Tilted wheels. Why?
JollySipper replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Do any of you remember squatted cars in the '80s-'90s? The car was usually something like a Monte Carlo, Olds Cutlass, from the period, and usually had deep set Centerline wheels....... Maybe it was just a thing here, but I kinda liked the look. There wasn't so much squat that the cars were unsafe, just enough to have that 'look'..... White letter tires, and a gallon of Armor-All..... -

That looks really good! Foil is actual metal, so nothing else is gonna look as realistic as it does......... -
Homologation rules stated that a certain number of cars had to be made for the street in order to race in some classes, which is how a bunch of cool cars came about.......

What interrupts your build time?
JollySipper replied to TopherMcGinnis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That wiper motor looks great! I bet that you're doing a huge service to those restoring the classic cars......... Some folks would rather keep an original part instead of just replacing it. -

If you do decide to use foil, you can cut the long straight pieces right on the sheet...... Just use a straight edge ruler of some sort, and just use it to make long thin strips. That way there's very minimal cutting on your beautiful fresh paint! -
Poster sized pics of cars is what I had on my wall as a kid, along with pictures of artwork by Salvador Dali.......

Whatever you do, man, don't try to lift the excess foil with the Xacto blade........ Use a sharpened toothpick or something kinda soft. One of my first foil jobs was a '61 Impala that like you I had painted silver. I was on the last piece of foil, and thought I could lift what was trimmed away with the blade...... I chipped the paint (of course...) and had to repaint.... -

What are the must-build classic kits?
JollySipper replied to CabDriver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I kinda think that the Monogram '37 Ford coupe and variants fall into the 'must build at least one' column. I've built three of the coupes myself. The time they were tooled in was a good time for autos in general, so there's those cool contemporary parts from the time......... -
Rhyming is funny in that two words can sound the same, thus rhyming, but be spelled different from each other........

Acceptance of 3D printed models?
JollySipper replied to jdhog's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have a model 'kit' that was 3D printed...... At the time it was the only way to get one of the subject that looked decent. I couldn't be happier with it! I plan on building it just like I would a plastic kit, only not with tube glue. -
Toupees aren't gonna be enough in a few years, I'll need Threepees to cover the cue.......
