  1. Nicely done , a great looking car and race combo !
  2. Finished up the side panels this morning . I started last week by drawing the upholstery onto the .020" panels I made earlier . Lots of trial and error and some compromise to get it to look right . Then they were cut apart into separate pieces , the edges were beveled , and they were glued onto the kits side panels . Next some piping was added and the chrome top caps were formed and glued in place . When I drew the patterns I didn't even consider the top caps , everything should have been lowered to make room . After it's all painted and in the car hopefully it won't be too noticeable . I was going to make the window cranks out of some plastic rod but then decided to try using some Bondic , I've had it a month or so and haven't tried it yet ! I found some decent cranks in the '64 Belvedere kit and made some small molds with mold putty . After filling the molds with Bondic I inserted short lengths of rod into each one and cured them with the Bondic light tool . . . pretty cool ! The rods will mount the cranks into holes that were drilled in the sides . Each mold has one window crank and one door handle , the door handles will be shortened and a knob added to make the rear window cranks . Next arm rests were made by shaping some flat strips and adding some rod for piping . . Here's the finished arm rests with handles added and the finished window cranks . And the finished panels with arm rests and cranks installed . They're just inserted into the drilled holes , after paint they'll be glued in place . Thanks for looking . Now on to the seats !
  3. When I read the post earlier about an 8-Track tape player I somehow knew you'd be making one !
  4. I like your solution to the seats , this should be fun to watch !
  5. Excellent job Dan !! A bunch of guys always complain about the inaccuracies of this kit but it sure does build up nice as you have proven with your great model .
  6. Oooo that's pretty , love the reds !
  7. I plan on building them both ! They don't do me any good just sitting in the box .
  8. Over the years I've become friends with a collector (he doesn't build anything) and always ask when he'll sell me one of his kits and the answer has always been "not gonna happen" , then I ran into him a week ago and he said to come over and we'd talk about it . We made the deal and I finally had my Holy Grail ! It cost me big time but I figured I'd get over it , then as I was leaving he came out and handed me this kit as a bonus . I got over it !
  9. This is painted with Tamiya TS-56 Brilliant Orange . I did spoon tests with this and Model Master Grabber Orange and they were an exact match .
  10. It's so simple and understated that it looks fantastic , great job Ray ! Never been a big fan of '40 Fords but I may build one of these for my very own .
  11. Very interested in seeing how this is done !
  12. Guess I shouldn't have assumed David meant "resin" , maybe he really meant to say Phoenix instead of Polara . Never was able to get my hands on the Modelhaus resin kit . I did see a knock-off once but the quality was pretty bad so I passed . The Polara was a great looking car !
  13. Good job on the radio ! Early 60's Fords are very popular and four doors + a cop car make it even more so . But it's your cuttin' and body work that really makes this a great build !
  14. Thanks David ! A couple of Polara's ? Boy I'd like to find just one !
  15. Agreed ! Building the foundation is necessary but I'm looking forward to adding the piping and other trim .
  16. Well I'll be danged . Over the years I've tried to stretch sprue unsuccessfully several times and finally gave up ! It sure does help to actually see it done , thanks Steve !
  17. I absolutely love what you've accomplished , using what you have and converting it into a completely different animal is my kind of build ! Great work Alan !
  18. Started working on the interior by modifying the rear arm rests . The Dodge arm rests are angled reward so a little cutting and some filler gave me the proper shape . The Impala interior was originally too long so I also lengthened the slots in the floor so the front seat could be moved reward about 3/16 inch . Some more filler and now the rear seat is smooth and ready to become a Dodge ! For the side panels I began by removing all of the molded in detail , then the pocket for the top mechanism was angled to match the rear arm rests . Instead of trying to scribe the Dodge door panels into it I decided to make an upholstery panel out of .020" sheet . The plan is to draw the Dodge upholstery onto this and cut it apart into separate pieces , then glue those pieces onto the original side panel . Sounds good in my head . . . we'll see . To modify the front seat (#1) I first filled the gap in the seat backs with plastic (#2) . Next filler was used and all of the molded in detail was sanded off so the seat was smooth , then the left and right ends were reshaped (#3) . The last step was to cut the seat back into a 60/40 split and add to the top of the drivers seat back (#4) . Some more filler and sanding gives me the basic shape of the front seat . Now I have the beginning of the Dodge interior ready for some detailing . There's still a lot of finish work to do then I can start adding some piping and other details .
  19. Thanks JC !
  20. Looks great in that gold color ! I have one of these and also a '73 Cutlass , maybe JoHan was updating the '73 to a '74 but didn't get it done in time so they slapped '75 plates on it .
  21. NICE !
  22. Dang Jim , you're doing some mighty fancy work lately ! Awesome job !
  23. Really nicely done Albert ! Seems your airplane skills work just as good on cars !
