  1. Thanks Dave ! Think I bought it on Amazon but it's also at Hobby Lobby , Michael's , Ebay , etc . . .
  2. That Aqua really pops with the mica powders sprayed on top ! I like the smoothed look and agree the plain firewall is a plus .
  3. Thanks much David ! One small addition to finish of the interior panels , courtesy lamps on either side for the rear seat . I think they should be further forward on the panel so I'll end up moving them . I remember us kids sleeping on long trips and those lamps were bright enough to wake us up ! There were no door lock knobs on these cars . The door handle on the arm rest is pushed forward to lock the doors , pulled back to unlock , and pulled back all the way to open the door !
  4. Very impressive work , the taillights are looking really good !
  5. Neat video , I think you've found something new to do with all of that spare time you have !
  6. Thanks Bill ! Never thought I would either . . . first time for everything !
  7. Thank you Carl !
  8. Thanks Jim ! It's "Amazing Mold Putty" by Alumilite , think I bought mine on Amazon .
  9. Thanks Steve ! Completely new ground for me , definitely a learning curve .
  10. Lookin' great so far ! Nice work on the front suspension/steering and the Quick Change rear .
  11. It's not easy combing parts from one manufacturer with another especially body parts but you've done an excellent job . Great looking GT-40 !
  12. Nicely done , a great looking car and race combo !
  13. Finished up the side panels this morning . I started last week by drawing the upholstery onto the .020" panels I made earlier . Lots of trial and error and some compromise to get it to look right . Then they were cut apart into separate pieces , the edges were beveled , and they were glued onto the kits side panels . Next some piping was added and the chrome top caps were formed and glued in place . When I drew the patterns I didn't even consider the top caps , everything should have been lowered to make room . After it's all painted and in the car hopefully it won't be too noticeable . I was going to make the window cranks out of some plastic rod but then decided to try using some Bondic , I've had it a month or so and haven't tried it yet ! I found some decent cranks in the '64 Belvedere kit and made some small molds with mold putty . After filling the molds with Bondic I inserted short lengths of rod into each one and cured them with the Bondic light tool . . . pretty cool ! The rods will mount the cranks into holes that were drilled in the sides . Each mold has one window crank and one door handle , the door handles will be shortened and a knob added to make the rear window cranks . Next arm rests were made by shaping some flat strips and adding some rod for piping . . Here's the finished arm rests with handles added and the finished window cranks . And the finished panels with arm rests and cranks installed . They're just inserted into the drilled holes , after paint they'll be glued in place . Thanks for looking . Now on to the seats !
  14. When I read the post earlier about an 8-Track tape player I somehow knew you'd be making one !
  15. I like your solution to the seats , this should be fun to watch !
  16. Excellent job Dan !! A bunch of guys always complain about the inaccuracies of this kit but it sure does build up nice as you have proven with your great model .
  17. Oooo that's pretty , love the reds !
  18. I plan on building them both ! They don't do me any good just sitting in the box .
  19. Over the years I've become friends with a collector (he doesn't build anything) and always ask when he'll sell me one of his kits and the answer has always been "not gonna happen" , then I ran into him a week ago and he said to come over and we'd talk about it . We made the deal and I finally had my Holy Grail ! It cost me big time but I figured I'd get over it , then as I was leaving he came out and handed me this kit as a bonus . I got over it !
  20. This is painted with Tamiya TS-56 Brilliant Orange . I did spoon tests with this and Model Master Grabber Orange and they were an exact match .
  21. It's so simple and understated that it looks fantastic , great job Ray ! Never been a big fan of '40 Fords but I may build one of these for my very own .
  22. Very interested in seeing how this is done !
  23. Guess I shouldn't have assumed David meant "resin" , maybe he really meant to say Phoenix instead of Polara . Never was able to get my hands on the Modelhaus resin kit . I did see a knock-off once but the quality was pretty bad so I passed . The Polara was a great looking car !
  24. Good job on the radio ! Early 60's Fords are very popular and four doors + a cop car make it even more so . But it's your cuttin' and body work that really makes this a great build !
