  1. This has been a very interesting thread to read (apart from the sick jokes about what happened to the people who died in that submersible).
  2. We have what I would guess to be a chain of multiple crafts stores named Hobbycraft here in the UK that looks to e a similar operation to the US group Hobby Lobby. For lateral thinking model makers it is an Aladdin's Cave of things that can be used for our hobby.
  3. Lovely model Bill 3D Printing has certainly revolutionised parts manufacture by enabling people to design and make their own kit of parts for a model to very high definition far in excess of that from conventional moulding methods.
  4. Over here in the UK we have experienced a month's worth of rain over a couple of days with the inevitability of roads being flooded. A stationary empty car parked up getting overwhelmed by flood water is one thing. But It never ceases to amaze me the number of drivers who try to use their cars as it they were driving a Land Rover fitted with a snorkel. End result by not turning back, car stuck and ruined by water ingress and driver placing themselves and passengers in danger.
  5. Like you say Pete, forums can differ quite a bit how they are set up.
  6. I am surprised that the very early Lambo 350 GT has never been done Bill ! It is a nice looking motor car. Just about all their other cars have had kits made of them but this one seems to have slipped through the net somehow. Not sure if there is a resin offering out there somewhere.
  7. The AM Vantage that Scott suggested would be good in plastic. I have a feeling that there might be a die cast of it in 1/24th scale. I wish that Tamiya would make the ultimate accurate E Type Jaguar kit in 1/24th scale. Actually I think that they could do a great job of it in 1/12th scale going large ! Would probably be very popular subject if they could engineer it so that the modeller can build it in either RH of LH drive. Or maybe MFH might consider it. It would be nice to see a Facel Vega Excellence from Heller. Who else, being a French luxury 1960's car.
  8. I agree that it is good to be able to upload photos directly, unlike other sites leaving one at the vagaries of the photo hosting sites. I questioned a British modelling forum recently as to why they do not allow direct uploads and it was explained that it would take up too much capacity, allow them to run it without advertising etc etc. As not being techie, I was asking for an explanation as to why. However, some posters took the time to explain it to me in layman's terms whilst some others were showing different levels of intolerance as though I should not be questioning that forum about it. Basically I was trying to understand why this forum could and that forum could not.
  9. Lovely innovative diorama Really like the open topped car with the wicker seats. Did you convert it from the Tamiya kit? And it so how did you make the wickerwork seats?
  10. That's nice Les. Your barn/shed building looks very convincing. Dioramas are a good way of utilising loads of those left over odds and ends from conversions and the spares box.
  11. Neat ! I quite like compact dioramas. Very nicely executed.
  12. My guess is that Scale Motorcars is now inactive Dan.
  13. I wasn't aware of a peel back label on Humbrol exposing microscopic multi language information Les. Will have to have a look at some of my old tinlets ! For a long time now I have been using automotive aerosol acrylics. I can airbrush as well as anyone else, but guess I have just got lazy for their convenience of use.
  14. Richard, it every country in the EU had insisted on multi languages on the tin when the UK was in it, we would be having to buy Humbrol from by the litre! As one poster said about cleaning out airbrushes on masse in Ottawa, Canada is so vast with so much sky for fumes to dissipate it would go unnoticed! Joking apart, some of these rules and regulations are getting a bit 'nanny statish' where we cannot be trusted to use our common sense any more. And all probably due to a brainless minority who take a delight in in stuffing chemicals into their bodies who of course have to be protected by nameless jobsworths in various authorities world wide.
  15. Didn't know they had a presence on here Erik. Thanks for the link.
  16. If anyone buys knock off stuff knowingly then gradually the genuine originators go out of business.
  17. Problem is those fraudsters who copy and sell on anyone else's work know full well that in most cases they can simply get away with it. To use the law against them is too prohibitive cost wise for 'small fry' for want of a better description. The only way to get back is by naming and shaming to act as a deterrent to would be buyers of rip offs being sucked into buying thinking that what they are buying is legitimate. Trouble is by allowing a 3D file to be used it is wide open to such activity. Complaining to EBay and other such organisations is probably just flogging a dead horse.
  18. A lovely atmospheric diorama taking shape here. The building work is excellent as is the detailing of the car models in their own right. Figure painting can make or break this kind of work and has been done very well to compliment the overall realistic effect of the diorama. On top of this the cars will have working lamps with the wiring to them rendered invisible. An incredible piece of work, and I take my hat off to Harald for having the vision and doing extensive research to build this amazing civilian diorama.
  19. Just about all of these so called 'studies' seem to attract over large investigative committees that are formed because there is felt to be a 'need' of opinions from so called 'experts' about what is blatantly obvious to the rest of us !
  20. What did I see in my back yard? WATER ! Nearby small river burst its banks after we got a month 's rainfall in two days. Touch and go whether my house got flooded, but thankfully the water started to recede just in time. A couple of nearby houses, not so lucky. Lived here for over 40 years and never seen it get as high before. The weather patterns are definitely changing worldwide. I'm no eco zealot but we cannot ignore climate change causing extreme weather fluctuations world wide.
  21. This model is really taking shape well Andrew.r That old Barchetta is a lovely looking classic with lots of character.
  22. Really nice model Steve. As you like shooting brakes (often called estate cars or tourers) you might be interested in looking at C1 Models website. It is a UK company and I seem to remember them having a Callaway conversion resin for the Revell Corvette I think?
