  1. Don't know what else to suggest. And your wife wanting to check out hobby stores for you...definately a keeper. My wife looks for stuff for me when shes out too. She's found a few great models for me.
  2. I was just kidding around, but.... Didn't know there were drivers that small. *Just checked them out. Pretty cool stuff. Might have to try some of their products out.
  3. Google "hobby store's in (enter city/state here)" and see what you get. Easier than asking people who don't know.
  4. Love how you tied everything together from the bumpers, shifter, and Hula girl, even the steering wheel. Really like the cooler. Where did you find that?
  5. Looks like a Mini Moke! Awesome job on the scratch building!
  6. Micro ratchet wrenches of course. Kidding...just out of curiousity, what's going on the bench for the nuts and bolts?
  7. Looks very similar in construction to the Toyota Land Cruiser I have 1/2 built.
  8. Work on one of the 20 or so other open and started kits I have "on the bench".
  9. The Cutlass Supreme Convertible kit has the hood you're looking for. It's a nearly identical kit. Just doesn't have the 442 hood, decals, and maybe a few other small parts. Love the idea of what you're doing. Great movie too.
  10. This one was a car that belonged to my dads best friend. When he bought it, the story was the original owner bought it for his wife. It was a Brands Hatch Green with a saddle interior '71 Corvette. She drove it for a year or two and then decided she wanted a red Vette with a black interior. Well, the husband took the Vette in and had it painted red and dyed the interior black, and then gave her the car back. My dads friend eventually bought the Vette in the '80's. Drove it in the fair weather only. He discovered the front sub-frame was completely rotted out and the restoration began over the next 10+ years back to original colors. He worked on it in his spare time in his shop that also housed his business. He finally finished it a couple of years before he retired. He moved up north after retirement and drove it a lot during the summer. I was at my dads cabin for a long weekend a few years ago and my dads friend rolled up in the Vette. All he said to me was "get in". We rolled out to the road and he stopped, dropped it into 1st gear(it's an automatic) leaned into the pedal and accelerated through the gears. That was the first time I experienced tunnel vision. A few miles down the road he pulled over and jumped out..."you drive" was all he said. Not my car...I had to take it easy for the drive back. Got back to the cabin and grabbed the camera for some pics. My dads friend asked how the ride/drive was. "Awesome" was all I could say and "thanks" for letting me drive it. He said "good....wanna buy it? I'm selling it and I'm offering it to you first." Stunned...I didn't know what to say. I was already in the middle of making car payments, so the unfortunate answer at the end of the weekend was no...I can't and thanks for the offer. He sold it a few months later. I'm also not a fan of green cars of any shade. Now it's a few years later and I found this picture of the Vette. Regret, regret, regret....what a bad feeling it is. Here's the pic...
  11. Heard a nasty rumor that a twin turbo V-6 was in the works for a possible new engine. Say it isn't so. Not liking the "Corrari" style either. And Harry...the LED's and Halo's, I'm guessing, would be the up-scale Euro version of DRL's that GM started back in the 90's.
  12. Haven't figured out the layout yet, don't know what the room looks like, but I have the cabinets already. Now my wife and I just need to buy the house where it'll be. She's already given me the basement just for such a thing. It'll have a work area for the usual building and brush painting with the cabinets above. And then I'll build a vented paint booth lined with sheet metal for easy cleaning. Just wipe it down with thinner or whatever. The entire room will be sealed...walls, ceiling, and epoxyed floor (the garage floor stuff). Also would like to build lighted display cases for all the finished models in a separate area. Sounds like a dream, but it'll be a reality within about five years or so...at least the house will be. Then I can build away.
  13. $2.2 mil and it's only got a V-10?
  14. Although not offered to the general public new, I have seen a few brand new ones for sale on ebay. Or, you can wait till they come to the police auctions in a few years.
  15. I've seen something like those on ebay cast in resin.
  16. If it is real...I'd be really be disappointed with the body gaps around the hood area. If they're that big in the picture...imagine how much of a gap there is in person. Serious craftsmanship problem.
  17. I'll have to look out for it next year. Hopefully Jim Wangers and Arnie Beswick will be there again. I've met Arnie a couple of times...really nice guy, and I'd like to get Jim's autograph in a GTO book I have.
  18. 200-250, 300-320...depends on what story you want to believe. I looked it up on Wiki Answers and got 317 1968-1970 Charger's used for the show with an average of 3-4 cars used and abused per episode. There were almost 30 GL's at the end of the series. Some of those were used in the recent movie. The leftovers are now sitting in a studio lot. Don't think there is a straight answer to be had except that a lot of Charger's were destroyed for TV and movie entertainment. Speaking of movies...doesn't the Charger in the second half of the movie "Death Proof" look oddly familiar?
  19. Got a call from Alex today. Going in to talk tomorrow and we'll go from there.
  20. If you happen to have the Velocity channel on whatever service you use...check out the show "Rides". In particular, the episode of the build for Kenny Wayne Shepard's GL. On the show, they visited the garage that built all the GL's and explained what they did to create all of them. They also built all the squad cars. Plus, they showed pictures of their lot full of GL's and squads.
  21. @Mike- Well, I'm a little disappointed that they didn't call me today. Hopefully tomorrow before I call them. Was out all day on the other side of town, so I wasn't able to call them or stop in. Anyway...My wife and her daughter were out today doing a little shopping, and of course they had to stop at their favorite thrift store after Wally World. Well, as soon as she saw it, she didn't call or hesitate, and bought me this.......Did you see the price? Except for one of the front suspension springs...it is complete. There were even 4 small bottles of paint in the box too.
  22. The same guy has another '40 Plymouth he's restoring. It's totally original. Last time I saw that one, it was still together. From what he told me, he's already separated the body and frame. The engine, original 6 cylinder, is already rebuilt. Soda blasting the body is next, so he's really moving along. No pics of that car though.
  23. That's what I use. Settles the decals in all the nooks and crannies. You can get it through Walther's in Milwaukee, or a lot of hobby stores will carry it. Usually in the paint section.
  24. The Riv...maybe. But, I don't agree with the year. I think it's the '65(?)...the year the headlights were moved out to the outside and had the clamshell hide-aways. That was pretty cool. The rest of the list...no.
