  1. Thanks guys !
  2. So I stepped away from this and spent some time thinking about my next step . I really wanted to replicate the see-thru speedometer of the Dodge but once I remove the speedometer from the JoHan dash I'm committed to it , not to mention that I've ruined a really beautifully molded dashboard and this model would never be displayed with the top down . I decided to proceed by making a mold and using some Clear Casting Resin make a copy of the speedometer . While the casting itself turned out great it didn't look like I wanted , but it could always be used to repair the JoHan dashboard if I screw up . My other option was to make speedometer face out of clear sheet and print a decal for the numerals , so I created some artwork using a photo of the Dodge speedometer as a guide . Here's the actual printed decals (I always print extras). They lost some resolution because of the inkjet printer but not nearly as bad as a photo would . The printed border will be removed when I cut out the decal . They're printed on clear decal paper which is clear on a painted surface but when applied to the clear plastic it should have a slight frosted appearance just like the real speedometer . Next I cut the clear face from some .030" sheet and after several attempts I settled on this one . If you've never cut clear sheet it's much more difficult than regular sheet styrene . I used some .010" x .040" strip for the top . Now I could remove the speedometer from the JoHan dashboard , I worked slowly taking several breaks to make sure I didn't remove too much material . Also removed the molded on compass , it was an option that my Dad's Dodge didn't have . With some finish sanding and some primer it looks pretty good ! And here's the new See-Thru Speedometer ! The shroud still needs to be lowered a bit to look correct but I'm very pleased with how it turned out . Now I can get back to work and hopefully finish this build soon !
  3. Just the right amount of dirt and debris , not overdone like most . Great looking Sherman !
  4. That's a beautiful Mustang Keith , well done ! If you have luck using a Sharpie then go for it regardless of what some of us may say . I also agree with you about Testors tube glue , I've been using the orange tube forever and don't plan on changing .

Excellent display Fred ! I've been considering doing the same thing and you've just convinced me to do it , thanks !
  6. Very well done David , the black underbody really improves the looks of these a lot ! Great job ! Now if we could just get a decent windshield frame for these kits . . .
  7. Well that's a good sign ! I've ordered parts from the U.K. and from Australia that get shipped right away and usually the actual shipping time is 3-4 weeks , not bad considering . Also they're tracking never seems to show anything here in the states .
  8. I hear you Ricky . I manage by always resting my hand something while working , sometimes I even hold it with my free hand to keep it steady .
  9. Thanks much , I have very strong reading glasses !
  10. Not at all boring , you nailed it !! Great job , I love it !!
  11. Thanks Peter ! And yes you are correct . C1 Models uses 3D printing to create it's masters and then resin casts the actual kits .
  12. Beautiful Mustang ! I like it without the spoiler too !
  13. Very well done , it looks beautiful ! As primitive as the top mechanism may be it still looks great !
  14. Beautifully done ! I love your choice of colors !
  15. Thanks much Ray ! Very strong reading glasses and a magnifying lamp are a must !
  16. Thanks Pat ! Really nice stuff , I also bought the MGB-GT from them .
  17. This is a neat little 3D printed kit by C1 Models with lots of little parts plus some photo-etch . I've never built anything like this before and found out immediately just how fragile these parts are . . . my very first "snip" to remove the excess plastic resulted in a broken top bar on the frame ! It was easily repaired and a lesson was learned . Here's what you get in the kit . The only thing I added was a small block to insert the cables from the handle bars and from the frame , so it could be displayed without the VW fender . Here's more finished photos , thanks for looking !
  18. They say they are working on the box art and decals for a couple different versions including the "American" dragster which is what Monogram based the original kit on . It will be molded in white and release is scheduled for September 2021 .
  19. Those wheels look awesome , let us know how the shipping time is from Ukraine . I'm also a bit disappointed to see this kit is molded in orange (?) , I wasn't aware of that .
  20. Good idea Steve . I'm already working on one idea to replace the speedo and will also give the casting idea a try , I have some clear casting resin that I can use . One of these ideas should work ,Thanks !
