Personal Data Consent
Bugatti Fan replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
Dave, the consent pop up appears when I am using my Amazon Tablet. I have logged on this time on my PC using Windows 10 and it has not appeared. So nothing to screen dump and therefore a bit of a mystery why it is appearing on one device and not another. It may be Amazon's own Silk software prompting it, but on the tablet I have set up and use Duck Duck Go all the time. The consent request pop up has only been appearing fairly recently as it did not before. Don't think I can screen dump from my tablet, so when I can I will take a photo of it when it appears. -
FB spreading its tentacles into the general modelling arena like Spectre in a Bond film. What's the big attraction of Facebook? I was a user of a site named Friends Reunited years ago and contacted old school and work friends through it as you could go to your old school of workplace on it to see who is there. Made contact with a lot of old friends through it. Gradually it lost out to FB like Randy's site I guess. Personally I find FB a bit of a pain as rather than go to an old school of workplace listing you have to put a name in and sort through shed loads of people all over the world with the same name. The Friends Reunited site was better for finding old school friends and workmates by the way it was set up. And also when I looked at the old school site, someone else I knew often registered since the last time I looked.

Personal Data Consent

Dave, that's a bit of a mystery to me as to why the asking consent box pop up is not appearing on other users computers. Anyway, If it appears again I will try to screenshot it and get a copy over to you so you can see what it looks like. -

Russell. The question appears in a pop up box each time I go to log in. -
Why is this site now asking for consent to use personal date? Was this site sharing personal data without consent before? Hopefully not.

My goodness! I would have thought that a straight restoration of the Rolls with all your usual upgrades would be work enough ! You certainly set yourself some challenges. Not sure if there will be anything you will be using from that old Rolls kit going by the new project from the Marvel series you are proposing. You might end up completely scratch building the Marvel car and still have the Rolls to restore! The Marvel films are really good escapism, and quite humerous in places too. I have enjoyed watching quite a number of them so far.

Land Rover 109
Bugatti Fan replied to Brizio's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I thought so Fabrizio. Brilliant job ! Fred Dibnah would have been proud to see your model if he was still around. Incidentally since our PM's some time ago about your Joplin Porsche, I had a go with the 1/16th scale Revell Porsche 356 Cabrio kit. I posted a couple of pics of mine in the thread about Favourite Paint Jobs. I can really appreciate your painting skills on that car as in 1/24th scale it was a lot smaller than the one I put my efforts into. And, plus the fact that you converted it to a cabrio from a Fujimi coupe kit! -
the old chevy farm truck

Really good model of a well worn and beaten standard commercial vehicle still being used. -
Watch and listen to Mark Knoffler's fantastic guitar riffs in Calling Elvis on the Dire Straits Concerts Videos from the 90's on You Tube.

Cheapo cutters are certainly not designed to cut stout wire, and not much good for anything else either. If the wire was steel, even worse ! Always buy good quality tools designed and fit for purpose. Right tool, right job. Even quality tools can be damaged if misused, but will prove a good investment if used properly and will last for many years.

Plenty of nice ones about David ! The Abarth versions look quite tasty ! My original was white back in the 70's so will have to check out the Fiat paint specification for that time to use on my model. Thanks Carlo for confirming the Italeri kit has a RHD option as well as LHD. Good thinking on their part.

I used to own a Fist 500 back in the 70's. A fun little car. Cheap to run. Cheap to insure. Did many hundreds of miles in it but it was a bit of a rust box unfortunately, so it had to go at the time. In hindsight I should have stored it away for 40 years of so and got it fully restored as they are quite desirable now. I saw one on display at a Fiat main dealer recently. It looked tiny even against the modern Fist 500. Will be looking at the Italeri kit as I believe it can be built in both right and left hand configuration. RHD would be my option as a UK driver.

I can remember watching Forbidden Planet at the cinema when I was knee high to a grasshopper. They were giving out cardboard promo models of the space craft to cut out and make. Robbie the Robot made quite an impression as did the special effects for that time way back in the fifties. I wonder if any of those card model cut out sheets have survived? Would be quite collectable now or great to reproduce as a nostalgia piece.

Land Rover 109
Bugatti Fan replied to Brizio's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Brizio, did you sign write the Fred Dibnah Land Rover? When I enlarged the picture up really big, I could see some very slight variations in the lettering and its shading. If so, what an incredible job you did on it. Sign writing is very difficult to do, particularly in smaller scales, so credit where it is due. -
Monogram's 1955 Lincoln Futura Concept Car: WIP
Bugatti Fan replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Two tone on this particular model doesn't do it for me unfortunately, but naturally many opinions will differ !I Emulating the Pearl White of the prototype is what I would personally go for. I would try spraying silver over a white primer and ghosting a very thin white over the silver to get the effect I want and finish with clear. This of course would be failing to obtain a proper pearl white. Not sure if Alclad make a white pearlescent candy colour in their range. This particular build is coming along really well and it would be nice to see a reissue of the kit. -
Bending Resin Parts
Bugatti Fan replied to TransAmMike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Resin parts can become more pliable if immersed in hot water. Be careful not to leave in the hot water too long though or distortion might take place. -

Knew you would find a way David ! -
Almost there Francois! Great model making that you have been sharing with us. Nice to see your cooperation with Nick sharing 3D files as well. Two brilliant modellers working together. The jig you are making for doing engine turned patterns sounds very interesting and will be looking out for that.

This is really coming together well. Old larger scale classics are quite appealing and a refreshing change from all the modern stuff. -
ICM Model A and Monogram As build comparison

Shetland is quite a ferry crossing from the Orkneys ! -
Bruce. The re spray of yours looks really good (and also appeared to be necessary). Looking at an earlier post of yours, as supplied the pre painted silver of the doors, hood and trunk looks way off and too light compared with the main body colour. I would have expected tighter quality control of the paint match of the parts considering the cost of these model kits.

Monogram's 1955 Lincoln Futura Concept Car: WIP
Bugatti Fan replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
Holy broken bones Batman ! Nice to see a model of the actual car that sired the Adam West Batmobile from the 1960's TV. This model is coming on well. It is always interesting to see American concept car models from that era.I I can remember building a 3 wheeled concept car model with a VW engine by Monogram way back and I think a Pontiac that Revell re released a few years ago.
