the paint and repaint it the way High Octane suggested . Good Luck !
  10. I'm going to say model . Only because if I say it's real , I'll be wrong .
  11. Really gorgeous builds ! Curbside or not , they deserve to be displayed . Please do some more !
  12. This turned out great ! Nice and clean OOB build .
  13. Thanks Michael . I've owned six El Caminos but have always wanted one of these . I should have some paint on it this week !
  14. Looks really nice ! The green is the perfect color for a Manx . Glad to see more of these showing up , they kind of disappeared for a while ! There was a really good thread in the "Kit Review" section a few months ago .
  15. You need to find brass pipe fittings made by Weatherhead to go from 1/8 NPT to 1/4 NPT . Do a search or try McMaster Carr or Amazon Hose . Also , anyplace that makes hoses in your area should have them .
  16. Thanks Andy . I had a set of ET's on an ElCamino many years ago and have always liked the look . BOB .

    55 NOMAD

Really good looking Nomad ! I like the extras you added , like the open vent windows and the sliding windows in back .
  18. Great project . Really nice work on the grille .
  19. Here I used a piece of balsa wood and some pins to locate the rear axle housing and make the suspension pieces . Here's the finished rear axle assembly . These wheels are from my parts box . I'm thinking about painting the spokes a flat gray like the old ET mags . And the tires from the parts box . I'm going to start prepping the body next , so hopefully next week I'll have some pretty pictures to post . Thanks for looking ! BOB .
  20. Here the air filter housing is installed .
  21. I've made a little progress in the last week or so . Mainly , the engine is finished . Also have the rear suspension pieces finished but not installed yet . Here are photos of the engine .
  22. Very Nice ! I agree that it looks good because it isn't over done . The ticket under the wiper is a nice touch !
  23. You're moving right along on this and your work looks great ! To temporarily assemble parts I use a glue from Micro-Mark called Detail Tack . It's a white glue that when it dries leaves a very sticky surface . Parts can be assembled and taken apart as many times as you want ! Just put a small dab on one piece and it will stick to anything . I even use it on toothpicks to handle small parts , it's easier than tweezers .
  24. Those wood decals are amazing ! Definetly have to try them . Nice looking woody too !
