  1. Put them in a ziplock baggie w/ a dryer sheet, then put 'em in the freezer. I wouldn't trust any chemicals not to ruin any paint/decorations, and leaving plastic (windows & interior, etc.) in the sun is probably gonna discolor it, on a hot day it will definitely discolor it and melt the windows.
  2. I think there was at least four of us in it, and it got stuck in loose, recently tilled dirt. It essentially buried itself up to the floor. The two biggest guys, and me got out to push it, while the smallest guy drove it out. What we actually did, was pick up the rear like a wheelbarrow, and the driver gassed it. We pushed it forward about 5 feet, and when it landed the rear tire chucked a rock into my leg. I thought I had a broken bone, but it was just a lot of pain and blood.
  3. That looks fantastic! One of my friends had one, and I've got a scar on my right leg from pushing it out of the dirt. I had a 75 Hilux, and it also had a hemi 20R.
  4. Looking great so far. The kit didn't have a decal sheet, but it did come with photo-etched emblems for the hood and decklid.
  5. That came out great. I got this kit and this is making me eager to start on it.
  6. Looking good, these look great in yellow.
  7. They both came out fantastic. I really like these old, small cars.
  8. Ask about a particular kit here, first. Gunze Sangyo/MR. Hobby kits are mostly curbside, and the wheels rot and split in about a year or two. Araii & Imai kits are pretty bad all around. Both of these companies went under and sold off their molds, so, be cautious. On the other hand, Tamiya, Hasegawa and Aoshima's original toolings are excellent. If you're interested in VWs, check out the Tamiya 66 Beetle and Karmann Ghia. Hasegawa's Type 2 offerings, and the new Revell Beetle kits. Steer cleer of the vintage Revell VW kits, unless you like a challenge, or cussing a lot.
  9. Very nice. I know firsthand of this kit's shortcomings, but lack your level of skill and dedication to accomplish such a marvelous result.
  10. Sweet! I never knew there was a kit of these.
  11. Still pretty slow with actual progress, but here's some more bits glued on. The tires, lights, wing and fuel cell:
  12. That looks spectacular. I don't care for the color, but it came out great!
  13. I've got a pin vise. I only got one about two years ago, and I kick myself for not gettin' one sooner, but I only have the three bits it came with.
  14. I drive a 1996 Toyota Tercel. The thing is so quiet, I have people walking (staggering) in front of me all the time in parking lots. Makes me miss my VW, where people would run from it.
  15. That's a beauty! Great Work!
  16. Excellent work, as usual. I'd be afraid of busting the steering wheel drilling out the holes in the spokes.
  17. Scratch built engine? Pull the other one. Looks fantastic! My ears hurt just looking at it.
  18. Fantastic work! I already posted in your WIP. Beautiful Nissan & paintwork.
  19. This looks fantastic. You're paintwork brings a tear to my eye. Beautiful! The only (constructive) criticism, would be to align the front and rear halves of the cage. When two bars are not aligned it creates a shear point in a collision. It would not pass tech inspection.
  20. That sounds like a pretty severe reaction. If ventilation, fans & respirator don't help, you may need to find another hobby (If you're compelled to create, I suggest Lego ) Other than getting lightheaded (high?) after a long session. I've never had a problem. I've always had a window open or a fan going.
  21. Good idea. I have an unfinished Baja built out of Revell's old convertible Beetle. The tooling fort these kits date back to '68 and they've been re-released a lot, including their dune buggy kits which share a lot of parts and are pretty bad, unless you're a fan of vague inaccurate detail, flash and mold lines thicker than ridges on a Ruffles potato chip.
  22. Haven't gotten anything done. This month has been filled with death, visiting relatives and mayhem. Not in the mood to paint.
  23. That's Vitamin C Orange, innit?
  24. Oh, man. That sucks about the body warping. Maybe you can build an old-school pan buggy with a rollcage?
  25. Impressive. you could fool somebody with that last pic.
