Thanks guys. Further research tells me that it's also known as Swirl Painting and can use both acrylic and enamels.

Thanks guys, yes the paint came out very well for a first time go. Here's a shot of the bonnet showing the colours .........
  7. This is my eighth Manx (I wish I afford a real one!). Having seen the results of Hydro-Dip painting and researched and found the method on YouTube, I've tried it with this build. I've also used all of the covers/hoods and tops for this build that are supplied in the kit. I've also built the card diorama supplied in the kit. I've also raised the body on the chassis.
  8. My favourite......... The car I'm driving here................... On a track test.
  9. Superb finish to the 914! The Revell kit has always been very poor in production and fit. I think I have three on the shelf, two I've started and put back into the boxes, the third, a recent re-issue looks to be just as bad as the other two. I've seen the resin kit built elsewhere and it's very good but expensive. There was another one from I think a Germany based manufacturer in resin but that was I understand. to be a poor attempt and subsequently fell by the wayside. It is one of my favourite real cars and so annoying that a reasonable kit is still not available!
  10. Looking good! I like your paint mask/net! I'm building my 10th Manx I think, using a hydro-paint method for the first time!

    Superb!
  12. Interesting Garry, I have one of these 'Spy' cars on the shelf, not knowing what to do with it, you may have the answer, but I don't build many planes therefore have no spares. But lets wait and see!
  13. Cheers Marty.
  14. Cheers William. I agree to all you've said!
  15. Thanks Chris.
  16. Cheers guys.
  17. Cheers guys. That's right when you see a rally or rallycross car they are always dirty, hooray!
  18. Thanks guys.
  19. The kit... The inspiration..... The outcome...The roll cage made from sprue and bits & a brass Kirkey seat padded.................... The finish...........................
  20. We had a Sales Manager for Audi live a few doors away in the day when the first one of this model Audi came into the UK (the road version). So I had a chance to drive it! Then as a rally/race marshall I saw the standard length Audi Quattro and this short Sport version on the RAC rallies in the UK, before they banned Group 2 cars altogether!
  21. Well done Bob, just the car for the UK! With our high fuel prices and narrow roads it would be ideal!
  22. Thanks jchrisf. And thanks again Dann, wow what a kit!
  23. Well done, superb build and colour. We had one the same colour in the mid '70's, after a dark green one and before a sea blue one!
  24. I'm trying to strip another kit as well but here in the UK we don't have what you have in the States.
  25. Neat!
