T.R.O.G. style '30 roadster-updated 4/9 NSRA pick!!!

Nice work as always. What are the rear tires from? -
Thanks for the comments guys. I started on the hood sides today and I have to say it really helped the looked of this car in my opinion.

I think all the body work is done, I need to shoot another coat of primer but I believe it’s good to go. This is the final ride height as well. I’m gonna start on the front sheet metal tomorrow. Also added the cowl vent.
-
I made a more stock appearing floor pan for the rear. I wanted to add some detail to it but I tried a couple things on a test panel and nothing really turned out quite like I wanted. I decided to use the olds rocket motor so I went ahead and made some engine mounts for it.

Still plugging away at this rearend. I’m using the tires from the monogram 41 lincoln. Instead of grafting centers into the stock wheels I decided to add a strip to the wheels from the revell 29 roadster. They fit pretty good aside from a gap on the back side so I made a plate to cover it. I then made some mounts for the spring on my quick change. I’m using the spring and cross member from the amt mod rod.

I couldn't wait any longer, I had to mock it up with the hood and grille. I decided to run the stock grille instead of the track nose. I'm just going to save that for another project.
-
I've been away for a while but I want to have this done for a show in April. With that being said I am back on the bench. I pinched the front rails so I can tuck them in behind the grille shell. The front is mostly done aside from the shocks, I'll probably do some old friction shocks. I also drilled out the backing plates. Plans are to start on the rear suspension tomorrow.

I drew 4 rectangles, scored them a couple times, and then I snapped them off. Everything else was done with a dremel aside from some fine tuning with my exacto.
-
I decided to try out a track nose. I layered 4 pieces of .060 sheet and made my own. Still needs some tweaking but I like the looks of it.

It wasn't even my car but that killed me, I hate to see anything like that happen. Its tragic when people put their hard earned money into a project like that, not to mention the countless hours invested in it. Last I heard he was going to rebuild it but with original henry steel this time around. I really didn't put that much thought into it but you're right. That's a good possibility!

I kicked the rails up a bit to much so I grabbed a fresh frame and redone them. I also decided to channel the car just a little. I think it looks much better now.
-
Well it doesn't get much better than that. I look forward to seeing more of this one. The scratch work on that x-member is so clean! Here is a link to some 3d printed "divco" wheels. https://www.shapeways.com/product/QM85PWE6K/1-25-scale-18-quot-kelsey-hayes-artillery-wheels?optionId=63159613&li=marketplace

I’d say that was definitely a cool experience. Got a little more work done. The chop is finished until I get some primer sprayed on it. I’m sure there is going to be some areas that need work. I also cut the rear floor out which I am going to replace with a more stock appearing floor. The rails are also going to be kicked up a little.

Haha yea I got the idea on the roof louvers from your thread.
-
Here is the frenzel supercharger, at this point I'm not sure if I will use it. This piece is very nice quality it just needs some minimal sanding. Over the weekend I picked an olds rocket motor and I'm leaning towards using it instead. I made a roof insert using the monogram 32 hood sides. The louvered hood is also from the monogram 32 which as you can see is a bit longer than the newer offerings from revell. This actually worked out well for me because I was wanting to slightly stretch the front end anyways. The wheels and front tires are from the revell 29 roadster. The rear tire is from the monogram 41 lincoln so I had to add a strip of styrene around the outside of the rear wheel so it fits properly.
