  1. I submitted some photos for that guy's book. Haven't heard nothing either way. Here's some updates on the 959. I tried the masking tape camoflauge method, came out pretty good I think:
  2. Not sure if I'm supposed to wait for a formal acknowledgement, but here's what I'm starting with: Plan is some bigger tires, rear spoiler, maybe, driving lights, and interior clutter and stuff you would find in the backseat during a road trip.
  3. Use sandpaper on the tires for that rubber mold seam. The dash looks great. Are the seats all black now? Only familiar with MkI & II. Used to have red piping, or two tone seats.
  4. I remember the most ridiculous mod I saw as a kid, was a fishtank in the floor.
  5. New tooling of a MkI GTI? Yay. Been eyeing the reissued Tamiya race car, but its pretty pricey for a curbside. . Maybe they can do a Scirocco later, half the work is done.
  6. Nice work. Those are some properly done rat rods.
  7. Those all look great. I remember seeing your Beetle. Is that Space Wolf from Captain Harlock?
  8. Lego makes a flying V, which seems roughly the right size. it's about an inch and a 1/4 long.
  9. Testor's acrylics are the best, eaasiest to use all around acrylics. Brushes clean up with liquid soap & water, or windex. Thin with isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, or distilled/filtered, all of which you probably have already. Sprays so much easier than enamel, doesn't clog the ferrule on your brushes like enamel. I prefer them over any other paint, but for metallics, you're better sticking with enamel or trying Tamiya. Tamiya metallics and clear/transparent colors are excellent, but their formula is less forgiving for brush painting. You may have to build up coats, and they don't like being brushed over once they tack up. You should be able to use any primer you want, being acryilic you don't get any weird compatibility issues, either.
  10. Nice work. I think a wash, and some light weathering would bring out the detail and the body lines. I've never seen this kit before, or those wheels in scale.
  11. Nice work on the interior. I love those cars, but I can't get my head around why you would want to kill Rose McGowan or those other women, while destroying a cool car in the process. I know of a 300ZX and a late 80's Trans-Am in my area that have teh same paint job, but neither has "the duck". I don't think sports car noses lend themselves to hood ornaments, though.
  12. That came out great!. I'm probably in the minority, but the 79-81 Firebirds/Trans-Ams are my favorite body style. Is this a reboxed Fujimi version, no?
  13. I've watched these for the last few years. I need to watch all those movies again, though. I'd like to actually enter this year with a 1972? Datsun 510. I'm using the last Revell version of this kit, sold as: http://www.internetmodeler.com/2002/september/first-looks/revell_datsun.htm I'll try to get photo's of my kit this weekend. I started, but put it aside awhile ago. I glued the engine block together and painted the body, but that's it. I have a Monogram Datsun truck also, but its a 720, and appears to be a 80-83 body style. Too new for the guidlines.
  14. Well, I live in California. Skylines were not sold in the USA. It's a grey market car. California is the worst state to try and import/own a grey market car that isn't pre-1975 smog/inspection exempt. The ones I have seen typically go fo $50,000 and up, that added with the costs of owning/storage/maintenance.
  15. Nice work. You're alot more productive than I am. Nice subjects. If I was a millionaire, I would shurely end up getting a Skyline R34 or R32. If I was a thousandaire, I'd probably get an Impreza or Lancer, though.
  16. I remember the price being ironic, cause the hobby store had the stock version for $20, and this kit is the stock version with an extra sprue of parts for the racing conversion. I've got the Rally version, too. I paid $20 for that one though, but I've only had it about 2 years.
  17. Very Nice! I've got two of these in my stash. Need to start on them, I got them both for $13 each, so its been awhile.
  18. The color looks like Ford Grabber Blue
  19. This is a Tamiya kit. Almost a toy, its motorized, 4 wheel drive. It comes with a "bumper" to protect it. The labels are stickers, so I didn't use them. Its supposed to be a military themed vehicle, and is actually a miniature version of one of their RC cars. They also made a Samurai/Jimny and Baja Bug in this style, but I think those are OOP. All in all, a fun, simple kit but with good detail for what it is. The scale is 1/32 but "charicaturized" like Dave Deals kits.
  20. In addition to cars, I build alot of Sci-Fi and Mecha. Star Wars, Robotech, etc. Have some Battlestar Galactica stuff waitign to be built. Most of my kits are old and unbuilt. I built this about 20 years ago. I've got another I'm going to try and do a better job at. This is one of the first mecha I built, around 1987:
  21. I'm continuing the mayhem by rebuilding one of my old Porsche models. The Gunze-Sangyo 959 rally car. I built this probably 1992 and haven't much cared for the paintjob. It came out good, I just don't like it anymore. Red seats in a green car? I blame the paint fumes. I plan on doing a different two-tone paintjob, this will be somewhere between Death Race and Road Warrior style. Car Wars, I guess. I'm adding a mounted sci-fi looking gun to the hood, a machine gun nest in the rear window using the .30 cal from the '89 Batmobile and some other things.
  22. I've been doing it alot lately. My skills have improved, and I've learned some new tricks. I'm about 3-1 in rebuilds vs new builds the last few years. Currently I'm rebuilding a Porsche 959 rally car for the Post Apocalypse community build, and restoring three hard to find mechs from the Revell Robotech line. I'm color correcting them to match the source material. With the price of new kits, or buying old ones off ebay vs. "Hey, I can fix that"
  23. I was watching "Two and a Half Men" last night. It was probably a re-run, my wifre usually watches it, and I will if I'm in teh room. Alan started building model kits, but they played it off as an immature pastime. Both Charlie and Jake made fun of him for it. They showed him building a 78 Firebird, and later a Mystery Machine at the kitchen table. It was obvious from the way he was handling stuff he wasn't actually doing anything. On his nightstand he had a row of cars, and after an argument with Rose, he ends up with a Trans Am glued to his crotch. It looks like they used a 1/18 die-cast car for that shot. Overall it was kinda insulting they way they portrayed it as a hobby for immature people/kids.
  24. License plates and ID plates for most of Europe, I reckon. The corresponding ID plate is next to it license plates. Can't figure out what B and E are for. Gonna go look at a map... Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia...That raises more questions than it answered :-/ . I knew D is for Germany (Deutchland) maybe B & E are for something else that doesn't translate in English.
  25. I know, I was just joking. I've only ever seen two still on a car in California.
