Coming this year from Atlantis models
Bugatti Fan replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Wouldn't it be nice if Atlantis got hold of those Renwal moulds for the Virgil Exner Revivals. Not holding out much hope though as the moulds in all probability might have been scrapped years ago. Likewise those 1/24th scale Merit racing car kits from the 1960s. The moulds were sold to a company in Italy, but as far as I know we're never released again. The surviving Alfa Romeo and Talbot Lago moulds from Merit went to SMER in the Czech Republic. Not sure what happened to them since. Someone mentioned Atlantis ? -
Quite a versatile old kit, but showing its age though. I quite like vintage stock commercials like Jon's with the pumpkins.

De Havilland Comet
Bugatti Fan replied to Mike C's topic in All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
What scale is it Mike? Is it one of the original 1/72nd scale Airfix or Frog kits? Or is it one of the larger kits in resin? I was only looking at the real thing a week last Sunday when I attended a model show at the Shuttleworth Museum where it resides just 5 miles from where I live. It might be worth contacting the museum to find out the actual style of lettering on the aircraft, work out the actual sizes required for your model and get a specialist in making bespoke waterside transfers/decals to print them up for you. You saved the tailplane number so what you need now will all be just white.I If your model is 1/72nd scale it might be worth contacting IPMS UK who have a decal bank. A bit of a long shot, but who knows? HTH -

Back in the day I think that someone wanted to buy the ship and convert it to a cruise ship. I read somewhere that there was a military reason for the sale being blocked. It may have been something to do with the specification involved and so it languished and deteriorated too much over the years. A sad end to this Blue Riband Atlantic Record Breaker. Maybe someone will make a 1/350th scale kit ? I'm not holding my breath ! -
Health an Safety Regulations, don't you just love them. i'm sure that they were devised to guide the stupid! As for over protective parenting, a sure fire way to produce risk averse snowflakes. Are we not in danger of convincing ourselves that the risks to our kids is more perceived than real? It's ok for kids to run around and get a few grazes to their knees every now and again believe it or not. They are in more danger surfing the net unsupervised than running around outside.

Renwal The Visible Automobile Chassis
Bugatti Fan replied to regular guy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Brian, you could try a complete restoration job on that chassis that your dad bought you for Christmas all those years ago. What with all the finishing goodies we are all used to that were not around when that chassis kit was produced should be an interesting project. Matt, same suggestion about your part built kit. It's the sort of thing that the International Model Car Builders Museum in Sandy, Utah might be interested in as their display is about the development of the hobby. Unless they have one already of course . -
Tamiya cement guestion? Please explain..
Bugatti Fan replied to slusher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Oh! I have never really bothered to learn about the basics of the chemicals I have been using for making my models for 60 plus years. My goodness! I didn't realise I have been so ill informed in all that time ! As for making me a better modeller, having won a number of awards at national competition level over the years I must have just been plain lucky given my ignorance. By the way Pete, this post of mine is just a tongue in cheek wind up ! Lol. -
Tamiya LP48 Sparkling silver for chrome?
Bugatti Fan replied to dmthamade's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
The Holy Grail of finishing would be a Chrome finish that you will not need to handle with kid gloves afterwards. -
Tamiya cement guestion? Please explain..
Bugatti Fan replied to slusher's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think I might need a degree in chemistry to differentiate between all those Tamiya liquid cements ! Lol. My adhesive armoury is very simple EMA Plastic Weld, Tamiya Extra Thin Liquid, Humbrol Tube Cement, Fast and Slow Setting Epoxy, Runny and Gel CA, PVA Wood Adhesive, Card Glue, Super Phatic Wood Glue and a General Purpose Contact Adhesive. These basic adhesives serve all of my needs generally. Not really interested in a chemistry lesson about the subtle nuances of liquid cements or about their odours, interesting though they may be. All I am actually bothered about is having stuff to hand that works ! -
I have an original first issue Pocher Mercedes kit up for grabs that might interest a UK modeller. Besides that one I also have a Pocher Rolls Royce that is a 'bitsa'. Both items since I got them many years ago have been in my small stash since, and I now wish to dispose of them as I cannot see myself building either of them. Upon acquiring it, the Mercedes appears to be a complete kit. The dashboard and the wire wheels have been built by the previous owner. Whoever takes this model on might need to source a number of small screws etc. Otherwise the kit looks to be all there. The Rolls Royce 'bitsa' as I call it comprises of a basic chassis frame that has been built. The rest of it comprises a set of built up wire wheels and the rest of what I have is a number of bits and pieces to finish off the chassis, engine and transmission etc. Included in these bits is one of the original Pocher Rolls Royce radiator shells that was made from soldered brass and plated, unlike the later kits where this item became a pressing. Please PM me if you have anything that might be of interest in an exchange for the above items. An MFH kit in 1/12th scale would be of interest for example. Once a trade is agreed it would be better if the items I am offering for trade were to be collected rather than any risk to them in shipping. Location. Mid Bedfordshire UK. M1 and A1 are reasonably close. I am truly sorry that I cannot ship abroad to the USA or mainland Europe due to the excessive cost of shipping these bulky and fragile items.

Alfa Romeo 158/59
Bugatti Fan replied to Chris Smith's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Just a few hours? Must have taken a bit longer than that to make up those lovely wheels Chris ? Lol. Looking at all the 'under the skin' detailing that you have already done on the chassis, engine and running gear it almost seems a shame to place the bodywork on and hide much of it when complete! None the less we are seeing a superb model taking shape here. -
What do you drive?
Bugatti Fan replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A Bugatti Chiron. But then I am a compulsive liar/narcissist ! Lol. -
I like to see builds of stock older vehicles that have not been rodded or customised. This is a good build to have followed this far, and will be seeing how this model develops.

Matija, Thanks for the update about what happened to the Zastava factory that made the Yugos. It made interesting reading and I will be curious to see what this new car with the Yugo name will look like. I guess it might be an electric or perhaps a hybrid car.
-
Maybe Matija Vasic can throw some light on this. From what I understand, the Yugo factory was bombed during the unrest in the former Yugoslavia (before the country was split up into different smaller nations) very shortly after its latest car model went into production. That effectively was the end of Yugo car production as far as I know. The revival of the Yugo name with the announcement of a new car is interesting. Was the original factory rebuilt or production moved (moving) to somewhere else? What market will they be pursuing? The bottom end like the old cars were aimed at, or going upwards at mid priced cars like the Ford Focus for example. My next door neighbour's son had one of the old style Yugo cars as his first set of wheels. Got rid of it asap claiming it was a pile of cheap garbage!

When can we expect to see issue 226
Bugatti Fan replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
Scale Auto was quite a good magazine until it's demise. Model Cars Magazine seemed to be a bit more stable when being produced by Golden Bell publishers. As it is a commercial magazine, not a club information print run maybe it now needs the strength of an established publisher to take it on. Who knows? Model Car Builder, again a good magazine but closed when the owner editor decided to retire and shut up shop. The new Auto Modeler Magazine is finding its feet right now, so it will be interesting to see how it turns out long term. -

Beautiful model Pierre. -
Competent conversion. Looks really good. Will have to have another look at the FP Modelos website. Didn't know he did 1/12th scale transkits as well as his 1/24th scale kits. Well I'm confused. I looked on the FPP Website and could not find this trans kit being shown on it It obviously exists as Thomas shows the box for it in his original post and has done the kit conversion. So how did Thomas find out about the trans kit originally?
